Sweet Things Sweet Shop

We visit Sweet Things Candy Shop several times a year. My kids and I love the variety of candy, sodas, and interesting gifts! The owner stocks her store with so many interesting puzzles, books, and toys. I like that I can find gifts like these locally and support her business. The quaint town of St. Genevieve is lucky to have this place. It’s the okayest in the best way!

Cute little store with a great selection! I always enjoy getting my favorite candy (sea salt caramels) and looking at all the candy I ate as a kid.
Nichole is always so helpful and she puts a lot of time and effort into her selections for the store. There’s something for everyone!
Don’t forget to check out the back room with all the children’s books and toys! They are so cute!

Having visited this store many times including making the 1 hour drive once a week during the summer I must say this place is great. Great candy selection. Funny boss lady. Donates to organizations she believes in. Thanks to a previous review I’m now excited to meet some satanist (not that I am one…but judge not or let the be judged someone once said) that enjoy delicious candy. I like a variety of people that support small businesses.

Love this cute shop! Full of candy, gifts, and fun. Bright and colorful on the inside and outside. I travel to Ste Gen just to visit Nichole at Sweet Things!

As a frequent visitor to this shop, I must say, I never can understand any negative reviews.

I know that a lot of this world and its people are angry and feel they are not getting ALL of the attention they deserve, but sitting cowardly behind a computer keyboard and venting into the internet is insane.

Get some candy (which provides dopamine - if anything can make you happy, it's candy), and relax. It is GREAT candy, by the way. I have bought it for many of my friends and they all have 5-star smiles on their faces when they take that first delicious bite.

I, personally, actually "in" the shop, witnessed in the last 2 weeks, the owner of this shop have kids come into this store, run and HUG her. And she hugged them right back. Candy was dropped, and immediately replaced. She has a lending library for the children of our community out in the front of her store. She has a niece that she dearly loves and drives hours to see her. I have seen pictures - it is saccharine sweetness defined.

Everyone can have a bad day... everyone! This includes people who constantly vent on Yelp, Google, etc... in probably several places about several shops and stores that didn't treat them like a king or queen (I think they are called Karens, or maybe Gavins if they are male).

But before you spew out toxic negativity into the world, take a deep breath, and think back to a time you had a bad day. Or maybe you are having a bad life - I am truly sorry for that (see - you "can" have compassion for people you do not truly know!).

But again, do not take it out on a person you do not know except for a 5-minute interaction, or hearsay of what someone else might have told you. If you were not there, you do not know what happened.

The candy is amazing, with a wide variety and selection, AND you can also get children's books and toys to go with your candy. This is not the actions of someone who does not like children, or is the witch that a few trolls portray her as.

The rest of the world has showered this store with countless 5-star reviews, which give it an overall rating of 4.5. Take out the angry, bitter selfish people who want the world to cater to them, and you would have a 5-star candy shop that brings happiness to the world, especially children, who LOVE candy!

Walk a mile in anyone's shoes before judge or "rate" them and base your review on the candy (excellent) and if you must judge the person, get to know them more than one 5-minute visit, on a day when you are NOT in a bad mood.

Anyway,….. Gwen Stefani had nothing on this French braided employee who meet me with inquires …..I later found out she was the owner the whole time!!!So nice and helpful , we bought lbs of gummies for Taylor and his friends. Birthday party next week ! This is a great establishment, Candy galore. I’m glad it’s local.And great personnel. Will be back. ! Thank you.

This store is adorable and has something for everyone young and/or old. Candy is delicious and store clerk made my day. She was fun, happy and we loved her hair. Can’t wait to visit again.

I've been coming to this shop for YEARS and I've always left happy with my experience.Even when crazy busy because of a festival or event the owner does her best to help you when you ask.
My husband also likes the shop and owner and he's super duper picky and doesn't like many people.

World's (More Than) Okayest Candy Store 😉
We ordered our Christmas candy, along with hot chocolate bombs from this store. Because it's a 3 hour drive one way we opted to have our order shipped. The owner got our ordered filled and shipped out the next day! Our mixed box of chocolates had a lovely variety of chocolates, as well as some other goodies added in! And the hot chocolate bombs? They're freaking amazing! Legitimately the BEST hot chocolate I've EVER had 🙌🏼
Bottom line you can't go wrong with choosing this store to fill your candy needs. And if you want some humor to spice up your life go follow their Instagram (seriously, her stories make my day 😂).

These 1-star reviews are written by a bunch of keyboard warriors who have nothing better to do than falsely slander someone online. The only “rude” people here are the lovely folks who decided that trying to ruin someone’s livelihood is more important than having an ounce of decency. Do better, Ste. Genevieve.

Nichole busts her butt for her business and for her community and repeatedly gets raked over the coals. You people don’t deserve her. Thank you Nichole for always having the best selection, and for going above and beyond every single time I order. I hope someday this town realizes what a gem they’ve got here.

There's lots of things to look at and the staff was terrific when it came time to pick out treats to take with us. They even had sugarfree items for those who prefer it. I did taste one of those pieces and it tastes as good as the real deal! Go check them out!

New visit review 7/6/22: we came to visit our daughter and just had to make a side trip to buy candy from Sweet Things! A delicious selection as always. The pictures below prove that this is the okayest place to visit! High five and 3 stars Nichole 😎
This is a fun little local shop with a delicious variety of candy and a browse area for your gift and souvenir needs. My husband loved the nostalgic candy available and would have bought one of each if allowed. We decided on sea salt caramels, turtles and coconut clusters from so many choices. All are delicious and this is not just the World’s Okayest Candy Store but the World’s Bestest Candy Store. We will be back soon.
Update June 7th: Just want to wish Nichole an ‘Okay’ day and I will be back in the area for the Honey Festival and will be by to get some delicious caramels and marshmallows and hope to see you and your cute braids then ❤

The candy lady has out did herself. The chocolate covered strawberries were on point and amazing. I suggest going to the Ste Gen Candy shop if your looking to get your significant other anything for Valentines or any other occasion. Thank you so much Nichole you are wonderful 😊

This candy shop is one of the major highlights of Ste. Genevieve. Not only do they have a variety of sweet treats to choose from (the turtles are my fav), they have adorable gifts for kids and witty socks for adults. That’s not all, they deliver candy to your house!!! Incredible.

Adorable shop with so many neat items! I love the variety of candy and fun items for all ages. The owner has been so helpful! I live almost an hour away from her store, and she makes it so easy, to get my boys,cute and fun items! She even took additional pictures, of the same items, so I could pick which one I liked best…and she did this on her day off. She and the store are pretty “okay.” ;)

This is a very fun shop with a great sense of humor. I travel 30 minutes to get the best candy and unique items around. The candy will make you smile and the store owner will make you laugh. The world needs more good in it and a slice of that can be found in this shop. They are frequently helping and donating to local organizations and have a big heart on top of everything else. I highly recommend this place…and the caramels!

The best candy store! We can always find something sweet here. Nichole has the best truffles, buckeyes & salted caramels. My daughter loves the gummy worms, bears & dinosaurs, too. I love the variety of toys, puzzles, stuffed animals, & other gift items I can find at her store. One of our favorite stops in downtown Ste Genevieve.

What's in a name right?!? I could say this candy shop was "okay" but that would be an understatement! It's my favorite place to go to get my indulgent coffee flavored chocolates!! My kid's beg to go here weekly! So many different flavors and types of candies! There is definitely something for everyone here! Best little gift shop too! It's a one stop shop to find that special gift! And those homemade chocolates?!?! I have never seen anything more perfect and delicious!!

I got a variety chocolate pack and everything was delicious. Really liked the chocolate covered Oreo and chocolate covered cherry. And Nichole the candy lady that recommended all the different chocolates was very sweet.
