We stopped here for a late lunch on the recommendation of an earlier tour guide. The food was delicious and because the restaurant is on the second story, you have a fairly good view of the ocean while eating. I had the chicken plate that included Caribbean style rice and beans that's made with coconut milk.

A few notes: Sign on the restaurant says the name is now Mr. Maxie's. They do not accept American Express like most Costa Rican businesses.

Excellent food (some of the best we had in Costa Rica!) although not the best spot if you're in a hurry.
The fish that I had was beautifully cooked and my partners ribs were excellent.

Very chilled place

Food was plentiful, but prices are higher probably due to its location and the tourist. Either way the food was tasty. We ordered typical Caribbean plates with a variety of meats. The rice and beans were fresh and had just the right amount of coconut milk added for flavoring. The whole red snapper was amazing as well was the chorizo and pork ribs.

The waitress was not very attentive but it’s was apparent that she was one of maybe 3-4 working the almost full establishment. I never expect food to arrive as quickly as it does in my country because when I’m out of my country I’m usually on vacation and have plenty of time to wait.

We ate there last night and will be back soon. Both of us had the whole Red Snapper with rice and beans, salad and veggies. Generous portion and really delicious 😋!

Great location close to everything in town. It's right on the beach, and main road. We sat down at the bar, and enjoyed a few Imperials while waiting out the storm and subsequent power outage. We talked to the waitress about where to find local foods and she suggested the Rondon from Maxi's. It was really tasty, and full of flavours we hadn't seen in all of Costa Rica yet.

Excellent food with a great view!!! We went there about six months ago. The service was great and the food was delicious!!! We had lobster. It was outstanding!!! Moderately priced.

Everything was excellent... the staff was amazing an went above and beyond. Treated us like family they havent seen in ages an made sure we were very well taken care of.
The male server was the best I've ever came across everrrrr. He made my entire experience top notch. Can't wait to go back.

Excellent and authentic Costa Rican Caribbean food! The Camarones en salsa caribeña was absolutely delicious and so fresh. They also have surprisingly good vegetarian options, and an amazing coconut flan. This is a classic spot! Locally owned, laid back, nice view of the sea, tasty food, friendly and fast service and reasonable prices. I have no idea what the deal is with some of these other reviewers, but we loved it- and we're from New York.

I loved how many choices we had. And the portion was morethan enough. Staff was friendly and prices were perfect. Highly recommended. A must sample of the carribean taste. 🙏👍😍

Was very delicious, sits close to the beach and has a nice view upstairs. Sometimes tool a while to get the attention for service but was good overall.

Great service. Food was tasty. Great way to enjoy a lunch by the beach. Just remember to return your beer bottle when you finish it.

At Puerto Viejo Club, we recommend Maxis to our guests for the great fruit smoothies, large portions, flavorful dishes and elevated view of the beaches of Manzanilla. The music is always on and it's a great spot for chillin'!
