The Chestnut Inn

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Chestnut Inn during a last-minute late-night check-in, and I can confidently say it was a fantastic experience. From the moment we arrived, the front desk staff were incredibly courteous and helpful. They took the time to explain our room options and recommended the suite at the best choice financially, which I really appreciated-there was no attempt to overcharge us for our late booking.
The atmosphere at the bar was delightful, with a warm, friendly vibe that made it a perfect spot to unwind after our journey. It felt like a welcoming community where everyone was genuinely nice.
The highlight of our stay, however, came during checkout. When we asked the front desk to call a taxi, we were informed there was no taxi service available. When we explained that my mom had been in an accident in Pennsylvania, the staff member immediately offered to drive us the three miles without hesitation-and he refused to accept any money for the ride. This level of hospitality truly goes above and beyond what one would expect.
Overall, the Chestnut Inn exceeded all expectations. With exceptional service, a welcoming atmosphere, and staff willing to help in difficult situations, I highly recommend this inn to anyone looking for a comfortable stay. Thank you, Chestnut Inn, for your outstanding hospitality!

The view and atmosphere is incredible. We tried a couple seasonal cocktails, which were unique. The mac n cheese was good, I would say a 4/5 stars. Staff were great.

We just left the Chestnut Inn for Memorial Day weekend away with our small kids (7 & 3). We had a wonderful visit. We were only going to stay one night but had such a good time we stayed one more night. The Inn is really charming, right on the lake. There was live music when we arrived Saturday afternoon out by the water. We sat in the patio with cocktails, it was a great vibe! The kids loved the game room, the outdoor corn hole and canoeing on the lake. The restaurant was very nice as well, we ate dinner there both evenings - Good food for kids and adults. Staff at the Inn were wonderful! All in all - we can’t wait to come back later this summer!

Absolutely STUNNING! This hidden gem is well worth the trip! Nestled in the mountains and overlooking a quiet lake the Chestnut Inn is the perfect place for peaceful weekend away. The staff is genuinely kind and welcoming. The rooms are well kept and the food is delicious!

We had a wonderful two-night stay at this charming historic hotel. The view to the lake from the hotel is outstanding. The staff were friendly, the food and complimentary breakfast was delicious. We can't wait to come back and paddle a canoe on the lake! 🛶

We spent a relaxing night at this beautiful vintage inn on Lake Oquaga near Deposit, NY. The weather cooperated for a nice walk. The food was fantastic, and the service was exceptional. We played games in the evening and enjoyed the complimentary breakfast the next morning. We are already planning our next trip!

Just went to the restaurant. The ribeye was one of the best I've ever had. Perfectly cooked as ordered. Melt in your mouth.

Just completed a four night stay at the Chestnut Inn in Deposit New York.
She is an old building (1928) with a few creeks in the floorboards that add to the charm. The lighting and soft vintage music on the porch made it so romantic. I felt as if we were transported to the "Roaring Twenties". We stayed in the ADA room, which is on the first floor, so a bit more noise from the folks on the porch than would be expected in the upper floors. Still a very quiet and comfortable place at night.
The staff are very professional but seem more like friends than employees by the time you leave. The main concern of the staff seems to be the guests comfort, at all times. We were going out and knew we would return late, so the staff made certain our key could open the outer doors which are locked for security at night.
As a late riser, we missed breakfast and were quickly offered coffee and told they could get something for us if needed.
The Food. Let me say that again. THE FOOD! The Chestnut Inn restaurant has excellent French cuisine. I recommend: The Baked Brie with Fig Jam, The Steak Frites, and on Friday the Prime Rib. The servers are attentive friendly and helpful.
The location is a hidden jewel on a spring fed lake. I was there as the leaves reached peak color, but I vow to return this summer for swimming, fishing, and Kayaking. Not far from the West Branch of the Delaware River that has some of the best natural trout fishing in the country.
I cannot wait to go back in the warmer weather.

We did not stay in a room. The staff with service for dinner last night was however fantastic! We sat outside but really liked how they set things up for more formal dinning along with a very comfortable lounge setting (I always loved the bar made from chestnut wood too). Looking forward to going back Fri night for some drinks as well. They just got their liquor license on Tue and hope to have their racks full and ready by then.

Did not stay overnight as my family lives locally. Enjoyed the Monday night prix fixe menu. Service was attentive and our entrees were nice. Happy to see the Chestnut open once again!

The people that work here are some of the nicest and most accommodating I’ve experienced in all my travels over the years. Above and beyond. The rooms are spacious and clean as well. All around great experience.

The place is absolutely amazing, the peaceful atmosphere and lake view is nothing but fantastic. Food in the hotel restaurant is great, staff is very friendly. Overall, if you want to detach from the everyday busy realities, this would be a place to go.

A remarkable place where history comes alive. So glad the Chestnut Inn is starting a new chapter in its history. Thank you for the wonderful atmosphere, amenities, food and lodging.

A really beautiful and scenic location right on the lake. Jim the general manager is super nice and great talking to.

Please keep the fried artichokes on the menu forever! So good!
