Dorkovo Museum

The Pliocene Museum in the village of Dorkovo is worth a visit, especially if you are with children. We visited in February, working hours are from 10am. until 5 p.m. Tickets for adults cost only BGN 5. The place has a parking lot, free for visitors, and inside you can see an almost 4-meter figure of a mastodon, hear sounds of the beasts that inhabited these lands millions of years ago. You will need about 30 minutes to explore. I recommend!

The place is quite unique one of its kind. You can see the mamout in full size. There's a parking lot available to be used.
One thing for improvement is the exhibit variety. This can be enhanced.

This is basically a small exhibition with the centrepiece being a life size model of a Mastodon bull. There are also a few prehistoric elephant tusks on display, a few posters explaining the history of the digging site and the local pleistocene fauna.
If that is what you are in to - then this is your place. I estimate max viewing time of not more than 30 min. Adult ticket is 5lv.

Small but pretty interesting, especially for children. Not much to see there, but a nice trigger for reading more about the ancient world and its habitants. Entrance is 5 lv. for adults.

Great little museum, the whole visit will take you 15-20 min. but it is interesting and visually pleasing experience. Every Thursday it is free entrance.

A small, but very nice museum. You can see and "hear" how it was and how it sounds 3,5 million years ago. Our 6 year-old son was very excited.

Plenty of information both in Bulgarian and in English, definitely worth a quick detour especially on Thursdays when it's free

Small but interesting place.

The road to there from Google maps was misleading, basically there is a road but google is not aware of it. The building is seen from distance and can be used for orientation in order to find the right way to it.

It's a good place for the kids to see a Mastodont. It is educational and interesting.
Plus the statue in real life size gives a great idea how gigantic that creature was.

The exhibition is interesting to see. The only thing I have in regard is that it lacks quantity - it can take you an hour at most to go through the whole with the reading material.

The place where was found very very old fossils from mastodont, monkeys and many other anymals from pliocenic period. You can hear the skreams of the anymals inside the museum.
