Burg Lockenhaus

It’s not only a hotel, but also the castle itself and the museum telling a lot of history
The cost of itself built on a 368 meter high mountain. built around 1200.
And has strong connection to the Night Templars you see everywhere there cross ,even carved in the walls high up search for the history of the Night Templars.

We visited the Game of Dragons event recently and it was great, the location is magical and we’ll surely come back in the daytime.

Beautiful castle, great Service and the dragons were awesome.

Burg Lockenhaus is a hotel as well as a museum and we booked a room in the castle itself, so that we could explore the castle at our own pace. The room was great. It had a livingroom with couch and TV, a luxurious bedroom with a large bed and a separate bathroom with a tub

The museum showed the history of the castle, as well as the Knights Templar who lived here. We also did a separate guided tour related to the Templars.

It is an impressive building, worth admiring. We didn’t manage to find the castle open but it was lovely anyway. I would love to visit it when there is the season. The outside grounds were lovely even though it was winter time. I would love to enter the castle during spring time as it was built by templars.

It's a beautiful castle but we only walked around the castle when we stopped there and then we continued to the final destination...

Beautiful, well preserved medieval castle, rich in history.
There was a lot to see and we were there about 2 and a half hours. Beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and many great photo opportunities.
There is a hotel, restaurant, and small gift shop on site as well as public WC facilities. The castle also hosts special dinners, weddings, and concerts throughout the year.
Lockenhaus is a great place for families, but there are a lot of stairs in and around the castle, so some areas may be difficult for very small children or the elderly to access.
The staff were polite and courteous. We look forward to visiting again to stay the night and see the bats ☺

It's a superb place if you wanna relax. There are a couple of free games to play with (chess, bowling) and a big lake, if you wanna take a walk in nature.

We had a family dinner but a knights banquet! The food was excellent starters were bread and spreads, then veg and meat in center 5 different meats including chicken half’s, red wine white wine apple juice and sparkling water or tap water with many small cakes to follow; best quality at a reasonable price.

Wonderfully evocative castle with wealth of information. Great value for under 10 euro. Explore kitchens torture room and tower with spiral staircase.

The castle is located on top of a hill. There are plenty of rooms inside with interesting stuff. Overall, it was a nice experience.

Amazingly beautiful old castle. Lots of really authentic rooms and exhibitions. Works really well for schools, if you book a trip with - for example - freiraum
