Five stars for the New York State Trooper Foundation as a whole. Thank you, police officers for your commitment and dedication to your communities and for keeping us safe every day. This review is specifically regarding the New York State Trooper Foundation gift shop, as I can't say much about the employees that run it in terms of timeliness, professionalism and customer service.

I ordered an item on December 20th and still hadn’t received it on January 2nd. I left a phone message and got no return call. I called again January 10th only to leave another message. At this point I just wanted my card credited. No return call. I sent a Facebook message January 12th. No return message with an explanation. I then received the item on the 15th. Pretty sure it doesn’t take three and a half weeks to send something from Albany to Buffalo. It had just been sent.

I finally spoke to one of the employees when I received my item, asking what had happened. She had no answer and although she apologized, she would not own up to anything and instead got defensive saying there are only two employees running the store and they shut down for inventory for a month and don’t respond to anyone.

Perhaps a message on the website or voice mail box saying they close for a period would be appropriate or helpful so customers waiting for their orders are not left wondering where their items are? I can’t understand why closing for a few weeks means you can’t send out one item (ordered prior to the store shutting down for inventory), nor can I understand why it’s impossible to take a few minutes to respond to a customer explaining why you can’t send something. I was about to dispute the transaction with my credit card when I finally received it a month later.

I told this employee I am very understanding if something is explained-item is on backorder, we close for a month, or we simply got busy and forgot to send it. Just own up to your mistake but please, don’t ignore your customer-just take a quick minute or two to write back. Please don’t make them leave three unanswered messages. After receiving my order, I still had to ask them to reach out to me to find out what happened.

I’ve spent hundreds of dollars over the past few years at this store but I’m not sure I will anymore simply because of the poor service and lack of care and concern by the staff. I hate labeling someone as rude or careless but I’m just not sure what a logical explanation is for being ignored, nor am I sure what a reasonable explanation is for one item taking nearly a month to arrive from Albany to Buffalo. This was simply poor.

This was not the first time I had a problem with them regarding an order not received and my card still charged. Furthermore, every time I have spoken to this employee on the phone, she is--put nicely--less than pleasant.

I will say the items are very nice--high quality and worth what you pay-when you finally get them.

Lastly-when I originally posted this review on the New York State Trooper Foundation’s Facebook Page, all reviews, including this one, were deleted the next morning.

Again, this review is regarding the store/gift shop and one particular employee, whose name will not be mentioned; NOT the Trooper Foundation itself.
