Temple of Mithras

Apparently made by the old Roman garrisons that were in this place, no doubt influenced by some Zoroastrian members of the old Persian legions, made out of one massive rock formation...

Small but awesome temple of Mithras from 2nd or 4th century. In the middle of some nice houses (would like to live there!) we parked outside the electrical shop on the corner and no one seemed to mind.

This is absolutely crucial to visit. Mithras was the supreme God of Sun and this is very important and ancient sight

21.6.2021 seems to be closed since long term-but all visibly from outside,free of charge,just without any explanation!Just take care of your steps as sheltering construction already is disassembling while Mithras-shrine still after 2000 years in good condition..

The temple of the god Miter is an old-age temple in Jajce. Starorimska is a Mithraist building.

It lies beneath the old town from its southwestern side, and is west-east oriented. It is located in a wet area known as the Bare site about 200 m southwest of the medieval city on the left bank of the Pliva. His first researcher was Dimitrije Sergejevski. The oldest monument in Jajce, and among the oldest in BiH, comes from the IV. st. It is an old Indo-Iranian deity of the Sun and Light, whose cult from Asia Minor brought Roman soldiers. The monument was discovered in 1931 near the present hotel "Tuirst 98" and is well preserved.

Najljepši Mitrasov hram u Europi koji se na sreću nalazi in situ. Pravo je čudo da je ostao čitav pored svih nedaća koje su pogađale ovo predivno bosansko mjesto. Pametan je bio taj drevni klesar koji je božanstvo isklesao u živoj stijeni. Tako je postao živi svjedok jedne iščezle religije. Inače bi završio negdje u mračnom kutku nekog muzeja. Ovako je prava turistička atrakcija, na zadovoljstvo kulturnih poslanika. Dođi, vidi, doživi historiju.

Hram boga Mitre najstariji je nacionalni spomenik u Jajcu i predstavlja boga Mitru u ljudskom obliku. Mitra je jedno od sedam božanstava mitraizma, perzijsko božanstvo poznato i na našem području.
Hram boga Mitre 2003. godine je proglašen nacionalnim spomenikom u Bosni i Hercegovini, a na području Jajca se nalazi blizu 30 nacionalnih spomenika, zbog čega je proglašen muzejem pod otvorenim nebom.
