Emona is no ordinary village. It bears the name of the Balkan Mountains since the time of the Thracians. During these ages the whole mountain was called Æmon. Then, by sea, came the Greek settlers and founded their polis – Heraclea. So when you go to the beach of Irakli, remember this story. Emona had a big port, trade was booming. There were eight monasteries, their walls are still visible near to Cape Emine. An old Greek church still celebrates St. Nicholas. It is hard to describe something that is better to be seen , so give it a try and visit us.
