An amazing castle with a great view. We were lucky to visit it when there was a Christmas Market - which was quite cool and had many varieties of products being sold. Worth checking it out. We got the tickets online, parking was under the hill where the castle stands and for a small fee of 12 euros (which includes a bus taking you to the castle, Christmas market entrance and the castle visiting. To specific places - as far as I'm aware there are no tours as the castle is not big enough, but i can be wrong).

Anazing place! I wish I knew about it earlier. We have been tgere for Christmass celebrations this year. We all are impressed, because we have never seen anything such well organised with trabsportation, entrance, payments, toilets, parking, entertainment, and kindness. Well done! 🔥

Exceptional place to visit. The view is breathtaking and the castle is fascinating as well, they take good care of it.

A ruin maybe sounds a bit boring, but this was formidable. A lot of wooden trails made the burg nicely accessible, and there was a lot of information signs for deeper knowledge. Oldest walls were founded in the 12 century, and 1436 the first service was held in the small chapel.

Wonderful castle located in the Wachau. It is reachable by foot via a one hour trail from the bottom of the hill or by car with which you can drive up to the very entrance. There are a few large rocks besides the castle which can be used to climb up (the bigger ones should only be used by experienced climbers). The view there is quite nice, however the best view towards the valley is only possible from the castle itself. I personally would recommend to hike up if you do not fear a few moderately steep pieces along the way, with hiking sticks it should be easier. Total time up and down is about 1,5-2 hours depending on your fitness and amount of breaks. The way is well described and easy to find.
If you are around of course you should check out Stift Melk and the city below :) come for the castle, stay for the apricots (and there are lots 😁)

Very nice place to visit. I was surprised how many visitors are coming to this place. You need to park your car under the castle and then you can go uphill on foot or with the bus. We took the bus. Return ticket costs 2 Euros per person. Entrance to the castle is 6 Euros.
Remains of the castle look very good. Very nice view on the river and the valley. Going around castle is easy and interesting. Many places to buy some small things, or some gifts. Few places where you can eat and drink.
Very nice nature surrounding the castle.
Nice daytrip. For every recommendation

Definitely worth the visit (I arrived with my bike!). Well maintained, variety of spots to view the magnificent views. Before entering the castle, don't miss the view point right to the entrance.

We were in Burgruine Aggstein on last Sunday. It is a really beautiful place, and the 8 Euro for the ticket is worth it, because the owners maintain the place. You can go up there on foot or by a bus (it costs 3 euro/1 person). That was one of my best experiences.

Lovely old castle near Danube river. Wonderful view over Wachau wine Valley. If you enjoy walking, leave your car on the parking near the river. It is about 40 minutes climbing through a nice forest path. The restaurant inside the castle is also a nice place for a refreshment of a meal. I can highly recommend this place!

One of the most iconic castels in the area. Well worth the walk / drive up. Entry is reasonable at 7 euros.

The restaurant inside is good, not great, but good. At least it's not a tourist trap and it has stunning views.

Beautiful castle well worth the visit. Although you can park right at the castle I recommend that you park at the river and continue for roughly 2.5km on foot. I would also recommend the restaurant inside the castle.

Beautiful place for a weekend hike! We recommend taking the hiking trail through the forest but you can also reach it by car.

I love the Wachau valley so for me it's an amazing place. Stunning views from there. Tasty food in the restaurant which is right in the courtyard. Adults pay 6,90€ plus 1,50€ for the audio guide. Definitely worth visiting.

The castle is super nice, many views to visit, climb stairs, and enjoy the overview. There is possibility to play "outdoor" or "indoor" escape room. Outdoor is equiped with small speaker you are caeeing, touching prepaired pannels and prepared boxes listening stories and solving puzzels. I have not tried but you can see a lot of items around. There is indoor and outdoor place to get some drink and meal, but price is quite high. I love oppoetunity to take a dog with me all the time ! The path to castle is narrow road for one car and it is very steep. When you get to castle there are several parking places in front of the castle. I could recommend to families with childreen to visit this beutiful castle.
