We dropped in here at 2pm after a long hike. We were thirsty and very hungry. We were served a perfect meal of soup, bread, rice, salad, cheese, pickles and cake soaked in honey, all for a very reasonable price. We left full and happy. Thank you

Cafe place, but not only! It is a hostel with with a few shared rooms.
Place operated by very kind family.
In price (25 euro per person per night), there is also breakfast, dinner or supper, and picnic package.
Rooms are clean, bathroom is superb and view from windows are remarkable!

For late supper we received a bottle of local vodka from the owner.
Site can be reached by 4x4 car or enduro motorbike.
They serve an albanian bottle beer per 200 lece.

Came here twice for well earned beers during our mountain walks.

The people were really friendly and the view is great. They also gave us some homegrown apples that were lovely.

We didn't have any problems with the prices - 200 leke for a large beer seems fine to me :)

we stayed 1 night here, lovely place, people and view. its remote and at the end of a 2 km dirt road. so real remote feeling, quiet, and amazing views. there are also so cool walking trails starting nearby to higher up in the mountains. 25euro per person incl breakfast and dinner. Food was nice, basic, homecooked. we slept very well. next day they dropped us at the start of the trail to teth.

Very friendly family runned hostel. You get to live in their house surrounded by stunning views. Dinner is composed of traditional local foods - tasty and filling after a long hike (you also get some homemade rakia)

Beautifull place and guesthouse.
Family friendly, organise trekking with horses for children.

The view was beautiful and the lady was nice but it was super expensive for a meal we don't get to choose (salad, raw veggies, cheese, bread and soup, with 2 beers, 1 coke and 2 glasses of wine) 3000 leke! No bill, it felt like they just invented a price... we went to a lot of restaurants in Albania and we were very surprised by the price, not worth it!

We went on a small hike from Valbone and stumbled upon this place by accident. It wasn’t really signposted but we took our chances on the off chance they sold coffee and maybe a beer. A very friendly woman came out and offered us a drink (although she spoke no english). We asked if she sold food (meaning, did she have a menu) and she disappeared without really clarifying and then returned 15 mins later with three plates of salad and sausage. In that time, we connected to the wifi and read the other reviews on google. We only had 1000 LEK on us, so before we started eating we asked how much it all was. She initially suggested it was 5000 LEK per person (£35 / €40!!) but then suggested maybe 500-700 LEK. We told her we didn’t have enough money but she didn’t (or claimed not to) understand; eventually a son came out and reluctantly accepted 900 LEK for everything. I’ve no idea whether they were scammers, chancers or just a severe case of lost in translation but either way it was a very odd and uncomfortable experience. That said, the salad was tasty and the setting was homely with a good view. If you want to go, just be up front and clear about prices before ordering.

They stole money from our luggage in our Room! Don't go there!

We (two friends) stayed at Kukaj in the first week of October. We went up there without reservation or booking and have been the ONLY people in the house beside the host family. On the second day we went on a day long hike to the Maja Rosit and told them so at breakfast. We left most of our stuff, including my wallet in a bag in our room and did not lock the door (the house is a 30 minutes walk uphill from the main road; we where the only guests; our room was on the upper floor; our stuff was in a bag. We did not expect something to happen!). In the evening (we where still the only guests!) we repacked everything in our backpacks and prepared our stuff since we where about to leave (and pay) the next day. That was when i noticed one of three 5000 LEK bills was missing from my wallet.
At first we could not believe this has happened. But we know exactly how much money we brought with us before we hiked up to this remote place. So we calculated everything back and forth like ten times and talked about every possibility we could have lost this one bill during the past 24 hours. But there was none and every calculation missed exactly this very 5000 LEK bill in my wallet.
We wanted to leave but it was already dark so we decided to stay and talk to our host after breakfast when we where about to pay. During our stay it was the mother or the daughter who served dishes , but the mother was the one we had the most contact with. So we decided to talk to her and even prepared some text in a translation app. But when it was time to pay (and talk) she suddenly disappeared the two sons (both around 20) where now standing in front of us demanding money. This was quite intimidating and felt like they know what we wanted to talk about. Me and my friend we discussed in front of them what to do now (in our language) and then decided to leave since it was a bit frighting. We gave them our money and left. The mother or daughter did not even came back out to say goodbye.
We stayed in Albania for another week past that. In the end we again calculated everything we did withdraw and everything we spend (we made notes) during this trip and it is exactly this very 5000 LEK bill that is still missing today.
Don't go there! Shame on them!

Do not eat or stay here! They charged us 100 Euro (12,000 lek) for a lunch of pasta, bread, and roasted peppers for two people - easily twenty times more than you would pay for the same meal anywhere else in Albania. When we asked them to be reasonable with the price they refused to lower it and physically intimidated us until we paid, similar to the other reviewer who had money stolen from their room.

This family is not trustworthy, and it is shameful that they put such a bad mark on a community of otherwise kind, honest people.

We didnt’t stay at this guesthouse but took a ride from Valbona to Feirze with them, were initially told that the price is 15eur per car (which fits 4 people). After arriving in Fierze (with a really old yellow van and 4 other passengers) we were told that the price is 15 per person! The driver insisted that we pay this amount. Overall including all of the other reviews I would really suggest you find someplace else as this family seems just a bunch of scammers!

Nice view, but 500 lek (about 4€) for a coffee and a lemon soda is just too much. Another traveler had to pay 4000 lek for eggs and sausages plus drink for 3 people. He warned us about the prices so we choose not to eat there. The women just invents prices according to what you give her. And there is no change. Not worth the view!
