Thanks to yelp, I heard about $1 taco Tuesdays and it did not disappoint. No skimping of ingredients, quality or quantity. These tacos were filling and delicious! They offer pastor, barbacoa, lengua, tripe, chicken, and chorizo. There’s also a fresh salsa bar where you can create your own salsa combinations! Don’t judge the exterior or interior, come for the tacos and friendly service. Regardless of $1 taco Tuesday or any other day, these tacos are worth every penny.

Don’t pay attention to these older reviews. This place has changed a lot over the years. The new restaurant inside has delicious food. It’s called El Patron. I highly recommend giving it a try.
There’s also a nice Latin grocery section inside that has a very nice variety of spices, sauces, and candy!
Don’t judge a book by its cover. Please hear me out and give this place a try.

The New Grocery/Convenience Store at this location has a large variety of good products; new ownership, this is also a UPS to pick up drop off your UPS packages, nice addition to the neighborhood.

The most reasonable and best Mexican food around. New ownership should make the actual market a bit better but the tacos and burritos are the best reason to go!

I frequent this store on a fairly regular basis, and it does seem to get decent business, but it is a prime example of the type of place that people go to only when they have no other option, and they only go for one or two items (i.e. cigarettes, lottery). In the past month I have gotten actual rotten candy, or candy that is so hard it is inedible (I used to only buy energy drinks there but when I called the owner on charging me full price for 2 drinks that were promoted as 2 for $3 on a sticker on the energy drink mini-fridge adjacent to the register he told me that there was a $5 credit card minimum, despite months of using my card for $3-$4 purchases).
So, to get to that minimum I've purchased Nibs licorice, Twix, snickers and gum. The nibs were so hard I was worried I may have broken a tooth, I am not picky so I tried to suck on one of them to see if it softened... It didn't. Yesterday the Twix and when I opened it the chocolate had faded to a tan color and was flaking off (I searched for an expiration date but couldn't find one). Basically, their food is ancient. Which makes me wonder why they bother trying to have fresh produce.
I wanted to like this place as I like the idea of neighborhood convenience stores that are privately owned and not a part of some chain, but this place really has become somewhere where I will never go again. I could avoid solids there, but the fact that the owner knowingly overcharged me for something was the last straw for me. I wouldn't recommend this place for anything for that reason, I have also purchased cigarettes there only to get to my van to notice that the $1 off on the plastic on the smokes was also ignored. I know that the place is probably not doing well, but realistically outside of the store across the street( which has way less convenient parking) there is very little competition around the area, combine that with the fact that a high school is around the corner and you'd assume the store should be doing well enough for the guy not to need to basically steal from his customers (overcharging is theft). He is a nice guy too, but he just needs to sell the place to someone who can manage things better.
If you have a high school within walking distance and your junk food is fossilized, you have problems. If you openly overcharge regular customers by ignoring your own specials (not everyplace sells Amp drinks 2 for $3, just take the stickers down!), you have problems. Avoid this place if at all possible. If you are near a high school and also in south minneapolis and have the same glass pipes for months at a time, you have problems.
Side note: They do sell "tobacco" pipes, but don't have a great selection (compared to other corner stores I've been to, like the one on Como and 16th by Van Cleave at the U) either.

The food was 3 stars, but I noticed the store was extremely filthy while I waited for my food which grossed me out. I may return if they hire a cleaner.

I have no idea why this place stays open! I've passed by it many times, and it still has yet to shut down! This is according to my visit there this week. At least I had a learning experience by going there because I know now where not to shop for food. One of those places to not shop for food is there. This is by far the worst excuse for a grocery shop in Minneapolis that I've ever seen in my life.
The food has mold on it. There was a lot of food on the shelves that had passed expiration. This probably explains the mold on a lot of the food. There was no f***ing way that I'd ever buy anything there. I don't want to get sick. The place also smelled nasty! I couldn't wait to leave there. The cashier was rude. He gave me a nasty look as I was leaving. I have no idea what his problem was. I definitely won't be back!

The store is practically empty due to a change of format. the candy is old. This is a chocolate bar just bought from there. Go to Dokken across the street.

This is not a place you want to shop, unless you are looking for sugar (pop/candy) or smokes.

My candy is always old
