Shutter Shop

Passionate and genuine owner runs this store just above the Grill restaurant. It is a bit difficult to find so here are some tips.
1. You will notice 55B seems to be an office but there's an alley walk in.
2. You will see a restaurant with a GRILL signboard and a small coffeeshop.
3. Shutter Shop is on the second floor of the GRILL restaurant
4. The friendly folks at the restaurant will point you or call the owner if he isn't around.

It's not a big shop but they have a wide range of European vintage cameras and lenses. The owner will ask for your preferences and even show you his rare collection. I easily spent an hour as he gave me a tutorial on how to use the camera and share his knowledge. For a first time film shooter expecting to pick up a point and shoot, it was a very good experience for me.

Of the two cameras, he even pushed me to the cheaper option as it was more user friendly to my skill level and you can tell he is just passionate about his craft.

Owner repairs and services all the camera's himself. Has a great selection of all kinds of vintage camera's with good prices. As stated in a different review a bit hard to find but the people at the Grill place were very helpful. Owner wasn't there so they called him for us.

Lovely analog camera shop hidden on the second floor of a restaurant. Great selection of cameras (even a modern DSLR in the mix). Kien was very patient and helpful through my indecisiveness, showing me a handful of cameras that fit my needs. Ended up buying a Rollei 35 in quite good condition and Kien insisted on making sure I knew all the tips and tricks to this little camera before I left

Hi, I have a problem with my Canon Canonet 1961, the shutter speed ring is stuck. A camera repair shop in Hoi An told me he had to take 2 loose screws and put them back. He said he needed more time than I had in Hoi An so I thought maybe you could help me? I will be in Hanoi for a few hours in the morning of 7 February and will be back shortly on 12/13 February. Is repair possible? Or do you maybe have a nice similar replacement camera for me available to purchase? I look forward to hearing from you! :) Do you maybe have a number that I can Whatsapp you with?

cute shop for analog cameras! a bit hard to find: walk into the backyard (55B), then it’s a nice Grill Lab. take the stairs right side of the restaurant and you’ll find it in the first floor. not sure about opening times
