These stars are strictly for the staff. I like the staff and they are always super nice. Other than that this place is SUPER EXPENSIVE. Yesterday over 9.00 for a pound of red peppers. Over 7 bucks for celery!!!! I know it may cost more to get up the mountain, but even HAWAII grocery stores are less expensive. Food is shipped out to the island and they still don't have the ridiculous prices this grocery store has.

Edit: Fairway has corrected their prices and they still have their awesome employees that are always friendly.

I love this store! We moved up here late last year and I feel every week they are always making improvements! The produce usually looks really fresh, Of course after a rush it gets a little picked over. But they're being so good at being in good stock of everything. The prices are very fair, on big and small brands. They also have weekly deals that are worth looking out for. But my biggest appreciation has to be the staff. They're all so nice and open to having conversations about the weather or what have you. But they actually listen! A month or so I asked about what seasons they carry brisket. I talked to one of the butchers and he said they don't carry it very often, especially during winter and spring, but he'd talk to the manager about it. Being used to city service I assumed it would be forgotten. But a couple weeks later I went to do my usual grocery shopping. And they had it! I was so impressed by their willingness to listen to people. Sure they don't have all the fancy organic brands. But the environment and customer service make all the difference. Great staff and great store!

A customer service is extremely personable and caring. Those that work there go out of their way to help, ensuring you leave with a smile. Many may say the prices are too high but if you take into account your time, the price of gas as well as the stress of dealing with down the hill traffic... For your basic shopping needs well worth it!

Very nice full service market. We live in Riverside and have a place we call our second home in Idyllwild. I get your ad in the Town Crier, see what is on special and do our shopping. No need to bring it up with us.
The employees are always friendly, and very helpful. If you are planning a trip to Idyllwild and staying a while, check it out, you will not be disappointed.

I spend my summers on the mountain, so this is where I shop. They have a great selection of items that I use..ie: fruits, veggies, etc.

I don’t normally rate grocery stores yet each time I’ve been in I’ve found the staff really friendly and helpful. They have enough selection for a small town grocer. I like that someone actually reads their rating and responds. Makes me feel like they care.

This place recently got remodeled. They were better before the remodel. It feels kind of like they got rid of all the people that knew what they were doing. Yet I still see them there. The Cuban sandwich was the best thing they ever had. PS bring that Cuban guy back there because he was funny. Aside from that I can never tell if I'm reviewing this one or the other one there's two markets in town both are pretty decent.

Great place to shop when you don't feel like driving down to Hemet or Palm Desert. It's a little more expensive but saves hours of driving in the heat. Nice store good produce, good meat selection, good wine including boxed!!

If you're from the city and looking for a grocery store that is closer to a Vons, Safeway, Ralph's, then this is it. The other place in town is a dump. Trust me. This place has a much better selection, wider aisles, fresh fruit/veggies, more veg options, and great service.

I was surprised at the large selection of food. The meat market was well stocked, had really good looking meats, including fish. Produce was a large selection, and the produce manager has the right to be proud, it was well presented, and fresh.

Best place on the hill for groceries . great people, they're very helpful and always have a smile on their face .. Even behind their mask ;) store mgr Juan and assistant mger Stephen are very outgoing and go above and beyond for their cuatomers . and Becky is awesome as usual lol.

Unexpected great selection. Staff very helpful. Prices surprisingly reasonable for a mountain store. In the past we shopped before coming to IDW and hauled everything here. No longer!

We have been shopping at Fairway for decades. Excellent selection, name brands, fresh and organic produce, large meat department with a variety of cuts, La Brea Bakery breads, good takeaway barbq items... we are lucky to have this loczl market and its super-friendly and helpful staff in our little village!!

I've lived in Idyllwild for over nine years and shop at Fairway weekly. The groceries are great and they have lots of organic options. The store is always clean. The staff is friendly and they're very helpful. I highly recommend shopping at Fairway.

The Roasted chicken is delicious. They have excellent fresh baked breads. The sourdough is crunchy and flavorful. We stopped in New Years Eve for Champagne and party favors. They had both!

Between the two main markets Idyllwild-Pine Cove, Fairway has the fairer prices, and more of your standard fare options. The staff is consistently fun, helpful, and competent and has become my market of choice for just about everything. I go to Village Market for their kitchen and butcher, and fairway for all else.

5 years later......
Fiarway is still a great convenience. If your shopping for more than a couple of days and don't mind the 25 minutes drive to Valle Vista, Stater Bros will pay for the price difference. But if youre just up for the weekend or ran out of yeast for the bread loaves you've forgot (they've often three or more brands to select from) enjoy this part of mountain culture and shop fairway They've got most products covered.
Winter hours until 8pm summer open until 9ish.
Fairway Foods is a savior for those who cook at home. They offer a complete selection of grocery goods, including a prepared food hot or cold deli, a dog and cat food aisle, fresh vegetables, meats.
