Where locals grab their breakfast!

There's a small hot deli in the back corner where every morning there's a line for traditional breakfast options. There are breakfast sandwiches, eggs, bacon, sausage, donuts, cinnamon rolls, grits, and hash browns.

Bacon was great.
Sausage was nice and had a little spicy kick.
Hashbrowns don't hold up well under heat lamps, so I'd only recommend if you get there early.

For a pricey resort area, the breakfast foods here are actually a good price and value.

There are benches on the porch where everyone sits and eats.

Great general store/souvenir shop/Cafe centrally located in the Dunes. They have a little bit of everything in here I think, and it was within walking distance of the hotel. The staff was very pleasant as well.

Good selection of gifts, souvenirs (including some sale items) and few necessities while at beach. Also has counter where ice cream, etc. is served. Was one of the few places still open after dinner. P.S. Must acknowledge that the store is located inside a community (Palmetto Dunes) so there is a gate attendant at entrance.

When staying at Palmetto dunes the General Store is your best friend.. if you need breakfast, or milk, candy to kitchen staples, a new shirt or a cold ice cream they got it.. employees are kind and helpful AND you can bring your dog in!

Great place in Palmetto Dunes to get just about everything you need!! *** You don't need a pass to get to the store. Friendly people, great staff and a covered porch that is perfect for enjoying a warm day in the shade.

Breakfast is delicious!!!!! The breakfast burrito is a MUST! Hashbrowns, bacon, and cinnamon roll delicious too! Lots of coffee options!

They have a great selection of things you need on vacation! Also, their generosity is outstanding! My son lost his sunglasses in their store (that we had bought there the day before). They let him pick out a brand new pair for free!! Thank you so much! You made a little boy very happy.

One of the unique gems of Hilton Head located in Palmetto Dunes. They have always been known as a great place for local workers and residents to grab a quick, hearty and home cooked meal. They have numerous unique items to discover. For example, they have the best candy bin selection and fresh coffee on the island. And they carry the highest quality gummy bears in the Low Country. Besting candy stores from Charleston to Savannah hands down. And the people that work there are the best. I return just to see them sometimes. You just don’t find quality service and employees at stores like you will find at the General Store in Palmetto Dunes.

Great little store where you will find just about everything you need on vacation. Prepared food, snacks, t-shirts and an impressive candy aisle. Staff was always helpful. A very convenient shop at Palmetto Dunes.

We just spent a week vacationing in Palmetto Dunes and this little general store packs a big punch. Aside from offering hot meals, this store has everything you need to spend a week at the beach. Toys, sunscreens, t-shirts, hats, flip flops, snacks, souvenirs, etc. It is incredibly convenient to everyone staying in Palmetto Dunes and makes for a great place to sit and watch pickleball with a cup of coffee, etc. I highly recommend checking it out.

Great little convenience store in Palmetto Dunes and outstanding customer service. My 7-yr old daughter brought home a little souvenir jar from the General Store that we filled with beach sand. Unfortunately when we got home I accidentally dropped and shattered the jar. I called the General Store and they went out of their way to fill a new jar with sand and ship it to us. Thank you!!!

I’ve been coming here for my entire life and it’s always been my favorite stop. I must mention that the new version of the cinnamon rolls are to die for!!

Inside smells like a coffee shop. Excellent selection for such a small store. They have a little of everything including breakfast and lunch. A huge assortment of candy and drinks as well as souvenirs. Be prepared to pay a little more but it's worth it if you need something and don't want to have to face Island traffic.

Ay, yo, listen up! I gotta spill the marinara about the General Store down in Hilton Head. This joint might have everything you need for your beach vacation, but lemme tell ya, they're pickin' your pockets like a bunch of slick con artists!

You walk in, thinkin' you hit the jackpot with all the convenience they're offerin'. It's like they're flashin' their wares, temptin' you like a siren call. But once you see the price tags, you feel like you're in a high-stakes poker game with no good cards to play.

I mean, fuhgettaboutit! They're chargin' prices like they're the exclusive suppliers to the Corleone family. It's like they got a direct line to the black market for beach gear or somethin'. You'd think they were sellin' you designer suits instead of beach towels!

You wanna grab a cold drink to beat the heat? That'll be a Benjamin, my friend. You could probably get a whole truckload of drinks from a street vendor for the same price. It's like they got their own little racket goin' on.

And the beach toys? Don't even get me started! They're chargin' you more than what it costs to make a snazzy Italian sports car! It's like they're runnin' a numbers game and they're always winnin'.

I don't know how they do it, but they got folks comin' in like moths to a flame, droppin' bundles of cash like they're made of fettuccine alfredo. It's like they got some kinda secret formula, like the recipe for nonna's famous meatballs, to make people part with their money without flinchin'.

Now, don't get me wrong, the place is convenient. It's like havin' a safe house right on the beach. You forget your sunscreen? No problem! They got you covered, for a price, of course. It's like they got their own version of the Godfather's protection racket goin'.

So, if you got money to burn and don't mind payin' top dollar for beach essentials, go ahead, knock yourself out. But for the rest of us, I'd say take a walk on the boardwalk and find a more reasonable deal. There's plenty of other spots that won't leave you feelin' like you just got a hit on your bank account.

In the end, the General Store might have everything you need, but they're chargin' you like you're buyin' the Brooklyn Bridge. Save your cash for some real Italian cuisine and avoid this overpriced joint like it's a rival mob territory. Capisce?

I would not buy my Cheerios there....... The prices are what you would expect to pay in a convenience store and a big resort… That being said they run a tight ship there… They’ve got some great breakfast and lunch, probably some of the best fried chicken that you’ve ever had in your whole life!

The staff is great especially Heidi, I think she’s been there for quite some time but she’s always got a big smile on her face and she’s certainly an asset to the whole operation!

This is a must for breakfast which I believe they serve till 11am. Priced for great. Nice candy selection for kids. Hidden little gem. Only downside is parking is hard because tennis people always take all the parking.

Adorable little store. The meals for lunch looked very appetizing. Stayed consistently busy, but the staff was nice.

Have been coming here for years, every day of vacation since I was a little kid. Always friendly at the cashier station. The breakfast is great (biscuits and gravy especially) and easy to order for take-out. Good variety of snacks, coffee, beer, souvenirs, toys, beach items, etc. Visiting again this year and it will surely be one of my first stops on the island.

Update 2023: Still a great place to stop but the word is out on their delicious breakfast and there's usually a line:) Their craft beer selection always impresses me. I already can't wait to come back in 2025.

Great variety of merchandise that a vacationer would need. Friendly staff. Nice porch to sit and enjoy coffee or a cold softdrink.
