This fountain has an interesting story that the local tour guide told us. Let's skip to the best part - With 2 rings where one is gold in colour & the other in black. According to the tour guide that many made a mistake because it was supposed to use your left hand instead of the right & to turn clockwise 3 times for a wish. I was there in May, but I didn't realise it. However, in Oct, I (supposed) do the right thing 😆.. so let's wait for my wish to come true 🤞🏻 The intrinsic work of art of this fountain is very outstanding due to its colour & in the morning when the sun shines, it looks majestic.

Ah, the Schöner Brunnen—quite literally, the "Beautiful Fountain"—is a magnificent specimen of craftsmanship that graces Nuremberg's Hauptmarkt. Conceived in the 14th century and later replicated in the early 20th century, this 62-foot high structure is more of a spire than a fountain, embodying the flamboyant Gothic architecture of its time.

To access this sculptural wonder, you can simply take a stroll through the central market square of Nuremberg's Altstadt. It is near-impossible to miss, given its towering presence amidst the bustling market life.

But ah, the myths! Legend has it that turning the golden ring embedded in the intricate iron grille surrounding the fountain will bring good luck. This superstition has transformed the ring into a shiny, almost ethereal object, perpetually polished by the hands of hopeful visitors. Another tale suggests that turning the ring three times grants a wish. While the efficacy of these rituals remains a topic of lively debate, the allure of participating in such a long-standing local tradition is undeniable.

The Schöner Brunnen is not merely a fountain; it's a piece of Nuremberg's soul, a timeless relic that connects generations past, present, and future.

the beautiful fountain is part of Nuremberg's historic mile . Built in 1396, it stands on the edge of the main market next to Nuremberg Town Hall . The Beautiful Fountain is around 19 meters high and has the shape of a pinnacle-decorated Gothic spire. The forty colored figures of the fountain represent the world view of the Holy Roman Empire on four floors . From below these are: Philosophy and the Seven Liberal Arts , the Four Evangelists and the Four Fathers of the Church , the Seven Electors and the Nine Good Heroes , Moses and seven prophets. many legends stand behind this iconic Monument. try to fill the canon to get some water.

This is our third visit to Schoner Brunnen and we love coming here. When we were first here in 2010, we found the fountain a bit disturbing but that was because we didn't understand it. Now we come to Schoner Brunner every time we are in Bavaria and admire the figures and the light hearted messages.

In the center of Nuremberg's beautiful plaza is an incredible shrine. It is absolutely gorgeous to look at. With its golden reliefs and detailed sculpts around it, it is a must see in person.

Probably the most beautiful fountain in Europe. Love how they painted the sculpture. It is beautiful. Smaller than I imagine from the picture. Next to the markets. Cute little place to check out.

An amazing fountain, the Beautiful Fountain is also the tallest fountain in Nuremberg. Quite impressive and also very colourful, comparing it to other fountains like The Fountains of Virtue, for example.

The ‘Schöner Brunnen’ is one of the most beautiful fountains I have ever seen and is placed at the central place of Nuremberg.
A ring embedded in the fence surrounding the fountain is said to bring good luck to those who spin.
Legend has it that if you turn the "golden" ring of a beautiful fountain once, then three wishes will come true, and if you turn it three times, you can expect many children.
According to the plan, the purpose of the fountain was to display the worldview of the statehood of the Holy Roman Empire and the theocentric worldview of the Middle Ages.
Throughout history, the fountain has been restored and rebuilt several times.

The "Beautiful Fountain" in Nuremberg consists of four tiers with 40 colorful figures personifying and representing: science, philosophy, liberal arts, and religion.
Gargoyles in the lower part of the fountain symbolize the seven deadly sins and are also designed to protect the city from dishonesty.
Rotate the rings and make a wish!
