Finally found contact lenses here. They sell different brands but all of them are extremely expensive vs European prices (incl Japanese and South Korean brands)

My wife and I visited Hanoi specifically to find some contact lenses for her whilst in Vietnam. She has a strong prescription (-9 and -9.5) and they are quite difficult to find without paying a fortune online and waiting weeks. We visited this opticians and they were so wonderful to us. As their prices are so good and my wife’s glasses had lost some of their coating, we decided we would buy some new glasses at the same time.

They provided a free eye test (the optometrist was so lovely!), and although we didn’t share a language they made a lot of effort to help us understand options and prices.

After one hour, they had made not one but two pairs of glasses (one pair using her original frames) — the same service takes weeks elsewhere in the world. They also had her contact lenses in stock (charging 40k VND per day - much cheaper than anywhere else we have been). The new lenses were the most expensive ones they did (very thin, considering her prescription), and cost less than 3,000,000 VND per pair (about £100) - the same lenses and frames cost £600 in the UK.
