very fun place to go! there was a lot of kids and also a bunch of adults enjoying the museum! not super big so only took me a bit less than 1 hour to look at everything. if you don’t speak dutch, unfortunately a lot of the exhibitions don’t have translation for english. was nice regardless!

Small museum, but certainly a must see in the town. In a cozy atmosphere you could enjoy a nice collection within permanent, temporary exhibitions and outside.
The specialty of museum is ancient animals found very close by to Maastricht - mammoths and dinos.
It is a nice visit for both children and adults. Small souvenir shop is available.

Nice museum to visit. Many details about nature including extinct and exist animals, big and small sizes. They also have temporary exhibition, it was about insect photography when I went.

One of my all time favourite museums, I will always visit when I'm in the vicinity. I think it is the combination of the charm of the location and the historic building with its music-filled garden and slightly dusty stuffed birds contrasting with some truly important specimens and effective presentation. Solid science and atmosphere.

Home to the iconic mosasaur Ber. Lots of interesting stuff and a nice lab where people can see the preparation of fossils. Don’t skip it if you are into natural history!

A must visit for any paleontology enthusiast. Do watch the short informative presentation (English subtitles available) which are played multiple times an hour, you can also ask for a information brochure (also available in English) at the reception desk.
The ground floor displays all the prehistoric fossils and related objects. The first floor has a mix of prehistoric fossils and modern animals mounted in life-like poses.
Highly recommend this place for families with kids, it has various interactive tools and displays which I'm sure the kids would love.
Do not forget to get yourself an ammonite fossil at the reception desk / souvenir shop for a reasonable price.
The place is accessible for people with special needs too. There are lockers in the basement rooms just Infront of the toilets to stow away your belongings which you might not necessarily want to carry around.
I short 10/10 would visit once again.

I was in Leiden museum for their dinosaurs but this museum has more than historical views in Limburg area. Unfortunately, all the information written in Dutch only (I hope they will improve).

Approaching from the east, you follow the signs to the main entrance of the museum in a small nook between buildings, and think maybe it doesn’t have too much to offer. That’d be a mistake. This museum has a lot on display, with a definite local flavor from native animals and fossils unearthed within just a few miles of the town. Geared toward educating all ages. Only skip it if you’re easily freaked out by large volumes of taxidermy.

Very interesting museum, the staff was very polite and friendly, the rooms were nice and neat, it's quite big and there are so many exhibits to see that we spent at least 2 hours there. A great experience that we'd gladly do again.

Quite a well curated collection of Limburg history. Very informative with very friendly staff. However, there is little English information so non-Dutch speakers may struggle to get by.
