Went here the first time and had a great conversation about how consigning works there! Would definitely check out & can’t wait to go back to look at more stuff/sell more things. Also excited for upcoming FLEA markets on weekends!!

I found consigning with Elle at Gigi’s to be wasted effort. I went to the store just to browse one day and Elle suggested very enthusiastically that I bring some things to consign. Based on the items that she had in the store I felt that could be a good idea, and she brought it up so I thought it would be casual since her items in store were not designer. She told me that consigning is by appointment and that I should price everything at at least $10, tag my items, bring hangers, and bring an itemized list of everything. I thought this was quite involved, but I spent hours going through everything I had and doing as she said. I priced and tagged all items that I felt were worth at least $10 and a few other items I left blank because I wasn’t sure how she would want to price them and I didn’t want to waste tags redoing them if she didn’t agree or didn’t want them. I also intended to donate everything she didn’t want to consign. I packed everything in a box with all of the spare hangers I had in my closet and didn’t hang anything to make transporting them easier. I didn’t expect to get the hangers back so I didn’t have enough for every single piece but I expected some pieces to not be accepted.
I changed my appointment time last minute and Elle accommodated that which I appreciated. But as soon as I got to the store and she saw that my items were in a box and not already on the hangers, she pretty much denied it all. She didn’t want me finishing the tags that I left blank to ask for her opinion on the prices in her store, she wanted me to come back with it all done for her. I was fine with finishing the tags in my car but she still said no. Then I said well most of my stuff is tagged, can you just take as many items as I have hangers for and she still would not take anything. I felt that Gigi’s consignment policy is lazy. They want the sellers to do absolutely everything and still take a 35% cut. Most consignment stores sort, price, tag, hang items for you. Also, there were items in the store on ‘ugly’ hangers and multiple items hung on one hanger to be sold, so it doesn’t make sense that she was stricter with me than other sellers. She should have a written policy and state clearly that if the seller deviates from her expectations at all then she will not accept them in order to avoid wasting people’s time.
