Purple Rice

Many people don't realize that you can buy fresh made lunch here and not just groceries. Alex makes a tasty Asian inspired lunch each day, Monday through Friday. Each day only one type of dish is available. For example, on Thursdays she always makes sushi which always sells out fast. This visit, sweet and sour soup was available. The daily dish is generally available starting at noon or shortly after and is available until it sells out. Sometimes seaweed salad or kimchi is also available in the cooler. Not only is the food consistently delicious but Alex is always a delight to interact with. I highly recommend checking out Purple Rice for a grab and go lunch. I've never been disappointed.

What a fun place! They have itcsll, including very friendly and open service from ... I don't know who (we were visiting the area; maybe the owner, very knowledgeable), and that transformed the stop into a surprisingly pleasant experience.

I've been meaning to go here for some time and I'm kicking myself that it took this long. I cook a lot of Korean food plus other dishes that use ingredients that are hard to find locally or cost an arm and a leg online. Purple Rice had a great selection, even while they're bouncing back from smoke damage from a neighboring location's fire. I was so happy to look around and find so much good stuff. Can't wait to go back. The owner is super friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I'm so glad we have this store around here.

The owner is very kind and knows what they have in their store. The selection is great (with items from all over Asia) with reasonable prices. You can find anything from fresh veggies to refrigerated snacks to frozen seafood platters for hotpot for which they have various soup bases. This store is definitely being added to my must visit list anytime I'm in Potsdam.

Great option for Asian products and produce in the North Country. Some occasional homemade soups and such which are always worth getting when they are available

I lived in Pierrepont for many years before moving. Would always shop at Purple Rice. Alex was always so helpful. All her products were fresh. She taught me how to make many dishes. Miss her and her stire.

Alex is a great proprietor and offers great service and suggestions. There are a lot of great ingredients available fir your Asian cooming recipes. If you arrive noontime the lunches are great but made in limited amounts and go quick. Usually, lunch is chef's choice but never disappointing.

I haven't lived in Potsdam in years, but was just talking to someone about what nice memories I had of those place and the family who owns it. Had to look it up and thrilled to see them still in business! Saved my life finding the right ingredients for the job more than once.

Such a nice and efficient store owner with a great sense of humor! I had placed my order via phone and upon my arrival at the store asked the owner a few questions. She was super helpful and knowledgeable and even gave us some sample Chinese candies! The bean sprouts were the freshest I've ever purchased! Thank you!

Alex the owner is awesome! She is so friendly & helpful. The store may be small but it carries most essential Asian things. I am able to get my Indonesian groceries including kecap AB and Indomie.

If you're living on campus and need good sushi that won't give you food poisoning- this is the place. Not only is the owner funny and sweet, she makes banging good sushi. Love her <3

I love this place! Fantastic fresh sushi on Thursdays plus a variety of delicious unique and authentic prepared meals on other week nights. Fresh fruits and vegetables and lots more Asian meal prep supplies, snacks, desserts etc. Including cookware, teapots, and traditional serving dishes. Stop in and see Alex! I can't believe the selection of quality, hard to find items that are crammed into this relatively tiny store. The products are amazing quality and a fraction of the costs that you would be paying for these items if you bought them online. I would recommend this store to anybody; the vibe is totally unpretentious and relaxed and the owner is funny and so welcoming. She answered all my questions and then some and helped me find everything I needed. Can't recommend this place enough. 10/5 stars if I could.

Very helpful staff! Had list of things to get for recpies they helped be find everything. It's reasonably priced. They even gave me a little advice and answered some questions I had about the recipes I wanted to make. Even if you think you are not interested in Asian cuisine, you should discover some recipes and try them out. You won't regret it!

I've never been here until during this pandemic. Therefore i was unaware alex was doing only curb side pick up. So i go up to the door she greets me very nicely and when i said i didnt have an order i was looking for a few things she explained she was doing curbside pick up and how to order in the future. However she still let me tell her what i was looking for and went and got every ingredient even things i spotted that i love (like ramune) and i was like "oh you have those too!" Lol 😂. She got everything very quickly and efficiently was very very kind. Also shes very knowledgeable and answers many questions! Highly recommend her store! (By the way anyone giving her any less then 5 stars you need to reevaluate yourselves 😂 lmao) This women alone is great, her and her store are worth at the very least 10 stars! However google only lets me give 5. Step up your game google lol.

I love this place. The veggies are so fresh. The owner is such a wonderful sweet , helpful person. I wish I could make it there more often. Almost makes me want to move to Potsdam.

Honestly purple rice is by far my favorite place to go in Potsdam. Owner is so friendly. Every time I go, her friendliness and kindness brightens my day. Delicious lunches and awesome food.

The one and only Asian grocery store in Potsdam. It has a wide range of grocery stock that meets every kind of needs. The location is good and the owner is a nice person.
