5-Star review for a superb store with remarkable products and people. Mike is outstanding and quickly resolved an issue unrelated to his store professionally and effectively. Just plugged all of this in (a tiny mobile HF and mobile antenna on a vehicle) and picking up Malawi from Denver on 14Mhz. Outstanding. Highly recommend.

I needed two radios quick for an upcoming trip. I called HRO Denver after placing an online order to work out shipping. I received the best customer service I had seen all year from any store in any industry. The employee assisting me gathered the items in hand before the actual order even came through the system just to make sure it was there and would ship asap.

The shop was friendly, patient and action oriented. In a world of accessibility with countless options for brick and mortar vs online sales, this is how you earn and keep business.

I live in Utah and now have no need to look or go elsewhere for my next radio related purchases. I will absolutely recommend and use HRO Denver in the future.

As a search and rescue volunteer in Colorado, we rely on amateur radio as an important part of our comms plan and location tracking through APRS (all VHF/UHF). I've only been a customer for a couple years, but the employees at HRO-Denver are helpful and informative about radio selection, antenna performance, product features, programming, and accessories to optimize the work we do.

I was surprised to learn that most of them are retired/semi-retired professionals working part-time just to be more involved in a hobby they love. There is so much information about (and diverse uses for) amateur radio, that it is impossible for any one person to know everything, but they certainly were supportive in asking other staff (and sometimes customers in the store!) for their experiences and insights. If they couldn't find it amongst themselves, they would even research online resources that I never knew existed. They also provided references to local/regional tech nets where I could not only participate in using ham radio for activities outside of SAR, but speak with and learn from some very technically knowledgeable enthusiasts.

My experience has been so positive because of them, that I've even begun exploring more on the HF side for leisure. I have a trip to Santiago, Chile coming up and will be buying a mobile HF radio and antenna to play with while abroad. They have been helpful in pointing me in the right direction to make sure I have all the paperwork and learn the procedures for reciprocity compliance while operating a station outside the USA.

On occasion, I may find something cheaper elsewhere, but their wealth of knowledge and willingness to spend time with me (when they are not swamped with other customers) makes it worth being a loyal customer every time! For the best experience, if your schedule allows, I strongly recommend coming in during slower times and avoid showing up 10 min before they close, so you can enjoy an old-fashioned, "barber shop" style customer experience with some great conversations.

Eric & team were a great help today. I stopped in and was debating on 2 different HF radios, and it became a wonderful conversation between 4 ham radio operators giving their experience and non-biased opinions. I walked out confident about the purchase and couldn’t be happier with my new HF rig.

Was greeted when I entered store.
Asked for a speaker and both clerks suggested another brand they both use. Purchased 2 for $20 less than one name brand speaker.

Super nice and helpful guys! I Had alot of questions that they had answers for. I ended up getting a icom 5100 from them a few weeks later and didn't have nor one problem with shipping or the package. The store had so much stuff, I was overwhelmed but excited all at the same time. They have radios you can mess with and all the books you could think of. They have everything! Thanks aging and I will be back again.

Laura at customer service was exceptional! I cannot say enough good things......I ordered an Icom radio over the weekend, and promptly watched some reviews and head to head challenges AFTER I ordered the Icom......Needless to say I changed my mind and wanted to cancel my order for the Icom and go with a Yaesu.....MOST companies wouldnt be willing to go the extra mile and make this change mid-transaction....Laura and the gang at the Denver HRO were willing to make this happen, and not only made the change, they were willing to only bill me for the difference between the two radios......I dont have to deal with fully refunding the Icom radio and then fully getting charged with the Yaesu....they simply charged me the difference! Keeping things simple and straight forward, YAY!!! In this day and age, being able to speak with a human and coming up with simple and easy solutions is refreshing. Too many times I get the response "our system wont allow that"......Thanks and KUDOS to the Denver HRO!

Probably the only place within 500 mi that you can buy amateur radio bits and bobs. Everything from connector ends to full-blown SDR transceivers. A great collection of ARRL books as well. Amateur radio Nirvana!

I think what makes this store stand out is the staff. They are all super helpful and more like talking to your buddy and not a retail salesperson. They go out of their way to help you get what you need and if something isn't right, they work to fix it. And you see the same people working there when you come in. It's not someone different every time due to high turnover.

It is so nice to have a HRO only a few miles away from my house! My wife may disagree with that statement, but she did really appreciate the staff when she went shopping for my birthday present. (I have the best wife ever!) Being able to look at, and purchase radio gear, when I want it "right now" is wonderful. The staff is always friendly and ready to answer any questions I have. At the same time they will let me browse the "candy store" without being overbearing. No sales pressure whatsoever. HRO is a gem that I really appreciate!

Not only are the employees knowledgeable, they are most importantly patient and very willing to share their knowledge and experiences. Ham radio is a surprisingly complex and diverse hobby so having someone to answer your questions is invaluable.

Yesterday I went to HRO to exchange an AnyTone 878 UV II Plus after I noticed the GPS wasn't working under several conditions. They exchanged the radio with no questions asked. Unfortunately, they forgot to pack my battery and antenna, but they literally delivered it to me after the store had closed the same day to make it right. No other business would have done that for me. The radio works absolutely great. Thank you guys for going above and beyond!

Not to mention, I'm legally blind and these guys held the door open for me, helped me with my card, offered to help carry the radio out to the car, and everything else. I will be buying my radios exclusively from HRO from now on.
