Albergue Camino de Santovenia

I stayed here April, 2024 while walking the Camino. I was able to make a reservation by email. This hostel is well organized to cater to the pilgrims; so, at the price point, this is a very good place to stay. There is a small bar/restaurant on the ground floor and rooms on the 1st floor. I stayed in a shared dormitory with bunk beds which included pillows. There were large lockers available for each guest. The bathroom was large and very clean - ladies' had 2 toilets, 2 showers, 2 sinks. There was soap in the shower. For an additional cost you can have dinner in the comedor which was delicious and reasonably priced (14€ at the time). There is no breakfast here. So, be sure to have a snack for the next morning as the next town's bar may not be open.

Made us very welcoming. The owners Raquel and her husband looked after us very well. Nothing was too much trouble and their food was fantastic, especially menu of the day. Hopefully see you again when we are passing. We were the ones that came with the bikes, totally wet with storm Ciaran. All our best regards

The Camino de Santiago is very busy this year. Many of the albergues are full. We decided to take an alternate path via Santovenia de Oca Albergue. The location is enchanting, the rooms are comfortable with plenty of fresh air. The shower area is very clean and had supplies. The food was exceptional—the best that I have had since starting the Camino. At the albergue there is a small pool with cold spring water to soak tired feet. The most important, however, is the outstanding service. It’s a family business and everyone was friendly and helpful. The bar is a gathering spot for locales and pilgrims. I highly recommend this establishment if you are walking the Camino towards Burgos.

At the end of a long and exhausting walk this albergue is an oasis of happiness. Welcoming hosts, great food and clean beds. Highly recomended!

After reading some pretty poor reviews on accommodation in st. Juan de Ortega, we stumbled upon this gem. It's along the alternative route to Burgos. Owners were so kind and accommodating. Food was excellent , Albergue was newly renovated, very clean, had hot showers and was quiet. Well worth the extra 3k. Highly recommend!

It takes some guts to open the only restaurant/bar/guesthouse in a town with only 3 inhabitants! But the town is cute and near the excavations of Atacuerca and the Camino de Santiago. This combined with friendly service with a smile, decent food and fresh kaki fruit. I recommend this place. Enjoy! P. S. Ask for the camino dance!

Arrived almost 8pm mid October. There's beds available. Bar in San Juan de Ortega suggested here instead of Agés or Atapuerca since likely full by time I arrive. Clean. Has window. Bar below. Paid €15. Pricier but I do have a bed.

THE BEST!!! Brand new Albergue located in Santovenia de la Oca, an alternate route from San Juan de Ortega to Burgos. Clean, spacious and excellent service overall. We have been doing el Camino for 10 days already and this is one of the best albergues so far! Thank you!!!!

Comfortable bed and clean bathroom! Host was friendly and this seem to be a hangout place for locals. Fun locals :)

Excelente trato y servicio de Raquel ya que antes de llegar a Santovenia haciendo el Camino me he lesionado y su marido ha ido a recogerme. Nos han ofrecido un servicio y menú excepcional. Son excelentes. Como apunte, Santovenia está en el trazado antiguo de Camino Francés hacia Burgos desde San Juan de Ortega. La otra variante por Atapuerca se "creo" para promocionar el museo.

Faute de place sur le chemin de Saint Jacques, cette petite variante permet de découvrir une équipe sympathique qui gère un établissement calme et où on a mangé des produits locaux excellents. À retenir cette auberge.

Je Suis passée pour manger le midi pendant mon pèlerinage.
Les portions sont généreuses.
L'accueil est incroyable pour un prix plus que correct.
Je recommande complètement.

Es un lujo que en pleno Febrero haya un albergue/bar abierto y tan bien atendido en un pueblo, con mucho encanto, donde el frío de la calle contrarresta con el calor, cariño, trabajo e ilusión que le pone Raquel, la persona que lo gestiona, generosa y amablemente. María y yo lo recomendamos 100%, sin duda !!!

Un lugar de amabilidad y servicio siempre con una sonrisa la comida de muy buena calidad y no escasa y el entorno bellísimo, una pena que la iglesia no sea visitable, al menos cuando yo fui

Las habitaciones amplias y limpias
Los lavabos muy limpios.
La comida rica rica, como en casa.
