Discover Omo

Me and my son visited Omo Valley for 1 week with Discover Omo and the amazing Biniyam from February 3rd to 9th 2024.

We started our trip in Jinka and finished in Arba Minch visiting plenty of tribes along the route, doing a non-touristic tour and living the real Omo experience.

Biniyam organized everything perfectly, brought us to very unique places and thanks to his connections most of the times we visited places with no other tourists around and having a real genuine connection with local people.

He was very caring all week long to adapt the trip to our own taste and desires, changing along the way in order to customize as much as possible the experience.

Will absolutely suggest if you are looking to get a tailored and "pampered" experience :)

Biniyam provided us with an incredible experience taking us on a 6 day tour through the Omo Valley. We visited the Dorze, Mursi, Hamer, and Dasenech tribes. The accommodations were very nice and the food was delicious. Biniyam spoke all the local languages and had great relationships with all of the villages we visited which is very important in a guide.

I recently returned from a 12-day trip to Ethiopia (in the middle of COVID-19) and had an unexpectedly trouble-free experience. I visited the tribes of south Omo valley and although I had to present a negative COVID-19 test, otherwise I was allowed to go wherever I wanted. I used Discover Omo tours and they facilitated everything for me, so it was surprisingly painless. There were very few tourists, so I pretty much had the place to myself, which was lovely. Biniyam with Discover Omo went above and beyond to ensure I had a great trip and I greatly appreciated his friendliness and professionalism. I highly recommend them. Thanks Bini!

I went to the Omo valley for 5 days with Omo tours, I had a great experience with Biniyam, he’s a great tour guy who has the most complete knowledge of the zone and the tribes, he’s an excellent driver as well, he can do any tailor made tour at an affordable price, he took me to see different tribes every day and he’s knowledge it’s impeccable, he also took you for a home cook meal which was very delicious, I can not express the great time I had with Omo tours as he’s a great and reliable tour guy, plus Ethiopian airlines cancel my flight he drove 19 hours so I can catch my flight on time !! I recently returned from my 4th visit to south Omo valley and had an amazing adventure yet again. I was disappointed to see that Kibish was surprisingly more touristic than I expected, and not in a good way. I was even more surprised to find the same in the Kwegu village I visited. “Birr! Birr! Birr!” Maybe on my next trip I will attempt to reach the Kwegu settlements further up the river. Everything else was excellent. I used Discover Omo tours to arrange everything and they did an excellent job as always, but insisted on my following my own itinerary, so I have no one to blame but myself for my expectations regarding Kibish and the Kwegu. Biniyam was a lifesaver! He went out of his way to make sure my family and I had a safe and interesting adventure! Excellent job guys! Do yourself a favor and visit Omo valley but bypass Kibish and Korcho (also very touristic).

Benyam, the owner of Discover Omo, gave my family and I a tour of Omo Valley 2 weeks ago and we were very impressed. Benyam is a very friendly, personable, and knowledgeable local guide from Jinka. He went above and beyong to make sure we had a safe, enjoyable and non-‘human safari’-like experience. It was apparent that he was well known and respected in each of the locations we visited and he was very trustworthy and honest. Having a local guide was priceless and his price was fair. We highly recommend Benyam and Discover Omo!

Biniyam is an amazing guide and driver. We had the most amazing trip around the Omo Valley. Including a few nights of camping out.
