Breathtaking. In love with Chimborazo and its magic. Admission is free, but before entering, you need to register with your name and ID number. You can access by car near the first shelter of the mountain. To access the second shelter at 5,000 meters (16,404 ft) and also the Condorcocha lagoon, which is at 5,100 meters (16,732 ft), it is necessary to walk along a slightly steep path. Even though, there are two shelters up there, they are not open and do not have restrooms available, so, I suggest you stop by the bathrooms that are at the entrance before starting to ascend the mountain. Restrooms are clean and the price to use them is twenty-five cents. You can find a cafe at the entrance and people selling some hats for the cold too. I suggest bringing nuts or candy for the effects of high altitude and lots of water as well.

The attention is very good and the entrance is free for local tourists. You need a good physical condition to practice mountaineering but you can also visit it simply to appreciate the majestic Chimborazo up close.

Such a great place. I had the opportunity to ride my bike from the entrance to the first refugee. It's really cold so you might wanna bring some windbreakers and stuff.

Beautiful! Almost guaranteed to see Vicuña. The polyepsis forest was super cool as well.

If coming by bus, you can pay someone at the entrance to take you up to the first refuge for about 15 dollars. I chose to walk and it took me about 2 hours to reach the first refuge. Totally worth the hike as there is nothing like being at the feet of this giant.

Depending on the time of year the weather is nice. Around Early it's not cold at all but there is a lot of snow. Great if you like hiking there are a couple small stores you can take refuge in and eat

Such a beautiful place to visit. You will hike as far up as you can (not past the Laguna unless you have a guide and make sure to take frequent stops) and hopefully see beautiful views. The drive up and back was honestly one of the nicest things I've ever seen. I highly recommend you take the time to go to Riobamba to see this amazing natural wonder.

Highest mountain in ecuador. Great spot to experience how your body behaves at great height as you can go up to 5000m and higher.

Amazing views, but get acclimated to the altitude first before attempting the climb to the second camping site.

This is one of the 'must see' for tourists. Closest point to the sun on earth. Visit the magnificent volcan Chimborazo, beautiful and incredible site. It is very important to remember the mountain is located 20,564 ft above sea level, so you wanna buy some chocolates in the little resaturant located in the first rest house. As a doctor, my recommendations are:
1) be in good health overall for climbing Chimborazo
2) If you suffer from any heart or respiratory disease it is better to not climb to the peak.
3) Walk slowly (very)
4) Bring CASH as Credit Cards are NOT accepted in the rest houses (also, as a recommendation all over Ecuador, avoid paying with 20 or 50 notes, always carry change.
5) It is cold. Bring proper clothing
For climbers, you would like to be registered in a climbing program.

This place is amazing but the last part of the road is in real bad shape, too bumpy. It might be too much for somebody with back issues.
