Lift Bridge Yarns

My knitting friends and I drove out to Fairport from Buffalo this weekend to visit the shop. Everyone there is so helpful and friendly. They spend as much time with you as you need/want! We all came home with bags packed with new goodies and projects to look forward to starting. I bought these beautiful yarns to make The Traveler Shawl by Andrea Mowry. They had a sample in the shop and my oh my…did it catch my eye!! Thanks Dawn (and staff) for bringing my friends and I such joy on a snowy weekend!

I had an absolutely fantastic experience here. I’m a pretty new knitter, and a college student, and I was a bit lost. The staff was really, really lovely, and helped me find a good first sweater pattern, and the tools I needed. They also directed me to some truly gorgeous yarn, which I sadly could not afford on the college student budget. They gave me advice on where to find less expensive yarn, which was so helpful, and I am so grateful. I can’t wait to save up to actually buy yarn from here! I cannot leave a rating high enough.

The staff here are so kind and helpful! They were fun to talk to as I browsed the store, and it was a great experience while picking out some yarn and getting it wound. I love the selection of local yarns, and they had a section with some cute knitting notions too. I definitely recommend this local yarn shop!

I loved this store, and I wish Iived closer! The staff was amazingly kind, helpful, and funny, and they feature seven hand dyed yarn companies on top of other great yarn brands staples! They also have beautiful fiber for spinning, so it's for more than just knitters and crocheters. I can't wait to come back and visit!

Delightful shop with quite a nice selection of NY and local yarns. Erin was so nice to talk to and gave me nice suggestions of patterns to investigate that are on Ravelry. I purchased some beautiful locally dyed sock yarn.

Great selection of yarn, roving, findings, and fiber tools/accessories. Dawn and Joan are a delight, as are all the other employees here - and all incredibly knowledgeable about all things yarn!

I've crocheted for 10+ years, but wanted to pick up knitting again and asked for a beginner project idea. Joan (I think? I'm so bad with names! Sorry!) jumped into action with a suggestion for a Sophie's Scarf and some yarn to use for it. It was the perfect restart project and a great yarn choice for it!

This shop also has weekly knit-in/crochet-in/spin-in events, and is involved heavily with the local dyer and yarn making community. In my opinion, you can't go wrong with a local shop that also supports local makers. ❤

This is a great LYS. I really liked it before, but now it is larger, has better inventory, a good group space, and the same friendly expert staff. Win! I've been to the old location several times for advice, and this most recent visit I purchased a skein of new sock yarn. Really nice expanded selection of various yarns. Joan is the person that I always talk to about socks, she is a true expert, and very friendly. The staff always invites me to the open knitting sessions that they hold, and have always been helpful to lend their advice if I am stuck or considering a new construction technique. They offer very nice knitting tools for sale, and really know the yarns and other products that they sell. Basically, in my humble opinion, this is the knitting home of the greater Rochester, NY area.

This is the best yarn shop I've ever visited! When we travel I always look for a local yarn shop and this one topped them all! Very nice and helpful staff. They have a wide variety of beautiful yarns and also carry hand died local artists yarns, my favorite! Thank you for a great yarn experience!

The owners are absolutely amazing and personable! I come in for Sit & Stitches and to buy other knitting supplies. I always leave happier than I went in. The customer service is great and all the employees are knowledgeable.

One of the best local yarn stores I have visited. Comfortable, well lit, and spacious with a diverse selection of yarn and spinning fiber. Their selection of locally dyed yarn is amazing and worth the visit alone.

Friendly staff, great selection of yarns and nice little extras like, sit & stitch times, free winding services and a generous membership reward club.

This is just a fabulous community yarn store. Ladies who work there are so friendly, kind, and helpful. They're happy to help you find yarn for a specific pattern if needed but will also let you browse to your hearts content without feeling rushed. I've taken a couple classes there and those are also great.

Love this yarn store! Great selections. Local hand dyed yarn and higher end yarn brands. Great notions and bags as well. Very friendly staff. Safety precautions in place and adhered to.

What an adorable LYS! I love all the fun details, including the tiny knit sweater Open/Closed sign on the door.

There are so many great locally dyed yarns - and Dawn, the owner, loves to talk to you about the dyers, which is so fun!

They have sit-n-stitch opportunities as well as classes if you want to join with others in some yarn projects.

You should definitely stop by - and plan to return often!

If you are looking for a beautifully curated yarn store and a warm and welcoming community, Lift Bridge Yarns is the place to go. All of the staff are welcoming and incredibly helpful. The store is stocked with a variety of yarns in all weights and colors. It is eye candy and a great place to go to feed your senses! Their "sit and knit" are warm and welcoming with knitters of all abilities laughing and enjoying their time together. Last time I was there, I needed a needle to knit some sleeves. I was going to buy a particular needle and the staff pointed out a much better alternative. I'm ecstatic that we have this local treasure. I plan on supporting them every way I can.

This is the BEST shop! The staff is kind, knowledgable, helpful and attentive. I love the sit and stitch (with candy!) in the new bigger space, sitting with a community of fellow knitters. There are also outside tables for knitting, and expert knitting & crochet teachers... AND, so many adorable items in addition to the gorgeous huge selection of yarn at different price points. The owners support other local businesses and have some of those items in the shop - for ex. Little Green Apple jewelry. Truly, a lovely place to spend some time if you are a knitter, crocheter or spinner! Thanks everyone for making LBY such an awesome place....

It's always enjoyable to go into Lift Bridge Yarns! Everyone, from owners to employees, is very knowledgeable and friendly. There to help with a project, pick out yarn or just to chat.

The best yarn shop in the area. Super friendly and helpful staff with a great selection of yarns and tools. As a novice knitter I often have questions or need help. The wonderful staff will provide answers or quick fixes. There are classes and help sessions for more detailed assistance. The Sit and Stitch sessions are another way to learn more and spend time with fellow knitters.

I was so excited to have a new yarn shop in Fairport. It is not only the only one, but the staff is wonderful. They take an interest in what you are working on, give great tips and are always helpful in finding patterns. My husband gave me a gift card for my birthday and died 2 weeks later. I used the gift card to buy yarn with yellow in it (his favorite color, not mine) and they helped me find the perfect yarn with specks of yellow. Now I have a special cowl to remember his arms around me.

I ran in yesterday for a quick purchase, if there is such a thing, and despite a lot of people knitting in there, they took time to help me figure out what yarn would work the best.

I stopped in last week for yarn for some holiday gifts. What a wonderful little store! They have a great selection of higher-end yarns as well as notions and gifts for yarn crafters. One of the biggest draws for me is that they have lots of yarns from local spinners and dyers, which you can't always find on Webs or JBW. I had the pleasure of meeting Dawn, who was not only incredibly helpful in helping me pick out the fibers for my projects, but was so welcoming that I've already made plans to go to this week's Thursday sit & stitch (and get more yarn!)
