Our experience at Forfar was nothing short of enchanting! From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the picturesque setting that greeted us – with Jackie's charming garden, spotless outhouses, and a truly stunning lake. The friendly atmosphere matched perfectly with the inviting beach and crystal-clear waters. It's an ideal spot for SUP, picnics, and swimming.

We can't express how grateful we are to have stumbled upon this hidden gem near the city. It not only met but exceeded our expectations, boasting a sandy beach and pristine water that's simply awe-inspiring. If you're on the hunt for peace and tranquility, this is the ultimate destination.

For us, Forfar has become a beloved family favorite. The spacious sites, impeccable facilities, and the warm management team make it stand out. The grounds and beaches are beautifully maintained, creating an oasis of serenity. Kudos to the hosts – Jackie and Ron – who truly enhance the magic of this place. (Although Jackie playfully credits the mystifying loons for the enchantment!)

This year marked our second seasonal camping adventure at Forfar, and we're already counting down to the next. Of course, our return hinges on the presence of Jackie and Ron, as we can't fathom experiencing this haven without their care. Their unmatched kindness, meticulous attention to detail, and dedication to ensuring a delightful camping experience for all is unparalleled in our camping journey across Alberta.

Jackie and Ron have set the gold standard for expectations. Their genuine warmth and hospitality have left an indelible mark on us. We can't sing their praises enough – they're simply the best! We've found our camping paradise, and it's all thanks to their exceptional management.

Beautiful hidden gem! The lake is the best I have been to since moving here from Ontario!! I grew up in Muskoka, Ontario so I grew up spoiled with beautiful lakes and beaches. This is the first one I’ve been to relatively close to the city that did not disappoint me. It exceeded all my expectations! Beautiful sand and clean water! Nice forested area for cover while camping! I regret not getting a pic of the sandy beach and I can’t post videos here, but it’s beautiful!

Nice little campsite! More for RVs than tenting, but either way! It's awesome how quite it is here, no hum of the highway, just nice and quite! Pretty nice lake as well, and the staff here were awesome! And yes you still get one or two bars of service on a cell phone here. Which is pretty nice. Over all I really enjoyed my stay here!

Clean camp sites, if you are bringing a trailer pack good blocking as the sites are not perfectly flat they roll like the land they are on, flat enough but not manicured. Very large long sites are available. The fire wood available to purchase on site is good value for money but not perfectly dry, it's good enough. The out houses are stellar, as clean as an out house can be. My family and I will return thanks to the management. 2 thumbs up!

Adore this campground! Beauty abound and stunning views. The grounds are located right on Long Lake, which is a clean, swimmable/fishable lake. The trees are large and provide adequate privacy. Management is so kind and friendly. Cleanest outhouses I have ever seen. Everything is 10/10 and I will be back every year when I get the chance.

Very nice/clean beach. Water was nice. Very busy, had to park outside the gates. Next time we will bring the dogs, as we found out dogs are allowed in the water, just not in the beach area. Great place to enjoy scuba diving, have a picnic, or go for a swim! Never seen the camping stalls, but I'm sure they are above average aswell.

Nice campground. Paved except last few km in but good gravol road. Beach is nice, water great for swimming, fishing, floating. The outhouses were clean, cleanest ive ever seen. Cute little store at the office. Kids especially liked to swim to the floating dock & play at the park. Was our first trip there, definitely would go back.

We had a magic day kayaking on Forfar. The lady who man’s it in summer, plants the most beautiful flowers all around the front shop. It is a clean lake and very popular in this area. You need to book well in advance for a a campsite. Nice camping spot and well treed.

Lovely, well maintained private campground with a day use beach access. Costs $5 per vehicle. Friendly staff. Beach part has sandy bottom and water was clean.

Such a great place to camp! It’s so peaceful, and the lake is beautiful and perfect to swim in. The lake is crystal clear and has nice soft sand, along with a nice sandy beach. The trails are so full of beautiful lush trees and plants and it feels just like an adventure in your own little world. But most of all, the service is amazing. Our interactions with the lovely lady at registration cabin went so easily and she is such a nice and bubbly lady. I highly recommend camping here!

We have been camping here for a few summers now and we always have a great experience. The lake is beautiful and the campsites are spacious. The group site here is the best I have ever seen!

I also can’t say enough nice things about the people who run this campground! Last summer the check in area seemed to have a nice remodel done and everyone was so friendly. Then just this morning I had to make some changes to my reservation and they were so accommodating and friendly. Looking forward to another great summer of camping here!

Fabulous lake, wonderful sandy beach with ample room for family games. It is a little sludgy ( sandy) for the first few feet when entering the water, plus a little rocky, otherwise, it is great for swimming and jumping off of the pier.
I was only at the day portion of the camp site, which cost $5 for the day, but there were plenty of areas for having a BBQ, plus, they have good toilets.
The one area that could be improved is the ramp to the boat launch.

We have camped last year and we just returned last week. This has become our favorite playground in Alberta's boreal regions. This campground is very pretty and perfect for family with kids. It is public but you've got that private feeling. Very nice beach. Rich evergreen vegetation that makes you feel you are somewhere far but only about 1 hr 40 minutes north of the city. The light of the sunset illuminates the campground that makes the whole area very scenic in the early evening. We'll keep going there again and again.

Recently stayed the weekend in August and it was great! Our spot was a short walk to the cool, clean lake, as well as the bathrooms, which were very clean and well maintained. Firewood was a steal at $8 for a large sac. They also had ice, which I did not expect them to have. Respectful campground, not a peep after 10-11pm. The only real concern were the hornets, which is out of anyone’s control. Just bring some traps and it’s all good! Will be back yearly:):)
