Imhotep Museum

The museum is open again and is an awesome quick stop that you have to see for yourself! I love that they included a small library / reading room; extremely well kept/clean and an amazing addition to Saqqara!

Breathtaking and very well organized. Worth a repeat visit to Sakkara just to see. Also a nice air conditioned break from the heat. The ticket booth takes all major credit cards. It is also wheelchair accessible.

This is about 20km from the Giza Pyramids, and is quite impressive being the near the site of the Step Pyramid and the mortuary complex of King Zoser (Djoser), the Pyramid of Unas, the Teti Pyramid, Old Kingdom tombs with scenes of daily life, and much more. So there are a lot of things to see and the place is well set out and well signed with lots of information.

Very good introduction to the Saqqara site, with a small selection of very good artefacts. Good level of information provided.

An absolute must see - do the whole Saqqara tour as it is a great combination of pyramids and artifacts. Lots of exquisite sights. Recommend a guide to take you through to tell you facts. Our guide from VIP had 23 years of experience so we learned so much more from him than we would have from just a book. The small details matter! It was absolutely beautiful and the artifacts in the museim were so cool!

Amazing museum. Not that many tourist come here so be ready for some one on one time. lots of locals but nobody pays attention to the locals. They pay attention to you because you will tip.

Very clean & friendly staff

I’ve visited the museum by car, ticket fee was 5 le for the car and 5 le for the museum for Egyptians. The museum is well kept. There are around 280 pieces of ancient statues. Of course there is a statue of Imhotep. No videos were allowed inside the museum, just photos. Great to pass by the museum if you are visiting Saqqara.

No trip to the Step or Red Pyramid should end without seeing this Museum. It's small but has Imhotep's Mummy too.

I must add the ride to Saqqara (also spelled Sakkara or Saccara) was like riding through a typical 3rd world country. Atypical as compared to other parts of Egypt.

What an amazing place thou' it's small but very beautiful.

A great museum that is away from the hustle and bustle of the much busier Cairo Museum. The artefacts in this museum are great and give a great insight into the history of Egypt. The security is much less strict than Cairo and are much friendlier. Make sure you have a great tour guide with you to explain the artefacts. Beware of the locals, who will be persistent to be your "friend" and later on want a tip.

A must visit if you are in this area to check out oldest pyramids. We loved the museum for its artifacts, and it was pretty quiet as well when we visited during late evening.

Excellent small museum in sakkara

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities said the project of restoring Imhotep Museum in Saqqara is about to be finalized.

In statements on Saturday 04/03/2023, the Assistant Tourism Minister and supervisor of the projects sector of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Hisham Samir, said the museum was renovated in addition to upgrading the services offered to visitors, especially for handicapped.
