Over the Rainbow Toy Store

In my high school days I worked in a high Toy and Hobby shop in Southern California that catered to notable celebrities. I felt that connection here with Over the Rainbow toys. An excellent and rather innovatively organized collection of higher end "thinking" and "educational" toys/games/items to challenge yours and your children's minds. Really enjoyed the great customer service and friendly, welcoming environment. Highly Recommended.

Best little toy store in Anchorage. My kids and I have been coming here since they were wee little ones. And sometimes we pop in to buy stuff since we are still kids at heart. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. I feel at home here.

My 6 year old daughter had saved her money and was in hopes of buying a new baby doll. Danni at over the rainbow just made her day. As we went to pay we realized we forgot my daughters wallet. We returned from the car to purchase the doll and Danni announced it was the same amount as my daughter had in her wallet. I asked a few times if she was sure as this was so unexpected and not totally accurate. She assured me it was fine and to enjoy the new baby doll. My daughter was beyond thrilled. THANK YOU OVER THE RAINBOW. You just made a little girls year!!!

Parents this is the best SERVICE and selection in All of Anchorage. Do yourself a favor and shop local.

They have board games! They also have tons of toys and puzzles. Lots of great last minute gift ideas can be found here. There is a wheelchair accessible entrance.

Over the Rainbow is an excellent toy store. They have a wide variety of toys and the staff are friendly and helpful. I've gone here for years and have always had a good experience.

What a fantastic local toy store! I live in the Dallas area and was able to purchase gifts for my Anchorage-based nieces from the comfort of my couch. I browsed their inventory online, paid online and left a note that my extended family would be picking the gifts up. Great selection and fair prices. They also wrapped the gifts at no charge! Within an hour, I received a call from a very nice employee that it was ready for them to pickup. My mom ordered from them as well and had the same experience. I love supporting local places, now more than ever, and this store really goes above and beyond! Look forward to buying from them again.

Great selection of quality toys for all ages. They have a good selection of seasonal toys- bubbles, gardening kits & pool toys in the summer, etc. They have a great selection of puzzles, stuffed animals, dress up clothes and Legos as well. My go-to in Anchorage for toys!

The employees were incredibly polite and helpful. The store has lots of one of a kind toys. As far as prices go, on the items I purchased they were actually cheaper than online vendors. I got some brio wooden railways pieces and some one off baby toys as well as some dinosaur pieces. Very happy with the experience.

So thankful for this amazing store and the staff here. My little guy was sick and really wanted a new dragon. We were able to sit in the parking lot and have the staff hold up dragons so our little guy could choose. The staff were amazing, helpful, kind, sensitive to our request. I’ve always loved this magical store, but today I’m beyond thankful they helped us cheer up a sick little fella and keep others safe by not having us in the store.

Very friendly, very helpful staff. Gift-wrapped my items at no charge. They have a large selection of children's toys and accommodated my requests. I would recommend going there if you want to see a smile on a child's face.

One of the best toy stores I've ever been in. From little road trip entertainment things to outside toys, great selection and unique finds. I have as much fun as my daughter looking around. Plus we all love getting the catalog.

Pretty good toy store. Prices were good enough that buying from Amazon wasn't really cheaper. They have a little of everything, good selection of games. I went in for wooden train track stuff, they carry some nice Brio stuff from Sweden. I was easily in there for an hour.

I don't know how many times I've gone here to grab a gift and found what I needed! The staff is great and helpful, the game selection is quite good and I love the location so close to home. I try to buy here whenever I can. They're especially wonderful to do the gift wrapping for you, just a terrific bonus!

This is an amazing toy store! 🤩 You could get lost in this place because of all the great toys and stuff they have! Great puzzles, games, learning materials and games for the mind, old school toys that bring back lots of childhood memories at my grandmother's house, books, lots and lots of great things. 👍🏼

Was looking for a train set for my kids and a woman working told me right where to find them. They had a much better selection than a store in Wasilla. When checking out another woman working was very friendly and also helped me grab a train whistle. No train set is complete without one! Got a discount for my kids birthday as well!
They had a massive selection of great toy choices. We will be back when we need anything else.

Great place to do business with, very friendly and helpful. My daughter, grandkids live in Anchorage Alaska and getting presents mailed is ridiculous and very expensive and slower than snail pace.
This business is a kids store full of games and lots of educational toys and books, y grandkids love the store and my daughter takes them there as much as they can. So I wanted to purchase a gift card or certificate by phone so my daughter can stop and pick it up and the store manager returned my call and said they would be glad to assist me by purchasing a gift card.
Really appreciate the I assist and help in this manner and my grandson will really enjoy spending his gift card I'm sure.

Toys stores in Anchorage are a rare breed nowadays. With Toys R Us gone, you're relegated to big box stores who have great stuff but are lacking a lot of classics and ones that are outside of the mainstream. Over the Rainbow has something for just about everyone as long as it isn't mainstream toys like Marvel, Star Wars and the things you'd see front and center at big box places.

I've picked up all kinds of things for my kids: costumes, the old reliable wooden train whistle, lots of neat science toys, a stuffed black cat toy, construction equipment (excavators, bulldozers, etc.) toys, model dinosaurs and a whole lot more. They even sell Trick or Treat in the Heat ticket/arm bands as well.

Staff is great and there are always neat things to play with both indoor and outdoor toys. Give this place a visit!

I visited here just recently looking for an odd toy that I couldn't find anywhere else in town. The staff members and from what I assume to be the owner, were very knowledgeable and welcoming into the store. When I did find the toy I needed, they made sure that it fit what I needed and gladly helped out in making sure I was taken care of.
Great overall experience and I will be back for all of my other toy needs.
