Green Sanctuary Hotel

I've stayed with host Fernando at Green Sanctuary numerous times and he's become like family. His place is beautiful. The pool is sublime. I've teased him that he shouldn't include free breakfast with his super reasonable prices, but he does. For someone who wants an instant community of like minded travelers and a peaceful, unique place to stay, this is it.

This is a beautiful spot away from crowded down town Nosara.
Receptionist/manager Pamilla welcomed us in and helped us with ordering food, scrumptious Italian spaghetti and pizza.
Pool is excellent temperature to cool off and relax in the tranquil surroundings. There was some local construction nearby but they stopped around supper time.

Breakfast included includes, papaya smoothie, fresh fruit (bananas, watermelon, papaya) and choice of breakfast (eggs, pancakes, toast, rice/beans). A full breakfast and coffee.

The Green Sanctuary is close to downtown without the hype, and close to the beaches.

This is my favourite place to stay in Nosara. Nestled in the jungle, with a yoga deck and pool, they serve the best breakfast in town. Thanks for having us to stay in your beautiful hotel 🙏🏻

We LOVED staying at the Green Sanctuary and Pamela is the absolute BEST and will take great care of everything!! Our backpack was stolen on the beach and she jumped into action and called the police for us, acted as translator, let us use her phone to make calls, made us food, was so sweet and treated us like family. I would recommend the Green Sanctuary to anyone visiting Nosara looking for a cool surf hotel to stay at. The rooms are clean, the hotel is close to town and Playa Guiones is only a 5 minute walk away. Also, the breakfast is incredible!

We spent 4 nights here in late June 2023.

The hotel is nice. The rooms are made up of old shipping containers. We had 2 beds and a bathroom. A ceiling fan and a mini split AC provided cooling. We ran the fan during the day and the AC some at night. The room (3) was quiet and comfortable. The beds comfy, the shower had nice warm water. The fridge came in pretty handy.

The breakfast was really good. You get juice, a fruit plate, and coffee. Then you get to pick from the menu. I always ordered the tico (toast, an egg, gallo pinto, cheese, salsa, butter).

The pool is a nice addition. I was able to take a dip after my morning surf sessions. The water is cool but felt really good.

The road up is a bit bumpy but that's Nosara for you. We had a small SUV that did just fine.

The beach (baker) is ~900m away or so. I walked it a few times, drove it the rest. OK parking there, just don't keep valuables out in plain view.

The staff were really nice and friendly.

I'll def stay here again.

We stayed at Hotel Green Sanctuary in November of 2022 for one week and it was my second time in Nosara during November. Carlos and Fernando were super nice, helpful and so was the rest of the staff. As others have said, the breakfast was always perfect with a bunch of options to choose from. Some days we didn't have time to eat a sit down breakfast, but they always had really delicious fresh juices each morning.

The beach was close enough that every day we walked down to the beach and often multiple times a day. We felt very safe in the area around the hotel and we often walked at night into town for dinner, usually along the beach. We also went to many yoga classes at the Bodhi Tree Resort nearby and really appreciated that Hotel Green Sanctuary was only a short walk away.

The rooms were simple, clean and perfect for what we were looking for. Hot showers, air conditioning when we needed it, a small mini fridge, and enough electrical outlets to charge our electronics. It was always quiet at night (i.e. no loud parties) with just the sounds of the jungle to fall asleep to.

I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again and would easily recommend it to anyone looking for a clean and beautiful place that's close enough to the beach and town, but quiet enough to have some peace when you want it. Compared to the offerings all around Nosara, it is a very fairly priced option.

We’ve stayed hear twice in the last two months and love it! The Green Sanctuary suits us perfectly. It’s very functional, has a cool style and layout, good food, comfortable, and fun!

They’ve done a great job with the layout of the container bungalows and landscaping of the property. It feels like, and you are, in nature. There were a family of monkeys hanging out in the trees near the entrance.

We find the yoga deck and pool perfect for our needs. It’s great to have these available and we used them every day!

The common area near the pool, where breakfast is served is charming and is a great place for conversation with other guests. We’ve met several wonderful people while staying here!

They serve breakfast, which is included, every day and the food was great! Smoothies, coffee, fresh fruit, and some nice choices for your main dish as well!

The staff is friendly, fun, and attentive.

The rooms are modern, clean, and comfortable.

And the price is right!

We will definitely be staying here again when we go back to Nosara!

A wonderful experience! We just got married and we wanted a remote place to rediscover ourselves in a different way. We received the finest attention from all hotel personnel, including Fernando its owner, all of them are kind and friendly, and they were always in great disposition to go the extra mile to help us with everything we required. The beach is very close to the hotel, also the trail roads. All recommendations to enjoy Nosara were very appropriate. Breakfast at the hotel was great. We watched a huge iguana, monkeys, squirrels, and lots of birds. We will definitely come back to the Green Sanctuary Hotel when we visit Nosara in a near future!

Such a lovely place! Excellent atmosphere - quiet, and calm - in the jungle but close to the beach! Very clean, incredible staff (friendly, welcoming and kind) - I highly recommend Green Sanctuary! Great breakfast, pool and yoga area!

What an incredible place. This is a small boutique hotel that is built from shipping containers. The rooms are very interesting. I've never stayed in one like it before. I had a great visit. The beds are very comfortable. Air-conditioning works wonderful. The staff is super friendly! This comes with a free breakfast which is delicious. Has a very refreshing pool. It's about a 10 minute walk to the ocean which is some of the most beautiful ocean views I've ever seen. You must come visit!

I loved green sanctuary so much that I’m going back to stay another night before I leave. I needed a place to stay for a couple of nights before I attended a week long retreat at blue spirit. The breakfast is PHENOMENAL! I miss it already! The rooms and all common areas are VERY CLEAN! Staff and owner are friendly and helpful. I speak very little Spanish and they would even call and arrange for my lunch or dinner deliveries. Maroo (not sure of spelling) the lady that cooks breakfast, was the biggest sweetheart! And the other guests were friendly as well.

What a magical place! The owners and the staff were absolutely lovely. It's hidden in the middle of the forest, with lots of birds to keep you company. The cabins are clean and spacious, with lots of nice little touches. The pool overlooks the forest, and there's a platform in the woods where you can practice yoga. Highly recommend taking one of their classes. We were complete beginners and our instructor was the best. Breakfast is included and has lots of healthy options. This was our favourite place during our whole trip in Costa Rica. Thank you Fernando and Glory!

Love this place!! Great location, in the middle of the jungle, surrounded by trees, close enough to the beach. The room was clean, cozy and the size good for 2 or 3. They have a nice pool and good breakfast and the attention was awesome, Fernando is a great host, I definitely will stay here again.

Super cute. I just arrived a short while ago. The staff is friendly. The place is very clean. The pool looks great. Breakfast is included. Nice little place away from the crowds and a bit in the jungle and yet close to the beach!

Hate to say it because I don’t want anyone to know about his place but I love this place! Fernando is a great host. Pool is a nice treat at end of day and the yoga platform is amazing in the morning with all the Costa Rican sounds. Nice small hotel so even when it is fully booked you feel like you have the place to yourself.

The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The room remained very cool even though I never once used the air. The hotel’s setting is in the middle of the jungle in a very quiet corner of Section K, only steps away from Bodhi Tree and the beach. The owner and his son are the perfect hosts, the staff is kind and friendly and breakfast included it’s simply Icing on the cake. This little jewel in Thelma beautiful neighborhood in Playa Guiones has no rival and no competition. Thank you for a great stay

What a beautiful stay! Surrounded by flora and fauna up in the trees but only a few minutes walk to the beach. Glory and Fernando were incredibly helpful, answering all our questions and providing recommendations. Complimentary breakfast was lovely and we ordered delicious smoothies. We would recommend to any traveler!

Cosy Hotel made out of shipping containers in the middle of the jungle with monkeys in the backyard. We enjoyed our stay a lot - a calm place with Playa Guiones in walking distance a bit away from the center of the town. Not too forget the delicious breakfast which we had every morning next to the pool 🙂 we definitely can recommend this place.

Tucked away in a quiet jungle setting with a welcoming decor. The creative lodging is well appointed with private entrances and large sliding doors looking to the surrounding scenery. Breakfast is delicious, served with fruit and fresh juice while you listen to wildlife around you (howler monkeys and birds). The walk to the beach is simple, about 10-15 minutes, and you can also walk to nearby restaurants. The hosts and staff are very friendly and helpful with suggestions about local events and entertainment. On top of that you can use the yoga space with provided mats or request a private class for you or a small group at an affordable price. A great option! Affordable, good location, pretty and welcoming hosts!

Spent 1 full month at Green Sanctuary and had an awesome time. Fernando the owner is super friendly and cool. Very peaceful location in the middle of the Woods but in walking distance to the beach. Great tipico breakfast. Relaxing little pool and yoga platform. Will definitely come back.
