Kiipsaare lighthouse

Stunning place for a walk in the forest and along the sandy beach. There’s also a campsite with a fireplace, wood, toilet and beautiful view to the lake.

Kiipsaare lighthouse is in the water and you actually cannot enter it, however it is really worth visiting. Just to be prepared to walk 4.5 km forward and the same back, so the round trip is a total of 9 km, approximately 2 hours. The walk is through nice woods and lake and has a place for a pit stop in the middle, the last km has some part of the sandy way, much harder to walk. Recommended to take a bicycle ride.

A beautiful place. Very clear water. When we visited it was completely calm. It took us about 1 hour from the parking lot to walk there.

lighthouse worth to visit no doubts, but to rent the bike was huge mistake. the path is not suitable for biking at all, especially with city bike that you can rent.

Very nice place. You can either walk to the lighthouse, or rent some bikes for 10 euros/2 h. It is possible to swim to the lighthouse and enter it. Climbing to the top is dangerous, since the metal latter is old and rusty.

5KM walk from parking lot, but it's definately worth it. You can swim up to the lighthouse and even climb to the top if you have the shoes. Beautiful nature all around.

One of the best places we have seen yet. 4.5km trail to reach it, but it was worth it. The lighthouse is one of the most impressive in the area. It is in the sea and it is like Pizzas tower in Italy. Also big impression left the peninsula. Very long one. The sea is from both sides. Very nice area, very recomended to visit.

Little bit over rated like most things in Saarema but worth the walk there. Climb is quite dangerous if you fall there is no help for hours I guess.

When you go to the car park there is a small bike rental place. 10 euros for 2 hours which is enough to bike to lighthouse and back. There is a small part near the lake on the way to the lighthouse where you push your bike on the sand and then the bike path continues. There is a bike stand near the lake where people park and just walk thinking its sand all the way. Don't park there take your bike with you all the way to the beach where the light house is. The sand part is only 200m then a path will continue.

The walk there is quite boring and takes minimum 4 to 5 hours so I do recommend renting a bike. Bike place closes at 7pm.

The 4,5km walk to the lighthouse is definitely worth the effort. There is a fireplace at 3,5km where you can take break or picnic. You need good and solid shoes for the trail. Walk along the shoreline for a magnificent view.

Super photo site! Drones need permission, be careful. The hike of 4km is worth it. You can walk to tower, shallow waters. Climb it on your own risk, we did it and it's a history now to tell..

Hidden gem. A tilted lighthouse in the sea. Not accessible by the car, but you can rent a bike nearby.

Really worth visiting! From the parking lot it took 1 hour to reach it on foot. The walk there was fantastic through pine wood, dunes with birds chirping up in the sky.

We visited Kiipsaare lighthouse in May 2023. A spectacular beach with a unique lighthouse! We were the only ones at the beach, only adding to the magic. The hike to the lighthouse was fairly long and boring. Hiking along the shoreline is not recommened as it's sandy all the way.

BEWARE, if you're coming from the east, (Panga pank for example) Google maps will try to guide you through impossibly muddy roads that are only meant for offroaders or are off limits to general public. Keep to bigger roads until you see a sign pointing towards Harilaiu matkarada. You will have to hike 4,5 km, partly through sand, to see the lighthouse, but it's well worth the trip, especially in the evening before sunset. If you want to actually go in the lighthouse, I imagine you'd have to wait til winter when the sea is frozen, since it's quite a bit out in the water. Unless you feel like getting soaked. If you're planning to camp, there's also a spot two thirds of the way towards the lighthouse, unaccessible by car, but fine by bike or foot. Or horse. Or a broom, whatever floats your boat. Could go by boat too probably, just make sure it's one of those that can skip on sand.

Very nice place. It deserves the walk (1hr approx from the parking). Any time is OK however sunset is recommended.
