Nice place, if you are in Almunecar you would be to come here. It is clean and near the town of city.
General tickets are 4 euros, +65 or Retired people are 2, 5 euros.

Great exhibition about the history of Almuñécar from Roman times til Reconquista. Hilarious little movie. Nice models and exhibits. All very well presented. Stunning view on the Sea and mountains, especially around sunset. They don’t accept card payments but you can buy a combined ticket at the archeological museum which is also worth a visit although not as well presented as the exhibition in the castle and some texts only in Spanish. It’s about the history of the town from Stone Age til Roman period.

What a great place! Definitely worth the €2.50 entrance fee (OAP rates), includes entry to the caves museum. Really interesting place, lots of information, in English as well as Spanish. Particularly enjoyed the video conversation between the Roman, Christian and Muslim. Very well done.

The visit of the Castel (same ticket with the Museum) is a must to understand some history of Almuñécar. The distinction between the Romans and the Arabs, the changes of the coastline and activities in the town, etc. The best time is the sunset, so better come before 7:00 P.M. After or before the visit, go to the museum, walk in the barrio St Miguel, go to the plaza de la Constitution and around, Casa de la Cultura, etc. Enjoy the good food and the village,

This is highly recommended because not only is it good to walk around the explanations and the additional information are very well presented in both Spanish and English. There is also a small museum inside that showed how the city developed with each conquering nation, excellent plus great views

Took about an hour to see everything, although we came the first thing in the morning, there were way more people when we left. Not a lot of parking space.
The museum was interesting, liked the mini models of what the city looked like in different periods in time.
With the ticket for this castle we also got a ticket to a museum near by, that was in a cave. There were mostly old vases and info about how people used to trade stuff.
Anyways, would recommend for adults that like history, as a quick stop

Worth an hour or two of your time. More to see than there looks at first as interesting displays are tucked away within the site. Useful descriptions in English and Spanish. Great views. Cheap entry, reduced for 65+, and was free on a Friday morning. Can to be tricky to find the entrance if coming through the old town, head for Calle Esplanada San Miguel. We walked up the access road on the western side of the headland near the park.

Very good value for money. Compact so good for toddlers and children (under close supervision as there aren't guard rails!). Interesting displays of archaeological finds. Brilliant views! Bit tricky to find though and check opening times so you aren't disappointed. Definitely worth a visit!
