Moonpie John's Mercantile

I found this place by accident yesterday. I decided to come today with my hubby when they were open. My hubby and I were not disappointed. I love finding local "mom & pop" places. I love that this place is actually local to us. I will be bringing our kids and my parents here at a later date. The staff were super friendly!! I ordered The Humpburger, and it was good the way it normally comes. I couldn't even eat the whole burger, and I could only eat half of the chips. I love all the little items the store carries, and the best of all, they sell coconut 🥥 moonpies! It is so hard for me to find that flavor! I highly recommend a visit if you are in the area, but just be mindful of their holiday hours. Check FB.

Took a short drive on Sunday from Huntsville a few miles north to Moonpie John's Mercantile in New Market. We brought our little grandsons with us to pick out some Moonpie flavors and see the fun old-fashioned general store out in the country. Lots of moonpie flavors available and vintage sodas. The store also has unique Moonpie merchandise and little toys for the kids, too. Highly recommend this place for a trip back in time.

Glad we tried this place. A fun experience with unique food and a great atmosphere. I added chili to the red slaw dog and added an Elvis PB&B with peanut butter banana and bacon. Both were delicious. The combo comes with a drink chips and a pickle. The store also had about 10 flavors of moon pies in a mini size or regular. There are about 4 tables in the restaurant so seating is small. Tons of retro candy and drinks also.

I'm so glad we found this place!! They had the cutest shop, every moonpie option you could ever think about, there's a little bologna restaurant inside with a few tables, etc. It was seriously the coolest place!! They also have a wedding/event venue behind the Mercantile. They let us go in and explore. We can't wait to go back!!!

My husband and I had a nice day date and came here for lunch. Food was great. People were friendly. Overall really cute place.

What a cute little cafe and gift shop. They have so many flavors of Moon Pies, all the old school candies and lots of great gifts for everyone. The owners are so welcoming and kind. A must stop location. An unexpected, hidden gem!

This is a delightful little store run by wonderful people, and has become a favorite local community gathering spot. You can get any flavor of Moon Pie you want here, along with old-fashioned sodas and snacks, home decor and unique apparel. There are a lot of tasty and unique food options, too. My favorite is the smoked bologna sandwich, and my daughter loves to come in for ice cream or a moon pie. If you're not familiar with the area, be sure to ask the owners about the history of the store and nearby gin. It's fascinating and very unique!

I had been wanting to try for months! Finally got to try it & it was even BETTER than I thought it was going to be! Mom even talked about it for days!! Great food, great customer service even from a teenage young man, & loved the laid back around the kitchen table atmosphere!! We will definitely be going back!!

Very eclectic but only open on weekends.

We are sitting on the porch at Moonpie John's Mercantile. Our lunch is delicious. A good place to eat, relax, feel like an invited guest, and shop. Owners are hospitable. Good food. Good Moonpies & coffee.

Wonderful small town style store. It's a high percentage moonpie related, but there are lots of other things like mugs, clothing, and other knick knacks. There is also a cafe serving sandwiches and coffee. The bologna sandwiches are amazing.

Such a nice store. Some items take you back to childhood . The staff was very friendly and warm. We are planning a future lunch date there😉💚

Loved this small-town, throwback-feel experience just a short drive away. Store was delightful, food delicious, and the service was kind and welcoming. We'll definitely return!

I feel like I just went back 60 years to my grandmothers house sitting on the front porch on a summer day! So relaxing and so many good memories I’m hoping to create with our grandson, Brantley!

So good I had to double dip today. Pimento cheese hotdogs with a side of the red beans and rice. (Ok, I triple dipped, because I had an ice cream cone as well!) Best atmosphere and best lunch in the area! Moonpie John’s Mercantile should be on everyone's weekend destination.
