Soda Jacó Rústico

We went around 6pm with crowds coming and going as service was fast. The food was some of the most memorable in Costa Rica with Gallo Pinto, stewed pork and a hamburger steak kind of dish. Overall $20ish total. It was great!

Great spot for a quick and delicious lunch. Authentic soda (Costa Rican buffet style) meals with lots of options and at a good price. They also have a coffee shop built in with great hot and cold caffeinated beverage options. Order at the counter and pick your spot to sit or order to go. Overall expect to pay about 4500 c or $9 usd for a filling tasty meal. Beans, rice, salad, meat of your choice, plátanos, and a drink. Check it out if you are looking to eat where many local people go. No frills.

Definitely the go to spot for typica comida. Five stars in that regard. Great flavor, great portions, very fairly priced and best of all the local warmth by those working there. Don't skip, it's a must go.

You choose dishes from a buffet, served by waitresses. Take away or eat in. Dishes are delicious and fresh. They also have soft drinks. Excellent prices and vegan options. Ceiling fans and soccer on TV. Ate here twice, both times very satisfied.

Nice soda. Selection is a bit on the smaller side compared to others I've been and others in town. However the food was still really good. Goood gallo pinto and good chicken with tomato sauce and their braised beef brisket in mushroom gravy was really good. We'll braised, sft and tender meat. Good stuff. Wish they had soup on a daily though. Need to come back and ry their beef soup on a Monday

If you enjoy submersing yourself into local culture...You must eat where the locals eat! Cafeteria style ...no menu ...you point and they serve....I ate some foods I did not know what it would taste like until I ate it! A true culinary adventure.

If you're looking for authentic food at the most reasonable price in Jaco, look no further. After paying ridiculous prices all over town I ate here every day for 8 days and loved it every time. If you're looking for quality local affordable dining this is the place.

Loved the food and drinks there. The waitress was very polite and courteous to every customer. Price is very reasonable and they have a plenty of local food options.

Soda Jaco Rustica is the best place in town for Tico food and it is delicious every time. after a few hours on the beach, take a few steps toward to find the little jewel. The food is always fresh, great tasting (more so than many places in Costa Rica) and the price is unbeatable. There are a couple of other places in town I would place in the same category and they all serve a little different take on Tico cuisine. But since Rustica is on the beach, this is where I ate the most.

Really great lunch here! If your looking for local Costa Rican food I would recommend this. Easy to eat gluten free. You pick everything you want on your plate similar to how you would order at a chipotle. Good quality local food / highly recommended.

Eccellente! Authentic home cooked beef stew, chicken, chorizo, rice and beans, yuca and plaintains. Get there early as once they run out of food you'll have to wait for lunch menu which starts at 11am offering fried chicken, red beans, fish, fresh potato and macaroni and spinach/chick pea salads. Seasoned well and prices are cheaper than the main strip in Jaco. $5 to $7USD for a plate. Worth walking off the strip to discover this local eatery and then take a stroll on Jaco beach.

Locals told us about this place. Buffet style, close to the beach and main drag. You will fill your plate for almost nothing. It's delicious and authentic típico Costa Rican food. We were here in August 2021.

Soda Jaco Rústico is an amazing little local spot right in the middle of Jaco. Trust me, skip your hotel breakfast and go here! Perfect spot for lunch, too. Delicious, flavorful, affordable, local food that tastes home-cooked.

A “soda” is a small local restaurant, family-owned, usually open for breakfast and lunch, where historically locals would make food for passing travelers from whatever ingredients they had. In true soda fashion, this place has no menu: you get to pick what you want from the day’s buffet. (If you ever see the slow-stewed beef in salsa — get it!)

We have fully enjoyed lunch or an early dinner here for the last three days. Each day offers slight variations so you never run out of options and I have yet to see a repeat refresco (drink)! Everything always tastes very fresh....highly recommend!

The definition of a soda in Costa Rica. It was very fast and inexpensive and very good. We went for breakfast and dinner and were very satisfied.

We went here twice during our four day stay. The meal is about 3000 colones with a drink (3 sweet juice options). You get to choose from a variety of options for your plate, and you will certainly be full afterward. The food is the local kind, which is nice when compared to the many restaurants tailored to tourists.

In contrast to what another reviewer said, we had great customer service here. The lady behind the counter knew some English, so the ordering process went just fine. They take your plate for you when you are finished. We had a great experience here. Eat where the locals eat!

Very good food for not much money! It all tastes very well and the selection is huge. It is a buffet which you can choose from.
