L'Aigle d'Or

A superb evening of wonderful French gastronomy. Every course was beautifully presented with lots of detail and flavours. The restaurant catered for a gluten free diet (notified in advance) without any problem at all which was very much appreciated. The lamb was exceptional but all courses were superb. The maitre d and his young team were all so welcoming and professional. We will most definitely return on our next visit to the region.

Beautiful dinner with a party of 7. Had one member with a long list of allergies and the kitchen was more than accommodating, we all had the best dinner of our holiday here. Phenomenal value for money and amazing quality. Worth travelling to the city for the food here alone.

We’ve been eating at this restaurant for over thirty years, but have not been back recently. This evening we returned to discover that the place has new owners and a whole new eating experience to discover. I cannot recommend it highly enough, delicious, innovative and beautifully presented with excellent service. Thank you !

Without a doubt, our dinner at L'Aigle D'or was the highlight of our tour of the Loire Valley. The food is prepared and presented to an exceptional standard and is packed with flavours that are always complementary yet are sometimes surprising. Gourmet dining at prices that represent fantastic value. Can't recommend it highly enough. If you are in the area eat there. You won't be disappointed and you won't forget the experience. A gem of a restaurant!

If you are in, or exploring near, Azay-le-Rideau eating at L’Aigle d’Or is an absolute must. We had the 6 course tasting menu with wine pairings and it is one of the most memorable meals I have ever had. We were served by one of the owners who was incredibly knowledgeable about local ingredients and wines. All of the wines we tasted were high quality, unique, local wines. The food was beautifully presented, balanced, thoughtful, and delicious.

Prices are extremely reasonable for the quality of the food and experience. We had an amazing dinner and tasted 5 local wines for less than what some companies charge for a wine tour.

From the outside didn’t know what to expect. Wandered down the side of the restaurant to a lovely garden area.

What followed was amazing. I’ve eaten in some top London restaurants but the food I was lucky to have here was simply the best .

The front of house, the waiter service and the quality really was second to none.

What a find . We were staying at Le Grand Monarque for a couple of nights. Chenonceaux at Christmas is a sight for the eyes, no château visit could be better.
We were amazed to find such a superb restaurant - faultless.
Menu and wine list excellent. The welcome and service excellent.
In fact so impressed we went back a second night so had an opportunity to work through the menu !
Eleanor and Simon had only taken it over three weeks previously but it didn’t show. So it will be unbelievable in the future.

Delightful experience: the outdoor terrasse is beautiful and so peaceful, the food is really good and well thought, the staff is really nice. A must-do while in Azay le Rideau.

Honestly one of the best meals I have ever had. Not in the town centre so search them out.
