We had our stay at Grinton lodge last weekend and I would like to convey my gratitude and happiness with all of you that the stay was awesome and the hostel was one of our best experiences till date.
All the facilities was amazing and the arrangement was awesome.
The personn who did the briefing was awesome.
All our rating will be done with five stars from the 13 families and I even don’t know how much we are happy for the facilities.

We will definitely come back and have great experience again and again.

2 night stay in their camping pods that allows dogs.
Fully equipped communal kitchen. Cosy lounge with free WiFi.
Friendly and attentive staff.
Firepits and logs to buy if you forget yours.
Lovely views.
Great location for exploring places such as Richmond Castle. Cauldron falls, The druids temple and so much more.
I would like to return for longer in the summer.

Hidden in the trees at the top of the hill, this youth hostel is in a great location. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the rooms are perfect for the price! We arrived late (9.30pm) and the car park was already full so had to park outside on the road, but there is plenty of room on the verge.

If you’re reading this review, VIST !! Grinton lodge is an amazing place to stay, stayed here as a last minute trip never had stayed at a YHA accommodation before, facilities are fantastic offering both self catering and restaurant / bar facilities , plenty of communal areas to sit and relax 24hrs a day, very clean and well catering venue, staff are very friendly and welcoming. Great area for walking or using as a base to explore local attractions.

Wonderful youth hostel. We were in a 4 bedroom en suite as a family of 4. Comfy beds. Lots of accessible plug sockets. Clean.

We had breakfast one day in the cafe, which was all you can eat English breakfast. The kids were free, so all 4 of us ate our fill for under £20. They offered dinners too, again kids free with adult meal, but we didn't try those.

The communal kitchen in the main house was quite small and no microwave. But there is a bigger one in the outside building with a microwave. Ovens were better in the bigger kitchen too, although only 1 shelf in each oven which isn't very practical. The bigger kitchen seems quite new but a few corners cut on not the best layout.

The tiny issues with the kitchen didn't really detract from our stay. The location is lovely for exploring the dales. If you want to walk you could just walk straight from the hostel. We visited lots of castles, water falls and the cheese creamery.

This youth hostel is an unexpected gem of a place. The building still feels like an old stately manor with lots of charm. The location is breathtakingly beutiful. 5 seconds out of the gate and you are on the moors. Sheep and chickens wander around the gardens and its so peaceful and quiet ... its amazing.
We stayed in one of the outdoor pods. And they were clean, warm and comfortable. The shared showers were spotless with lots of hot water.
The food both in the evening (the chicken, ham and leek pie! SO good) was delicious and the cooked breakfast in the morning was very very good as well.
Friendly, helpful staff and a lovely atmosphere was just the icing on the cake.
We WILL be back to visit!

We stayed in a Landpod not the main building.
The pod was a quirky alternative to camping and the wooden pods.
There was plenty of sleeping space and a bench to sit on inside, plenty of storage under the bunks. There is a picnic bench and firepit for each landpod, remember to bring some wood if you want to use it
The beds were the normal good quality youth hostel mattresses, which are covered in plastic for hygiene purposes so they can be wiped down. Clean comfortable bedding and duvet.
There is a separate toilet block, kitchen and lounge area for the campers and pod visitors. So no need to use the main building. It was there if you need it.
We self catered using the kitchen which was clean and well equipped.
There are meals available in the main hostel and the reception desk so a variety of teas, coffees, soft and alcoholic drinks. The bottled beer was quite expensive though.
We chose the pod because we had a dog and they are not allowed in the main hostel bedrooms. It suited us fine for a last minute night away.
There are stunning views from the hostel and pod site and its a peaceful unspoilt location.
Grinton and Reeth are just down the hill, it's a bit of a hike back up if you are walking, but worth the effort.

We stopped overnight here on our Coast to coast ride, and it was excellent. The pod in the cute pod village was warm and cosy with two comfortable beds, warm bedding a heater and electricity to charge devices. Warm showers were clean and very welcome after a long day in the saddle. The self catering kitchen was well equipped and clean, and it was so nice to sit down and eat a meal in the communal dining room. Staff were super helpful and welcoming. Beers and soft drinks were available at reception and I bought a postcard too. Slept like a log, and woke up to a very pleasant breakfast. I was more than happy with the toast fruit muesli juice and coffee on offer to set up for another days riding.
Parking in the car park for my friends’ caravan was a bit slopey, and it was a feat to manoeuvre it in, but their dogs were welcome and could join us in the building which was great. I would recommend this stop in a lovely setting for a functional comfortable stay in a very pretty part of the UK

Booked a camping pod for an overnight stay with my partner, young stepdaughter and dog.

Stunning views of the Dales. The pod was very comfortable and secure, and the radiator kept us cosy - but maybe bring a couple of blankets for a winter stay if you're especially susceptible to the cold! The hostel was extremely dog friendly, which meant we could bring him into the lounge and dining room with us on a lead, and never leave him unsupervised. Shower and toilet facilities were very clean, and easily accessible both inside and outside thanks to the electronic key cards.

Special thanks to Jackie in particular for her amazing customer service.

YHA have never let us down yet. Highly recommended.

Great place for walking in the Yorkshire Dales. Excellent walks along Swaledale or Fremington Edge and Arkengarthdale straight out of the front door.

What a fantastic experience of YHA!! Grinton Lodge is a wonderful location & fabulous base to explore The Dales. The service was great & staff so friendly & facilities fab 😁. We stayed in a LandPod & had the best night's sleep in a long time. We will be revisiting & have joined the YHA to make use of some of their other lovely looking properties. No hesitation in recommending Grinton Lodge at all - well worth the visit!
