He’s the guy that other Luthers go to when they get stumped, I’ve taken some guitars to him that no one else in the south east could work on. His shop is small and he has a few parts but it’s not guitar Center. if you want to support local, go to the fret shop. Thank you Tommy, my guitars play amazing!

I’ve been patronizing T Shepard for almost 10 years. I’ve purchased new and used, custom-built or ‘standard’ guitars, amps and guitars and cases and accessories. I've heard about this shop for years and I've seen/played a few of Tommy's guitars around Huntsville so I had to come check it out. Cool little shop with a few masterpieces on the wall to check out. Mostly Fender body styles, but man Tommy knows exactly what he's doing and you can feel it from the first strum. Great place to go for repairs of all sorts, Tommy does great work.

If you need guitar work done, look no further than Tom. He's had a few of my guitars now and I'm always blown away at the quality of the work. There's a reason he's the most recommended local luthier in the area- he's got the mojo.

Nicest guys working there great prices on awesome rare gear. If I can help it I'll be doing all my business through them now. I wound up there because the guitar tech at the Fret Shop was too snobby to work on my guitar but Mr. Shepard opened the case eyed it over and gave me a good price for the work in less than a minute. Lots of awesome guitars that he has made himself as well. I can't speak highly enough about this place.

Tommy is the man to take your electric guitars to for setup or repairs in the Huntsville area. He’s been around for years, is knowledgeable, kind, and gives good advice. He has always done a perfect job with every project I’ve given him. The latest was a setup and fret recrowning on my Les Paul. I thought it needed a refret, but he assured me there was enough fret material there that a recrown would make me happy. He was right and I saved a lot of money. It plays like butter now.

I have been dealing with Tommy for close to 35 years. I have followed him wherever he has been through those years. I have purchased countless new and used guitars and gear over all these years. As well having all of my guitars setup and serviced, custom builds, it just goes on and on. I don’t remember ever in all these years having a bad experience. If I have, he obviously took care of it and erased it from my memory. He is just a great guy and he does the best work. I refer to him as the “Godfather of local guitarist”. Highly Recommend!

I took a guitar to Tommy for the first time 25 years ago when I was still in high school. I’d payed two other guys to help me and got it back and failed again. I met Tommy after moving to town and he messed with it for just a minute right in front of me and it was fixed. I’ve been a devotee since. I have a tele that is still my main guitar years later that he did some heavy modifications for me. I once had him set up a guitar for me so I could sell it and when I got it back I decided to keep it because it played so great. Great custom builds as well! Class act, great at what he does an amazing asset to the community.

I bought a set of strings for my acoustic bass. I prefer to buy local when I can. And I prefer small business owners to big chains. I bought some percussion equipment from Tommy Shepherd when he wad in a bigger store. I've never had him do any guitar work for me, but I've known some people who swear by him. He builds electric guitars and basses.

Tommy is one of the "good guys " in an industry filled with so many of the other. VERY knowledgeable and experienced and one of the absolute BEST fretted instrument repair service guys in the southeast ! I have shopped with Tommy since I was a teen (I am now in my late 40's) and he has always been helpful and courteous and will go out of his way to help you with anything you need. If you just want a lowball price on a specific item you can google it or get it off AMAZON like so many people do these days BUT if you enjoy getting great service and a fair price and want to support your neighbors T. Went there a few weeks ago in search of wooden/organic picks. A friend told me about the place. The guy running the joint was a nice guy and was pretty friendly. While checking out and dealing with computer issues (who hasn't had those days), I looked around the place to see what I could see. I noticed a couple of really good looking custom builds and quite a bit of run of the mill "previously loved" gear. They seem to have a nice selection for the discerning guitarist. All in all a good experience in a seemingly nice and friendly neighborhood music store.

I love T Shepherd's. I always get great service and really good advice. One of the few places a musician can actually get the kind of help he needs. It's been my go to music store for at least 30 years.

Top notch work. He was kind enough to install an Anthem pickup system, but use the existing LR Baggs Hex piezo that was already there.... and he did an amazing job. Set up after was perfect. The guitar was a Del Langejans and it sounds beautiful. Highly recommend this shop for your high end work. Or low end too lol.
