The climb to the peak took 5 hours but it was well worth the effort.

The most beautiful views of Central Balkan! We started our journey from Pleven hut. After taking the first steep uphill and 20-30 minutes of walking through broadleaf deciduous forest you pass the tree line and the route starts to become less steep but more rocky. The path is often wet due to the water sources from the melting snow. In the summer there are many cows at the meadows. It took us about 3 and a half hours to reach the summit. The weather at Botev peak is very changeable and almost always windy. Temperatures above 15°C here are rare.

Beauy, beauty, beauty all over there. We start climbing from the parking lot to Apriltsi. This is the shortest but the steepest and most difficult path to the peak. Most of the time, we were walking through the forrest, breathing fresh air, enjoing the shade of the trees. When the forest finally ends, the slope of the path slightly decreases. If you go there in July or August, you will find many blueberries and spend a lot of time eating them 😋. There are wanderfull views arrond the path. It's windy almost all time in Botev peak. I highly recommend going there.

I climbed Botev Peak on 14.09.2021 with a friend, it took us about 6 hours from the parking in Vidima through the Pleven mountain cabin and to the peak the view from the top is absolutely magnificent and the scenery which you will see on your way to the top is also very beautiful. But it September everything has gone dry so you should carry enough water, I recommend 5-6 litres. We stayed a couple of hours at the peak to enjoy the view so we slept at the Botev mountain cabin which costs 20lv, the host is very friendly and welcoming. It was a great trip and I recommend to everyone who is into hiking to climb Botev peak, you won't regret it, if you are prepared.

One of my favorite hikes in Bulgaria! From the parking to the first hut is about three hours and another three hours to reach Botev Peak. The weather can get cold even in the summer so you’ll want to bring a warm jacket and long pants to be safe. Also be prepared for potential fog and clouds which can make finding your way very difficult. But the trail and views are absolutely worth it. You see cattle, horses, goats, and sheep grazing in the fields and mountain tops all along the way. You can take a side trail to visit one of the largest waterfalls in Bulgaria, and have the option of staying at a couple different rustic huts with food and drink. There are water springs along the way and the trails are well marked.

Amazing place, great view, great expirience. Just one advise, don't stay at Pleven lodge, or if you are planing to go there, try to call them by phone. If you are lucky, they will answer. Read my review about that place, it's everything else but not a lodge. More like a hotel, you won't be accepted if you don't have a booking. By the law in Bulgaria, all lodges are not supoused to have a booking policy, anyway good luck friends!

We had a nice trip and excellent weather. From hischa Pleven it were about 3,5h and the green marked way was easy to find. Fantastic panorama and beautiful landscape up there. Highly recommended for every hiking fan.

Even for experienced hikers I think this is a challenge. The peak itself is not very special, but the views along the way are magnificent. Watch out when you take the red route, the signs are not always clear and there are some crazy cows.

Botev peak winter time > > marathon races
Not that running for hours on end is an easy task. But few races can compete with the mighty weather conditions at Botev wintertime. ❤ severe winds, milky white fog, deep snow - all worth the hours on the way up. Up and up to the top where you witness few precious minutes of the horizon ablaze with rays of light
Then back to normal life •

Amazing place. Have to visit. Pretty challenging 26 km of road takes you to the very top. Astonishing views. Horses wandering around in the night and thousands of lights from down can be seen.

Went through the 5 stages of grief hiking up to Botev peak. Luckily the bean soup and Cows made it more bearable. The view was amazing. Will never do again but would recommend to everyone else

This hike is amazing and offers incredible panoramic views. We accessed it from the Aprilitsi side. From reading reviews I was unsure of where to start so I will write it here for others: You drive through Vidima and can continue driving up the mountain all the way to a parking lot at an old chair lift. From here it is an hour hike to Pleven hut. Walk to the other side of the hut and continue up the mountain (there will be signage). From here it took us 2.5 hours to peak. The whole roundtrip was 6 hours of hiking and was done as a day trip. The trail is almost all straight uphill so it is difficult but definately worth it.

Be careful with the weather conditions! The weather changes too fast and could become dangerous pretty easily!

There are various buildings on the summit. There is a huge radio and TV antenna, a big meteorological station, a shelter for the tourists, etc. There are always people that work and support all the machinery.

Enjoy the great views to North and South Bulgaria!

It's ironic that when you have climbed 1500 meters for 2 days from the north side and you reach the peak you discover that you can get there with a car from the south side. In all seriousness, the hike is totally worth it as the north side is much more beautiful than the south.

One of the most difficult trail in my experience. That was because we didn't take enough water with us and we had three young children in the group at the age of ten. Good that we were welcomed with tea at the peak. That said the views on the pathway from Praskaloto are spectacular!

Peak Hristo Botev is the highest in Balkan Mountain. We have a hiking trip starting from Panitsite - Rai Lodge - Botev Peak. The path was absolutely spectacular with lot of rocks and chains and climping. You can find a mountain shelter where you can buy some food and drinks. And also you can sleep there.
