Gasthaus Kohlhof Abtenau

It was a great experience, it is the best restaurant in the village, you must try it if you visit Abtenau. They have a great and delicious food in addition to a great atmosphere. Thanks for Lea who recommended for us the best from the menu.

Great restaurant with pleasant service. Very tasty food. A bit disappointing experience with closed road (you need to turn near Russegger Bau) and no warning on first turn at the bottom of the hill.

EDIT: 4 years have passed since our last visit to this restaurant, since then the place has been redecorated to populate more diners, a nice balcony was added outside. The experience remains the same: best place we had a meal in all of Asutria. and this was our fourth visit to Austria...
The food, the service, the location, the view, everything was simply perfect. If you happen to be around Abtenau, you must not miss this place. Realy.

Great food, for kids and adults, amazing view, recommended to sit outside if the weather allows it. Super friendly family staff and very good service. Reasonable pricing. One of the best places we had a meal in all of Austria. Totally recommended! Six stars.

Wonderful view, fantastic food and excellent coffee! Add to this very friendly staff. The ambient is nice and also has a playing room with toys and books for children. A wonderful experience that totally worth the way to the restaurant.

Excellent local food, good prices, good hosts and lots of smiles, they helped us in English (since we don't know any German) and an incredible view.

You couldn't expect any better in the surrounding area, this was an optimal dinner experience.

Agree with what was written so far. Indeed after 5 days in Austria the best dinning experience. The food: best schneezel, the meatless dumplings are great. Beaf toast was almost there, too overdone to my taste. The coffee also wasn't sour. Service was attentive , although they did t speak English well. The restaurant itself looks new , clean.

The waitress was kind, happy, and patient with all our questions about the menu- even answering them in english.
Beat meals we had in Austria- would recommend the the meat Bismarck and burger, but the schnitzel, cordon Bleu, and kasnocken were also great!
Worth noting their English menu was missing a few items (including the burger) that were on the Austrian one, so ask for both and translate!

Best food we had in the area of Abtenau. Their service is great. The dishes show an understanding of how to treat meat as well as good presentation. We liked their mix grill and the burgers. Their mushroom soup is one of the best we ever had.
