This is the famous castle mentioned in Shakespeare's Hamlet, Kronborg. It's only an hour train ride north from Copenhagen. If you have purchased the Copenhagen city pass, your castle entrance is FREE. The souvenir shop inside the castle has a lot of stuff on Shakespeare.

Come visit just to see the history, the beautiful scenery and ocean view.

If you have the time, the ferry is a short distance from the castle and a 20-minute ride to Sweden. The Swedish people are NICE and friendly!!!!!

Thoughtful, fun cultural spot to visit. Well-curated exhibits, easily navigable areas that respect the architecture while delivering a modern experience of real history. Nearby to a food hall, with two coffee shops. Highly recommend!

This  is a castle and stronghold. It is also famous world over as the setting of Shakespeare's Hamlet. The castle is open to visitors including the royal chambers, the ballroom, the chapel and various other sections. The staff provides a quick introduction after which one is free to explore the castle on their own. There was a lot to learn about the Danish history and specially about Kind Frederick II and his queen who was quite astute with managing the finances after the King. The castle is walking distance away from the Helsingör central station which is also where the ferry from Sweden disembarks. There are washrooms available in the castle premises.

American visiting in January. Perfect experience. No crowds, full access. This is exactly what you want to see for a European castle experience. Sweden visible across the channel.

Gorgeous castle! A must visit in Denmark.

I loved that it's very kid friendly and they organize activities or settings specifically for kids.

One of the most important sights in Denmark that you must not miss. The museum in the castle takes you far back in the Danish history. Just opposite the castle there is a new Library which is also worth visiting. Helsingør itself is also a nice town worth seeing.

Huge beautiful castle with huge gardens, cannal and tunnels. Worth getting here if you are in Denmark and even if you come to Copenhagen. There is also nice view to the see and the Swedish town.

Fun castle to visit. Courtyard has lots of activities, like stilt walking and how medieval workmen used pulley systems to lift stones. Jesters, and Courtisan actors around the castle to provide interactive fun.
Castle rooms interesting with lots of well written information. And encouraged to sit / touch / play act in parts... even a Hamlet set.

It is a scenic castle. It was the location of Shakespeare's play Hamlet and that is why I visited it. The castle and the moat well-maintained. The rooms are huge with minimal furnishings. One place is kept for kids to colour or make things from Lego pieces.

Beautiful castle to visit , landscapes are amazing both around it and inside. Interior of the castle is very well preserved and definitely worth to go with family, friends etc. Highly recommended because of it's history as well, seeing the paintings and rooms in the king's rooms was an amazing experience!!

Really interesting place, only bug bear is the amount of steps you have to climb, not wheel chair friendly.

A really nice place to visit during the Christmas market, a bit crowded but an amazing view from the tower. Recommended to visit with plenty of time to spare.

Kronborg is a castle and stronghold in the town of Helsingor. If you've heard of William Shakespeare's Hamlet, you've probably noticed that the castle portrayed in the play, named Elsinore, is Kronborg. I read that Hamlet was performed in the castle for the first time in 1816, with a cast consisting of soldiers from the castle garrison, with the stage in the telegraph tower. Since then, the play was performed for several times, with performers including Lawrence Olivier, Christopher Plummer, Jude Law. All the castel, including fortifications, chapel, army barracks, is magnificent. Don't miss it when visit Danemark. In the caste's casemates I found the sleeping Holder Danske (Ogier the Dane), who sleeps until he is needed to save is homeland.

Very nice place to visit. We arrived before less than an hour before closing, but it was still worth it just for the view from the tower. I'll definitely come back ❤

Great as a day trip from Copenhagen (which we combined with the Louisiana Museum as well). The castle is great and the short introductory chat you can listen to was really informative and the staff were all lovely. Definitely recommend walking around the town as well.
