Gorgeous most well preserved and intact temple in all of Egypt. So much Christian and Greek influenced art on the temples, during the rule of the Roman Empire starting from 330BC.
You can see how the new rulers came in and retell the story how they themselves became kings. You even find Horoscopes on the walls of the temple..
An absolute must go but boy, was it hot. 40°c. Beautiful lighting throughout the temple.

This temple is mesmerizing. Visiting early in the morning is the best time to appreciate the wonderful and magnificent experience of sunlight painting the high walls of the temple. It is, beyond doubt, one of the best memories I have from Egypt.

On a Nile cruise so seeing all the sights. Edfu one of the most complete temples on the Nile and well worth a bit. All ground surfaces are very uneven so not wheelchair friendly ore suitable for anyone not steady on their feet. Allow about 1.5 hours.

A huge temple and archaeological site that has to be included in your places to visit in Egypt.
It is well known for its size, many rooms and courtyards, hallways, ornate columns, edifices, and statues.
It also has much of the original paint in place on some of the columns and ceilings.
It was heavily damaged during various occupations, and by some occupiers who tried to “erase” some of the figures from its walls, but it still has so much amazing and beautiful writings and carvings that are completely intact.
Plan on spending about an hour and a half at least to explore the entire temple.
It gets busy mid-day when the tour buses start to arrive, so get there a little earlier in the day, if you can.

It's 36mt tall, the gate has 2 granite Horus statues. It has great pillars and very beautiful writings and graffiti.
You can only see there "A real Holy Boat Model" at the holy chamber.
In a nutshell, this is one of the most beautiful and underrated places in Egypt.

We visited this temple enroute from Aswan to Luxor. This is temple of Horus. A few remarkable things about there is the best preserved statue of god Horus at the entrance on either sides of the pylons. The ceilings and paint is well preserved. Definitely well worth the visit!

Very nice temple! Dedicated to the husband of Hator, Horus. Also, the temple is in the old 50 Egyptian pounds. Please take pictures with the falcon at the entrance, very nice view. Go in the morning to avoid crowds like 9-11am.

You can spend 2 hours on the temple easily.

We were lucky to hit Edfu Temple when there were very few people. You will be amazed on how large and beautiful the temple is. We came via van from Aswan, the roads are very rough so be prepared. Such history is almost overwhelming. Just as all the other ruins in Egypt you will pay a separate entrance fee from your guide.

One of the most wonderful temples in Egypt, not for the colours like Valley of the Kings but for the preservation and the completeness of the temple. the temple has its own majestic view from outside and from inside it will make you go back in time with its writing which are also preserved explaining Horus story with Seth and Hathor, in addition to story of Min in one of the champers. and its also the second largest temple in egypt after Karnak.

Superb temple of Edfu. Lots has been written about it so will not repeat. Tips : you can walk up to the temple, horse carriage is not required. The tour groups from the Nike cruises arrive at 6 and leave by 730. The temple is relatively empty after that. Only cards are accepted for tickets and students get a 50% discount.
Once done, Try the Turkish coffee in the shop outside the entrance, it's great .

What a magnificent sight! The temple is remarkably well-preserved, and you feel like you've been transported back in time. It also provides a great example of how a classic temple during the Ptolemaic Period was designed, with a tower (known as a pylon) serving as a gate, a courtyard for holy festivals, a first and second colonnade, and finally, the sanctuary.

The temple dedicated to God Hours is a must see. The facade is impressive. With 2 large falcon shaped image of Horus at its entrance.
Walk up to the inner sanctuary to see the boat the priests used to carry Horus. Also make sure you see the spiral and the straight stairways. It is said that in his battle with Crocodile God Sobek, Horus used the spiral stairs to go up to heal himself and would dive back in using the straight stairways. Get in early to beat the crowds and the heat. Entry ticket 300 Egyptian Pounds per person.
Student with international students pass at 50% entry everywhere.

Absolutely massive temple complex and as my internet search revealed is was built in the Ptolemaic Kingdom between 237 and 57 BC. The inscriptions on its walls provide important information on language, myth and religion during the Hellenistic period in Egypt. In particular, the Temple's inscribed building texts "provide details [both] of its construction, and also preserve information about the mythical interpretation of this and all other temples as the Island of Creation."[2] There are also "important scenes and inscriptions of the Sacred Drama which related the age-old conflict between Horus and Seth."[2] They are translated by the Edfu-Project. And it is worth a long look.

In my opinion this is the most stunning temple in Egypt. Surely the most untouched one. Unbelievably beautiful and astonishing

The Temple itself is majestic, and we really enjoyed it. The problem is the entry organisation is chaotic, we went there at 5.15 am to stand in the line for 45mins and when the gates opened at 6am, all the lines were accumulating in one room to go through the safety gates, people were pushing each others security people were so rude. The guides were telling their groups to push people away from their lines. It was a real catastrophe, unfortunately.
Apart from this bad experience, the Temple really a must see.

It is a sublime place, especially for art lovers!
However,if you can, avoid to visit it during the weekends because due to the boats traffic it gets very busy.

Yet another wonderful ancient temple along the Nile. I can't add much to what has already been said here about it. I do recommend finding an excellent guide. There is so much to the culture that would be missed without having an expert pointing out the beauty and mysteries.

Impressive and well preserved temple. Worth a visit.
Can be reach by train (train ticket cost 20 usd by either Luxor or Aswan) or by small 9 places bus from the bus stations (bus ticket 1 usd by either Luxor or Aswan).

Edfu temple took 180 years to complete, it was started in 257 BC. It is largely considered one of the best preserved shrines in Egypt. The temple had been buried by sand over the centuries to 12 meters/39 feet when it was discovered in 1798, it didn't get unburied until 1860.
