Another wonderful site to visit in kaarina. Historic and at the same time breath-taking ruins of old kuusito bishop castle.

Tranquil place to have a walk or a picnic . There is a nature trail nearby, so both activities can be combined. To do that park the car before you reach the manor (There is a P sign on your left) and then follow the signs that will take you through the forest to the hill and down to the castle ruins.

Free visit which includes few trails in the forrest and the old castle site that was definitely worth to visit. The site is clean and there is a cafe & bathrooms, so you can spend some time there if you want. The castle ruins history takes you back in to early 14th century.

Worth to visit, entry is free. I felt pity that big old castle has been demolished. Nice place for Sunday picnic.

Historical ruins of a medieval Bishop castle. Castle was destroyed by Gustaf Vasa, king of Sweden, when he abandoned Roman Catholic faith in favor of Lutheran, which made the king head og the church.

Despite the ruins are not as impressive as the castle itself would be, I can only address this notice to the Swedish people who destroyed it by the order of the King Gustav Vasa. On the site there are multiple boards with historical description and truly nice drawings of the castle as it was centuries ago. Nearby is one of the oldest log houses in Finland.

Well worth a stop. Free parking and no admission. Park at the designated parking and walk the short trail to the ruins,or continue along the road to park next to the ruins. Public toilets are available during summer season.

Kuusisto Castle was a medieval episcopal castle on the island of Kuusisto in Kaarina, Finland, near Turku. The castle was probably built in the early 14th century, although the site seems to have been a bishop's residence by the 1290s. The castle was ordered to be demolished during the Protestant Reformation in 1528 by the king Gustav I of Sweden. Excavation and reconstruction work on the remaining ruins began in 1891.

A small castle built in the middle ages, torn down during the reformation and excavated in the late 19th century. Definitely worth visiting if the sort of thing interests you, only a 10 minute drive from the main road.

Historical site, beautiful nature, a short trip from the highway.... A great place to picnic or stop by. Otherwise, not very developed or informative site.

A neat 13th century construction, now in ruins. Very interesting stonework and a view of the sea. Definitely worth checking out!
