Amazing old abandoned village that became a ghost town when the reservoir came to be. Such a shame because it would have been a quaint little place. Still, worth parking at the bottom by the Esco road sign and wandering up the hill.

Creepy but beautiful. It's an abandoned city with a church. The feeling when you walk through the ruins it's one of a kind. I recommend it, it's going to be an amazing experience.

Cute litte abandoned village on our drive to Bilbao. Worth stopping by, must see the old church and the ruinned homes/shops that surround it.

The ruins of the village look like a war zone. In fact, it was used as a shooting location for the "Gernika" movie. The actual reason for its state of ruin was the creation of the Yesa reservoir in the 1950s. The water flooded the croplands and, together with it, the livelihood of the local people, who had no option but to migrate.

To visit an abandoned village during a pandemic is something ill never forget. Had a long chat with one of the brothers that still lives here, don't be shy he's very friendly!

A profound experience. The village is not entirely uninhabited as one (very friendly) family of shepherds perseveres. With the construction of a new highway, the Yesa reservoir will apparently be further filled up.

Great place to walk, take care - not a safe place by any means, its collapsing.

Stay for a while, enjoy the lovely groves around and wait for the sunset...

An abandoned village in a stunning location. Be careful- buildings don't look very safe to be around!
