Truly a wonderful hobby shop, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable and there is a beautiful model railroad inside the store. There’s so much to enjoy from model railroading, building scale rockets, to RC cars. They’ve got it all!

Was recommended the Bright Boy track cleaner for my original polar express track purchased back in the early 2000's. It really did the trick with getting them super clean!

I don’t often leave reviews online, but the great experience I had at Ron’s Mundelein Hobbies on May 21st, 2022, deserves a review. I was in the Mundelein area that Saturday morning, running some errands, and took a minute online to look for the nearest hobby store. I found Ron’s at the top of the list, read some of the history, & decided to call to see if they were open. Norm answered the phone. He was so pleasant to talk to over the phone, even though I could tell he was busy with customers in the store. That really got my respect. We stopped by an hour later, and Norm helped me pick out a traxxas r/c car for my 8 year old His prices are competitive with Amazon, etc., but what made the experience so great for me, was Norm. He takes the time to answer all your questions, knows his craft very well, and it was really nice to physically see/handle the product in person, rather than seeing just a picture online. Norm took care of us from start to finish. He made the experience of buying a quality r/c car enjoyable because he cares. He made a customer for life that day. Thanks again Norm. Needless to say, my son loves the short course truck.

I brought in a post war Lionel engine from my boyhood for repair and experienced caring people who take a real interest in their customers be it antique or new items.

I came in on Saturday just to browse around and ended up leaving with a RC car. Super fast and fun! When I was setting it up I realized it wasn’t working so I went back to the store and the employee showed me how to set it up! It turned out it was my fault. Great service and will definitely be coming back!!!

Norm and the rest of the staff are awesome. They fixed my son's RC truck, went out of their way for parts. Always top notch service and prices.

A married couple own this store, if you love train as they do anything you want they have it. Decent model section. Fake grass,sand,trees, ... paints brushes. Great store nice people .

Very nice lady who works there. She found a model car ive been looking for, for about 5-6 years, and she held it for me till. Fair pricing. I will for sure be using this hobby shop as my go to before any big name shops just because of the lady on the phone. Thank you so very much!

They are always super nice and the kids love that place. It’s an experience you will not find ordering online. I like to support local businesses but they make it super easy to do so. 1st time I walked in a few years back guy stopped everything to show my then 3 year old how the trains worked. Last time I was there (yesterday)with my now almost 5 and almost 4 year old and the guy stopped everything to help us select a rocket kit that would have everything needed to launch. Helpful tips and all. Kids loved the rocket and we will be getting another when they open Tuesday (I misjudged the wind and it’s now stuck in the tree). Little dudes were so happy counting down and then recovery of rocket. My point is you will not find that type of experience online. Your another number there where at Ron’s these people actually care. Rare and much needed quality these days. Thank you for the assistance.

PS been there a few times without the boys and service is always top shelf.

We wanted a train for around our Christmas Tree and the owner was so helpful and explained all the options they had. They have RC cars, airplanes, trains etc. They have some toy items and also nicer sets. I highly recommend this shop. It is great to support local places! 💕

Great local Hobby Store! Huge selection of Rockets and Trains. Good RC car/selection too! Also has a huge model train set up which my Son loved. Friendly and helpful staff! Great experience!

Me & my buddy always drive passed this place and never walk in until finally on day we did go inside and the women working there was so nice. We ask questions about the model cars and she knew what she was talking about also I was interested in buying a drone, that's when a younger gentleman came to assist me with any questions I had. Very helpful! Let's just say I walked in without the intention of buying anything and ended up leaving with a $600 drone which is awesome because other retailers are asking so much more for the bigger drones. I will definitely recommend this place to anyone they have multiple items and also less expensive smaller drones. Awesome place and great service.

I am very new to the model train hobby, especially with DCC. The staff here are really helpful and really go the extra mile to help you with any project.

This is the best hobby shop I know of....Ron is not only a great modeler but will share his expertise and skills. Most items are always in stock and special orders are welcome.

I have been going to Ron's since I moved here 10 years ago. I absolutely love the set up, the material goods and spending weekend mornings talking with other model builders and the like. You will not find a better hobby shop in the area.
