Ethio Amba Tours

I booked a two-day tour to visit Awra Amba, and it's surrounding. Right from the start, Asnake was very welcoming and accommodating to my needs. He organized transport from and to Bahir Dar as well as accommodation in the only but very sweet & clean pension in Awra Amba.

On the first day, we stayed within the community of Awra Amba where I got to learn more about their history, values and principles. Gender equality, peer to peer education, and consensus based, and participatory solution finding processes make this community uniquely progressive and put it into stark contrast with the rest of Ethiopian society. We ended the day with an Injera making workshop at one of the villagers house.
On the second day, we hiked through the rural landscape to visit a family that hand produces the plates to make Injera. On our way there, we were able to watch farmers on their way to sell their produce at the market. The landscape in Amhara county is beautiful to walk among, with many birds to watch and seemingly endless space. It was a very nice and not too difficult hike. We ended the day with a small walk to the village garden and watched the sunset on a hill.

Asnake is a very informative, kind, patient, and reliable host and guide. Thanks to his in depth knowledge of the region and the community of Awra Amba, as well as his excellent communication skills, he is able to convey the culture and traditions of the region beautifully. I spent 2 days with my dear Asnake in the City of Awra Amba. He is a kind, calm and patient guide who teached me about ethiopian history and culture. Hé took care of me a long time even after we said goodbye and is a nice relationship for ever.

Clean rooms, comfy beds, very quiet place for relaxing.
They even have WiFi and the most reliable WiFi we had in Ethiopia.
The restaurant serves fresh and tasty food.
I definitely recommend spending at least two nights there.

Amazing place to visit! You can really feel the comunity life and even experiance Enjara cooking! Asnaka nice guide, very professional, took care of everything we needed!

We had an amazing and interesting tour in the community by local guide. We stayed there for one night, the accommodation were fine and also the food from the local restaurant.
Asneka is really honest and helpful man, helped us in everything.
