I completed a Reiki Master Retreat here at Pura Veda. From the moment that I arrived at the property, I could feel the love, gratitude and welcoming energy emanating from Freddy, Sonia, their children and the land.

We were blessed to have Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner provided to us. The food was pure love and nourishment. With every bite you can taste the intention, love, joy and consideration that went into each meal. Furthermore, from the way that they eating space is set up, you can witness the care and respect for the land that is present at Pura Veda. Everything comes from the land and returns to the land with respect and honor. This was also just one of the divine loving takeaways that I had here at Pura veda.

We also got to experience morning yoga sessions with Sonia. I love how gentle but powerful the yoga sessions were. Each pose opened my soul and body up to more Chi, light and self acceptance. The classes always flowed smoothly and Sonia's love, respect and knowledge for yoga was evident.

We also got to take an Archery class. Freddy's style of Archery was nothing short of a divine teaching. From this class, I got a taste of archery as a way of life. Freddy related archery to yoga, zen practices, self awareness and personal development. I developed a new found respect for archery as a way of peace, awareness and as a spiritual path.

I enjoyed and loved every second of my time here at Pura Veda. Because of the architecture, I was able to connect deeply with the land. I felt safe, held, nourished and right at home. From being at Pura Veda, I learned to cherish life as the gift that it is. I learned peace, compassion and self awareness as a way of life. I learned to honor and respect the land. And to know the value of community.

Thank you Sonia and Freddy!

The atmosphere at Pura Veda was a testament to their dedication to mindful living. The Ayurveda meals, curated with intention, love, and nourishing ingredients, provided a foundation for well-being. Each bite became a conscious celebration, fueling not just the body but also the soul.

The intentional chakra yoga sessions in the midst of the jungle's beauty were guided by an energy of tranquility that Sonya effortlessly embodied. Their commitment to creating a space for self-discovery was evident, making each session a harmonious blend of mindfulness and movement.

Mindful archery, a unique offering at Pura Veda, became a metaphor for focused intention and alignment under Freddy's teachings. The ancient practice, when embraced in their nurturing environment, enhanced the overall transformative atmosphere of the retreat.

Beyond the activities, the warmth of Sonya and Freddy's family added a unique charm to Pura Veda. Their embodiment of living life in peace and love was inspiring, creating a familial atmosphere that enriched the entire experience.

In essence, Pura Veda was more than a space; it was a sanctuary for transformation. Their commitment to creating an environment conducive to growth and healing made my journey not only educational but profoundly life-changing. The impact of their loving family will forever hold a special place in my heart.

What a beautiful gem! Looking for cheaper options outside of Nosara, I stumbled upon Pura Veda and I’m overjoyed to have experienced it’s magic. Sonia and her family have kept this land really pure and they provide a down the earth authentic vibe that can be hard to find in the area. The surrounding land is full of wildlife and wonder! One of the best things about this place is the absolutely sacred pathway that leads from their place to the beach. Off the beaten path but very safe, this path takes about 45 minutes and will provide lots of beautiful animal connections and nature moments. It’s one of my favorite experiences I’ve had in Costa Rica! The beach where the path leads is pretty much a private beach with the most beautiful seashells I’ve ever seen. It’s a 5 min walk to San Juanillo from there where you can get great food and necessities. The humble abode is a wonderful space and very comfortable while the amenities (including a great archery range/ yoga platform!) are great for the price. Sonia offers breakfast for a reasonable cost and offered to work out rides for me as well. I’d love to come back for one of her retreats on Ayurveda or yoga! Also, this is a great spot for anyone who is planning a retreat as there are flexible options for facilitators.

I brought my mom and brother to stay here for a couple of days and we all loved it! Freddy and Sonia were incredibly hospitable, welcoming, and helpful hosts. Sonia was happy to lead several yoga classes for us and even worked with our schedules. They have a variety of medicinal plants on the property and are able to provide Ayurvedic meals on request. I'd love to go back some day.

Pure Veda is an amazing Garden of Eden zen setting that totally transports you. I stayed in the glamping treehouse type accommodation and relished in the sounds of the birds and other wildlife. It is a great place for meditation, reflection and introspection. It is just about one mile from one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever visited. It is not yet a super touristy area, so it is like having your own private beach. The couple, Sonia and Freddie, who run Pura Veda are very accommodating. Sonia made the most amazing food with the highest quality organic ingredients. She is also a yoga teacher and is tuned into the more subtle aspects of yoga that often get overlooked by western teachers. I highly recommend a stay here!

Pura Veda is in a perfect location-tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Nosara yet super close to a beach that is so beautiful that it’ll take your breath away. Sonia and her family welcomed me onto their property with open hearts and kind spirits. They answered any and all questions that I had and eased my “solo travel” jitters. Sonia cooks absolutely amazing food hosts soul-fulfilling Yoga classes that I definitely recommend you check out during your stay. This is the place to stay if you’re visiting Costa Rica!

I completed the 21 day 200 hr teacher training at Pura Veda. I chose this program after looking at the curriculum and feeling confident in the content beyond just asanas. The added benefit of learning about Ayurveda made me commit on the spot! The property is gorgeous and the lil beach village is nice and quiet/safe. The setting was absolutely gorgeous, the food was amazing, and I learned so much in just 3 weeks. Highly recommend. We even got to hit some mindful archery 🏹

Additionally, Sonia/Freddy/the boys are such wonderful people. Not only a beautiful family themselves but they also created a perfect container for the group to become our own family as well.

I just completed the 3 week 200 hour yoga teacher training course at Pura Veda. Wow, what a beautiful, life changing experience! The teachers, Sonia, Freddy, and Ciro did an excellent job creating space for nuanced ideas and opinions, guiding non-judgmental discussions while leaving room for new ideas to form in the minds and hearts of both teachers and students. There was a lot of information offered during the training, but it never felt overwhelming and was delivered in both hands on and lecture formats, intertwined with beautiful stories, as well as reading supplements as needed, aiding all types of learners in acquiring and retaining the information. The natural environment of the yoga shala created a peaceful and grounding location for learning, and the snack breaks in between classes were great opportunities to move, stretch, rest, or ask more questions. The teachers were always available to discuss educational topics as well as life lessons coming out of these educational discussions - anything on our hearts and minds was welcome to be shared and was held with care and attention.

I stayed in the glamping tent platform, the Western Air Temple. There were a couple scary looking bugs in the tent at times, but I never felt in danger, and Sonia and Freddy always made me feel comfortable reaching out to them for help removing them if needed. The view of the sunrise every morning from my bed was incredible, and the sounds of the birds, insects, and howler monkeys always brought much joy in the mornings! For those who have never camped before or who are uncomfortable with bugs and other critters, I would recommend choosing one of the other awesome housing options during your stay.

The 3 ayurvedic meals a day were AMAZING!! I always felt full and nourished, and it was amazing to see the subtle changes in my body and mind with the foods offered. My mind felt clearer than ever before. The fruit options for snack in between meals helped tide me over and I was never overly hungry during the training- even with all of the physical activity.

The staff were very kind and I was very appreciative of the love and care put into keeping the space clean and beautiful!

Sonia and her family are some of the kindest, gentlest souls I have ever met. Everything they do is done from a place of love and intention. The land is a spiritual bubble of beauty and light. San Juanillo is a quiet little town close to the beach, with a couple delicious food options only a walk away from Pura Veda. If you're looking for a down-to-earth, connected, uplifting, and lifechanging YTT experience - go to Pura Veda!! <3

A truly great place to stay. Freddy and Sonia were the best hosts and offered so much. We took an archery class, a yoga class, eat an authentic Indian food dinner, and rented bikes all right on site. Such a beautiful natural setting. Loved everything about this place!!!

The staff was amazing down to each and every person. No matter what jobs they performed they were so kind and helpful. But the shining star was Diego. He makes the whole place. So very attentive and kind to every single guest. Absolutely love him!! Thank you all for such a lovely vacation🥰

One of the most beautiful experiences to be had. A hidden gem surrounded by jungle and ocean sounds. Authentically built, open-air, self sustainable grounds, symbiotic with and respectful to nature. Hosted by the most wonderful people who provide a wealth of knowledge and inspiring opportunities on site, including: archery, yoga and Ayurvedic practices and cooking. Very accessible yet secluded for a unique, peaceful, and inspiring stay.
