The Amazing Treehouse and Nature Observatorio in Manzanillo, Limon, Costa Rica

Our stay in the tree house was amazing, charming and unforgettable. Our guide Tereza was exceptional - she guided us through the jungle and shared lots of fascinating details. It was one of the most beautiful experiences of our vacation in Costa Rica. Listening to the jungle with an ocean view. Unique accommodation combined with Tereza services, great dinners, breakfast and freshly picked cocoa. We highly recommend it to anyone who wants to immerse themselves in nature and discover the wonders of Costa Rica in a truly magical setting.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our peaceful hike to the tree house. Peter (our guide) has such a trained eye and incredible knowledge about the creatures of the jungle.

We had fun hauling ourselves up the ropes to the tree house (with Felix’s help). It certainly is worth the effort, as the vistas are amazing.

Peter has built such an incredible structure. We love how tree-friendly it was too and his complete respect/regard for nature.

We would highly recommend this experience to those that have at least an average level of fitness.

It was the most unique experience of our lives! Hearing the monkeys and birds and who knows what else while we were suspended 25m in the air was amazing. The flew by watching the trees around, looking for birds, and just taking everything in.
The breakfast and dinner was delicious and our guide tour was brilliant!

We were in Costa Rica for 3 weeks. It is a really beautiful landscape full of greenery, jungle, diverse animals, but a night spent in a treehouse was the highlight of the whole holiday for us. A night in the treehouse should be tried out by everyone who visits Costa Rica, it is a really crazy experience. In addition to a night in the jungle, a bonus is to meet a great man like Peter. He told us about his lifelong experiences, incredible/ amazing stories and inspiring thoughts that it just swept us off our feet : D We highly recommend a night at the treehouse.

What an awesome and unique experience! I was so impressed by Peter's knowledge about the jungle and how good he was at finding amazing little critters for me to photograph! I had an amazing time exploring the jungle and learning about this incredible structure that he designed and built. Spending a night up in the canopy was incredible!

The hike up was magical and I had a wonderful time.
The climbing up was a unique experience, it was scary at the top but was fine when I got in the treehouse. I saw all types of creatures like frog’s , stingless bees, bullet ants and a ocelot footprint! -Naia - 9 yrs old

The nature observatory is an incredible, unique and authentic experience to see the gorgeous jungle. The treehouse has a spectacular view where we spotted wildlife and enjoyed the peacefulness of the treetops. Rich and Peter made our experience feel special and just the right mix of adventure and relaxation! I would recommend this tour to anyone looking to truly know the beauty of Costa Rica

This treehouse is certainly a gem and was one of our highlights in our costa rica journey.

The owner Peter did pick us up on time at the meeting spot and led us to the treehouse. Already on the way he showed us a lot of animals and told us about the project. Once we arrived at the treehouse we climbed up. Videos of the process are available on the homepage. We definitly recommend staying there one night and picking the vip package with dinner and breakfast.
In the evening we were able to see a lot of birds and enjoy the sounds of the jungle.

Peter knows incredibly much about the jungle and is such a nice person. We enjoyed our stay and recommend everyone, who is interested in an adventurous experience, to go there

Absolutely incredible experience of the Costa Rican jungle, starting with a guided hike and countless animal sightings, then climbing like an arborist into a canopy treehouse to spend the evening with a symphony of birds and monkeys. Excellent meals, knowledgeable guides, all-around an unforgettable experience.

Highly Recommended! Everything starts with a nice jungle tour with a very good guide due to his knowledge and his experience. A funny tree-climbing with the ropes. Unforgettable moments, especially in the night. Tree home is better than any 5-star hotel. The combination of the beautiful accommodation and the guide like Peter, made Nature Observatorio our highlight of Costa Rica.

An amazing experience in the Costa Rican rainforest. We spent one night in the treehouse and this is an opportunity unlike any other. The hike in was amazing, the treehouse was fantastic and the views incredible. Peter was an awesome host! We did the 'VIP' experience and enjoyed dinner and breakfast in the treehouse as well.

Amazing experience, totally worth the money. Peter is an inspirational person, so knowledgeable and caring for the environment. By spending a night on the treehouse (or taking a half-day tour) you also contribute to preservation of the primary forest here in Costa Rica.

The best guided tour in Costa Rica! I traveled to Costa Rica with two boys and their biggest experience was TreeHouse. Lots of animals, like frogs, lizards, butterflies and birds ... and at the end of the tour we saw the toucan! Climbing the tree was also a great experience for me. It was not easy, but children (9, 11) had no problem climbing up or down.

Awesome tour! We went with kids and all had an amazing time. The guide loves the rain forest and his enthusiasm shines through in the tour. The tree house that he has put together is about as unique of a place as you can imagine, it’s surprising this isn’t on several of those ‘most amazing places in the world’ lists all over the internet.

This was the highlight of our 3 week CR trip - everything all the other reviews have said! Thank you Peter and his team (+ Richard via email support) for your hard work, passion and commitment to maintaining the wonderful Manzanillo national park, the wildlife and rain forest.

Our kids age 9 and 12 were enraptured - a truly memorable experience - being so close and alone overnight in a tree house with toucans, howler monkeys and other amazing wildlife.
The tree climbing was a fun challenge for all of us and we had such kind and encouraging support from Misael and Peter (and another chap too), inc sending our beer and dinner up the rope later in the evening.

Unique and awesome experience 25m in the canopy of a primary rainforest. Includes guided hikes in and out where we saw numerous poison dart drogs. Highly recommended for an amazing experience you cant get anywhere else. Peter is an awesome host and very passionate about saving the forest.

What an experience! Peter, the owner/guide was great. Be prepared for a 45-60 minute hike in (not hard, but some slippery and steep sections). Then the climb up an 80ft rope to the treehouse (you use a ratchet/rope/belay setup that makes it the equivalent of doing 30-40 squats). The treehouse is spacious and airy, with 360° views, hammocks and beanbags, a rainwater-fed shower, and comfortable mattresses with excellent mosquito nets. Our neighbour for the night was a sloth in the next tree over.

One year ago at the Colorado Environmental Film Festival in Golden we were captivated by a wonderful film called Canopy, which revealed the creation of Peter’s Tree House in the Caribbean costal Costa Rican rain forest. We decided to see if we could visit there and perhaps even stay in the tree house. In April 2019 our dream came true. What a grand adventure!

This tree house is suspended 8 stories up on a 350 year old tree in the canopy of an unfortunately vanishing virgin rain forest. This tree house is the only one of it’s kind.
The design and building of the structure, which began with Peter’s dream 20 years ago, is revolutionary in itself. Other “tree houses” are anchored to the trees and built from the bottom up. This one is suspended in a way that does no harm to the tree.

Getting to the tree house is an adventure in itself. The trail up is somewhat strenuous-wading in shallow rocky streams and climbing steep muddy paths. However, Peter stops often providing naturalist descriptions of forest creatures along the way.

Once happily at the top of the trail and at the base of the tree we looked up in wide-eyed trepidation at the rope climb ahead of us. However, this also was made quite manageable by Peter’s special tree climbing harness and patient guidance with the necessary technique. The next thing we knew we were quite safely 8 stories up in the Canopy!

What a view and intimate nature experience. We saw white faced monkeys jumping through the trees, a cacophony of howler monkeys in the distance, toucans feeding in the tree next to us, brightly colored poison dart frogs, bats, and that evening a large sloth slowly but so gracefully climbing another nearby tree. Sundown and sunup over the canopy, what a treat.

Peter is a wealth of information about the ecology of this rain forest. He is also patient, enthusiastic, and very attentive. HIs 20 year passion to protect, preserve , and educate is impressive. He makes every effort to provide an adventure that is safe, educational and fun.

Friends have questioned our sanity for going on this trip instead of a nice resort with umbrella drinks. Really—who has memorable stories about umbrella drinks!

Incredible experience to spend a night in the jungle and above the treeline with the view of the ocean. The staff is very friendly and makes sure that the safety always comes first. The walk through the jungle takes 30-45 mins. The treehouse is very clean and safe.

Had a great stay here. Peter was a fantastic host, and gave us 2 great tours to and from the treehouse. Definitely a once in a lifetime experience that we won't forget, and wins the award for the most unusual place I've ever stayed! Highly recommend staying here.
