Mt Papandayan

very easy trail,a lot of food stall every check point,a fun hiking adventure in Garut. what I love is the views or scenery is not homogeneous,so almost every 10 minutes the scenery changing.

my recommendation route if u want something challenging for one day hike: Hike until "Post 7" up until gooberhoot-> choose the extreme route to Pondok Saladah-> continue to Hutan Mati (Deadwood) -> down to Post 7 again-> go to the crater-> back to starting point with different route.

My first time here. Its track for hiking is quite challenging, but you can use porter service to help you (note: it's quite pricey though). The scenery is awesome, although I'm not even halfway there.

First time visiting this place, its so amazing, nice view, many valleys, mountain range, white rock everywhere. One of the best mountains in indonesia. The road is rocky and a little bit hazy but its ok, better in company hiking the mountain, dont forget to take a bottle of water.

I love this place. If it's your first time for hiking. Don't worry this is suitable for you. But be careful with wild boar in pondok saladah, you should hang the foods on the tree for safety if you don't want wild boar coma into your tent. But there are a lot of dogs here, it will save you from wild boar. The scenery is so wonderful. I like seeing the stars at night, dead forest is awesome too for taking picture. Last, be careful with water flow otherwise you will fall like me😅

If you want to try hiking for the first time, this is one of the best option. Here you can fins super huge edelweiss garden which is extremely beautiful.

A beautiful view, supportive people who I met on the way (literally they supported me because I was easily tired), a lot of different views from bottom to the top. It felt amazing to hike this mountain.

Beautiful volcano, many trails, but in a day you can see everything

Strato Volcano in Garut is perfect place for hiking. The journey to get here is far and uphill from the main road. The entrance ticket is no reasonable prices, but is worthy with the beautiful the scenery.

Never get bored with the track, nice view on day or night. Good for amateur (imho) the provider placed many restrooms, prayer room (mushala) and they have food stalls too, you can buy some twig to make a campfire

Very nice mountain to hike even if you are a beginner. Facilities are okay (toilet, canteen, mosque). Path and signs are clear and good. You can finished all the attractions here (main crater, ghoberhoet, pondok saladah, hutan mati/dead forest, tegal alun) just within a day without camping. I personally started from Camp David entry point at 9 AM, and finished it back at 4 PM. Be noted a proper hiking outfit is needed especially hiking shoes, raincoat and jacket.

The best place for the beginner mountaineers. Dont worry too much, in the camp there are bathrooms & musholla! Hutan Mati nya mantap betul.

Suitable for beginner hikers. The view is worth the climb. You don't have to pack more things, since shops (warung) are available around the campsite. You can also take a bath if you can handle the cold water. What's more is the edelweiss garden, which can be found after you take 30 minutes of hiking to Tegal Alun. Just bring your essential things, hike with your bestest friends, and enjoy your hike.

Wonderful Papandayan. You'll never regret to come here. This place has amazing view. Great facility, you can find toilet in every shelter and they have humble security.

Papandayan is a perfect mountain for beginners. The wind is very extreme, though, so you better bring both blanket and sleeping bag. Beware of wild boar. The magnificent one is the dead forest. Dead forest is a perfect place to take wedding photos. Almost forgot, bring a masker to protect your self from extremely stink sulfur.

This mountain doesn't require a very long journey but offer a beautiful and diverse landscape! 👍 There are some camping grounds and little shops selling food.

you can get a nice view of sunrise and also other various landscapes. there are guides and officials standby at multiple rest areas. The overal hiking trail is relatively safe but also quite long. You might have to camp here for 2-3 days if you want to visit all spots

it's freezing here at night when dry season. my thermometer shows - 2 degree celcius at 5 am, bring extra jacket, gloves, skullcap , and socks for winter.

My husband and I went there in 1995 and we climbed till the top of the crater which was the only one at that time. Papandayang was active and was very dangerous but we climbed anyway helped by a very nice local guy! This was one of the most exciting experience my husband and I had ( and we travel a lot). There was a lot of sulphur all over, buble volcano mud everywhere, there was a huge noise coming from inside of the mountain and once we got into the crater it was almost impossible to breath because of the strong sulphur gas and we had to put some cloth in our faces to help us keep breathing. The local guy almost fainted and my husband had to help him to get out from there! We love active vulcanos and we tried hard to climb the Monte Merapi vulcano but it had just erupted and the police stopped us from climbing it! The vulcano was alive and ready to explode and the experience of climbing it was unforgetable! In 1995 there were nothing around it and the volcano area was absolutelly wild and remote! there were no shops or signs and we had to climb it without having trail or path just following the local guy who knew the area. It was amazing!

Outstanding scenery, especially with the smoky craters. Hopefully someday I will be reach the top of this mountain.
