Casa Palopó - Relais & Chateaux

Casa Palopó is one of the most beautiful places at the lake. I went to have an early dinner and food was amazing. The staff was very kind and helpful specially Pablo, the manager; definitely made us feel at home. The view is incredible. If you are on vacation and want to have great food at a great location you can't miss Casa Palopó.

This hotel is amazing! It has the most stunning view overlooking the lake, fantastic amenities and lovely staff. Breakfast was delicious - particularly the homemade banana bread! The manager Pablo was incredibly helpful and helped us arrange arrival via helicopter by landing on their helipad which was a very special experience! Would highly recommend this hotel.

We were lucky enough to stay here shortly after we hiked Acatenengo. We were largely looking for some rest and relaxation which is exactly what we got. From the beautiful rooms with an amazing private view of Lake Atilan. We had a seating area where we could enjoy a coffee or drinks overlooking the lake, but we had a second patio where a bathtub was perfectly situated to enjoy the view while having a good soak. Each room was located perfectly to ensure complete privacy. There are two pools on different levels, one with a jacuzzi, again looking over the lake. I believe there are 14 rooms so you do see other guests but only briefly, the entire experience was very peaceful. Interrupted only when a helicopter would arrive to drop off or pick up guests. We didn't use this option but it seemed that if you wanted to avoid the three hour drive from guatemala city and the airport you could look into this option. I can only assume you would be treated to incredible views on the trip as well. The food was second to none, we enjoyed breakfast and dinner there a couple times and we're not disappointed by the selection of dishes and the food. They also have a well stocked bar. In terms of security they have a gate when you enter the property that you need to check in through, felt very secure. As the property is set on the side of the hill overlooking the lake, there were several terraces which wouldn't lend well to wheelchair accessibility, or recovering legs from a volcano hike, as there are many stairs. The staff would from time to time offer rides up and down on the side by side. It wasn't the cheapest place we stayed during our time in Guatemala, but I suppose you get what you pay for. All in all a wonderful experience and we hope to return again.

We went to the main restaurant of Casa Palopo for their special Christmas Eve dinner. The food was excellent, flavored just right with well selected ingredients, not overly seasoned. And even better was the service. The staff is very attentive and clearly well trained. To top everything off, we could not find any means of transportation back from the hotel to Panajachel, and the Managing Director of the hotel drove us! What a nice touch to bring a wonderful evening full circle!

This hotel has some of the most spectacular views of Lake Atitlan, it is a Relais Chateaux so as is to be expected every minor detail has been thought of and it is truly a 5 star experience. Every member staff is extremely attentive; the young lady at the front desk, helped us book a paragliding and a guided ATV tour. Jairo was our server for dinner on both nights and he made great suggestions and was very thoughtful and nice with us. Furthermore the food is beyond delicious (the duck is worth trying), the continental breakfast is also great. Our room was delightful and had a lovely terrace overlooking the lake which was great for early in the morning. If you have time do not miss out on the infinity pool on the villa above which is breathtaking. Would absolutely recommend to anyone.

Casa Palopó was absolutely fantastic! The staff was incredibly polite and attentive, and the food and facilities were 10 out of 10. I would like to especially thank the general manager, Pablo, for his exceptional attention to detail and overall outstanding approach to managing the hotel. I recommend you stay here!

We went to have lunch on Sunday and it was amazing, the food was great and the service was awesome. We met the Manager who kindly gave us a tour through the property, it’s a piece of art and the views are incredible 🤩🤩🤩

Beautiful property and relaxing stay. Conveniently located close to Pana. Stayed in the villa above the main hotel. Stunning views overlooking the lake, beautiful infinity pool. Service and food were wonderful. Would definitely recommend!

Wow. 10/10 experience here this past week. I write this review as we drive away from casa palopo and we are truly devastated to leave. Everything about the hotel was wonderful- the rooms, the restaurant, the VIEW!!! It is a very peaceful and beautiful property. The staff deserve a special shout-out as they were all amazing and made us feel right at home, especially Martin who went out of his way to share the Guatemalan culture and help us in anyway. The nearby town of Santa Catarina palopo is one of the sleepier towns on the lake and it is absolutely beautiful. Thank you to everyone at the hotel who made these past couple days so special. I highly recommend staying here if you can, we cannot wait to come back!

Wow!!!! What a beautiful hotel. Picturesque. Everywhere you turn is another photo opportunity. The food at the restaurant is amazing with excellent views. The service is top notch. The rooms are beautiful and completely different to any other hotel you can imagine. It has a pool at the main level but the prize is sitting in the hot tub and infinity edge pool in the villa that’s sits higher up the mountain. Do not look for any other place to stay. This is the one.

Amazing hotel. The upper pool prob has the best view of atitlan next to infinity pool.
Service is top notch. Free continental breakfast is very basic. Aside from that it’s superb and would come back anytime.
Just 15 mins from Pana via Tuk Tuk that the hotel calls for you anytime.

Everything about Casa Palopa was outstanding. We stayed in 2 different rooms and each one was exquisitely decorated and special. The restaurant was a highlight for us - we ate breakfast and dinner there for almost 7 nights and it was divine. The service and attention to detail was spectacular. We can’t wait to go back this fall.

Casa Palopo is the best property at Lake Atitlan. It has Stunning views from the infinity pool and lake side lounges down the long cliff-side stairwell. A spectacular location to say the least! The hotel is designed with history and color, beautifully decorated rooms and plenty of comfortable space to have a drink and play a game of chess in the evenings. In the mornings I would use the small gym space to workout before a delicious breakfast. We could spend our days relaxing at the the pool or jump on a cart into town, such a convenient location. The restaurant menu is amazing! We ate dinner every night at the hotel and would put it up against some of the best restaurants in the US. The entire staff is amazing, very friendly and helpful at all times. They even bring your food up the long stairwell to the infinity pool (thank you). Also, shout out to the GM Pablo Ybarra. He is attentive to the guest needs, ensures smooth operations and handles all situations with Grace.
Such a relaxing and fun place to visit. It was also romantic for a new relationship to grow ❤ We are returning in the fall for another week! This is our new vacation spot, Cheers Casa Palopo

I went to their restaurant for food. Although it is definitely expensive, the quality is really good. If budget is not an issue, go for it!

Casa Palopó is like something from a dream. We stayed in a junior suite with an incredible view of all 3 volcanos surrounding the lake, and felt really cozy in our tucked away room yet still found it accessible to other parts of the hotel. The infinity pool and hot tub at the very top of the hotel premises were very cool and offered even more amazing views of the lake. The hotel restaurant had a wonderful menu created by a clearly very talented chef who accommodated my vegetarian diet very well, and the drinks offered were wonderful. They're helpful enough to arrange anything you might need like airport transportation, spa services, travel in and around the lake, etc... though really you can find more economical options by simply wandering into nearby Santa Catarina. We highly recommend this for a luxurious, all inclusive stay!

Like another review said- this place is like a dream. The rooms have a beautiful 180 degree views and windows, amazing service and staff, the infinity pool and jacuzzi (and restaurant) had a breathtaking view of the lake and volcanos. We spent our afternoons and evenings enjoying the views. The restaurant was amazing- we wish we could have enjoyed more time here and will recommend it to all.

This hotel is beyond anything you can imagine. We booked 3 nights for our honeymoon and we were blown away from start to finish. It’s exactly like the photos on the website and more.

The food is incredible and reasonably priced for the standard and service, they are so attentive to every detail. I’ve read other reviews on here stating otherwise but is truly not the case, the quality is out of this world and worth every Penny.

The hotel made our honeymoon so special on our second evening, arranging a candle lit dinner filled with roses and candles, Prosecco- something we will never forget.

If you are after a truly incredible experience, this is the hotel for you. Thank you Casa Palopo for everything, we will be back!

My husband and I celebrated our aniversary at Casa Palopo for three days in November, including Thanksgiving. Oh my goodness! The staff at the Casa are above and beyond exceptional. It started upon our arrival as they greeted us at the door with a beautiful and delicious fruit drink and smiles on their faces! The location is gorgeous. How could it not be? Three volcanos and Lake Atitilan, I mean really? There are two pools. Each is beautiful, but the infinity pool is beyond belief! Fernando waited on us every night at the resturant which serves a delicous fusion of traditional food with modern, sophisticated touches. On Thanksgiving day, we reserved a specific table because of the view and WOW! Fernando out did himself. When we arrived for dinner, the table was beautifully decorated with rose petals, candles and with one branch of flowers perfectly draped over the table. Chef even made us two special courses to help celebrate our special day and came out to greet us in order to expain what each course included. This attention to detail clearly reflects their commitment to create special, intimate moments for each guest. They created one of the most beautiful moments in our lives. The view, the ambiance, the food and the special care they put into our stay is something that will remain with us for the rest of our lives! If your are even considering staying Casa Palopo, just go ahead and make the reservations. Our experience was worth every penny and when we return to Guatemala, we'll go back to Casa Palopo.
