Siladen Resort & Spa

This review is way overdue but still time, my husband and I stayed in Siladen in August last year and we had a wonderful time. The black dive was the best experience we ever had! Not many places in the world offers that. Staff was amazing and friendly, it was my husband's birthday I had nothing organised but staff on the other hand surprised me, when we came back from our dive there the bed had a beautiful happy birthday message written with flowers to him! and not only that, during dinner they had prepared a cake especially without me asking! It was a wonderful surprise and we highly recommend staying there. We would go back again any minute!

Summary: I'm a critical customer and I have nothing but GREAT things to say! I loved our 10 days at the resort.

Pros: Incredibly beautiful and well maintained resort. The staff seemed as much family as employees. The food was too good (get ready to eat too much at the buffets)! They don't just speak about eco-awareness, they live it. They generate their own electricity and desalinate their own water; take a tour of the generators and you too will use your A/C more wisely. The resort takes great steps to reduce plastic usage and even challenge their customers to use less too.

We also enjoyed a zero dive day by taking the all day excursion to the Tangkoko National Park.

Cons: I honestly have none. One thing that *might* bother some travelers is the bubble. You arrive into Manado and they pick you up at the airport and whisk you away to their almost private island. you essentially get zero interaction outside of the Siladen bubble with the "local" culture. You don't even need to exchange money for IDR.

We stayed at Siladen Resort in March, 2023 and before we checked out we discussed planning our return! Our family of 4 (kids aged 7 and 9 yrs) love Siladen!

The charm of this resort comes at you from all sides - location, facilities, the social and eco sustainability, the amazing staff at reception, dining, housekeeping, spa, and the dive crew! The graciousness of management and staff begins during the reservation process and just doesn't end.

Accommodation at the resort is beautiful, modern, clean, spacious and comfortable. The four of us fit nicely into a beach villa - they set up two twin beds for the kids and it worked out very well. (We'll try for the 2 Bedroom Villa next time, but if that doesn't work out it won't deter us from staying.)

The pool, bar area, dining room, and spa are lovely. There is always enough room to have a lounger at the pool or beach with options for full shade or sun. Our kids really enjoyed the pool. In fact, they did a PADI Bubble Maker lesson there and LOVED it!

Dining at the resort is wonderful! It's a buffet setup and the menu changes daily. You guys, the food is really really good. (We emailed them for a few recipes to attempt at home.) I think they offer a cooking class and when we go back my husband and daughter want to sign up! Dining staff know your name. It's such a simple and special thing and it sets them apart.

The dive center here is fantastic! Staff is experienced, professional, approachable, and fun! The rental gear is high quality and well cared for. Safety is a priority. The boats are nice and clean. Dive groups are small. It's perfect. We did a number of dives, but also went snorkeling with the kids - they are super flexible with this. (The diving is amazing but I have to imagine that you've already sorted that part out so I won't go into detail about that.)

Our biggest takeaway was that Siladen made all of us feel welcome and at home. Ours were some of the only kids, but I never once felt like they were unwelcome. (I have had that feeling at other remote resorts.) This is 1000% a family place and I can't recommend it enough. Have fun!

I LOVE this place. Everything was perfect, my idea of heaven. The villas are clean and lovely with a wonderful, large outdoor shower. Beds were made up each morning; in the evening there was turn down and mosquito nets were set up. There is a beautiful pool and a long sandy beachfront with options for sunbathing or relaxing out of the sun.
The food was excellent, very high quality. Buffets included a wide variety of delicious options, all cooked to perfection and well-presented. Entertainment accompanied several of the dinner meals where we dined on the beach – one was a performance by staff and their families, another was a talented band that came in from nearby Manado along with dancing on the beach.
Part of what made Siladen such a great experience were the staff. Everyone was kind, friendly and professional. In addition to the house staff who were so attentive and helpful, the dive center staff were excellent. They attended to our equipment and accompanied us on our snorkels, happy to point out creatures we would have missed on our own. The snorkeling around Bunaken National Marine Park was fabulous. The variety of sea life, colors and vibrancy of the reefs was something I’ve never seen before. In addition to our snorkel tours, there was access to the house reef, paddleboards and kayaks.
I hope I can come back to Siladen on another snorkel trip, or just to relax and enjoy.

My partner and I heard about this from the Asia Dive Expo and decided to give it a shot as it wasn't the right season for Raja Empat.

We were really blown away by the level of service, the diving and the food!

The service is very personalised. For instance, they really take the time to know your first/preferred name. When I went diving, they initially indicated my last name instead of my first on my cup, which was fine by me. When they found out how I introduced myself, they switched it out for subsequent dives. They also took time to know our dietary preferences.

The dive guides and boat hands are on the ball, and the most challenging part of diving was getting in and out of my wetsuit. Everything else was cared for, down to aromatherapy face towels after each dive! This was a first for me. The dive sites were also wonderful, with turtles to no end and beautiful corals. Bubble coral shrimp, orangutan crabs, and crocodile snake eels also abound. Don't forget to try their Blackwater dives!

The menu changes daily, and they have a great pastry chef. We also ate so much vegetables because of how tasty they were! They also had butterfish which was so juicy!

My family always comes back here once every few years to snorkel and to simply get a dose of vitamin sea! The resort is homey, the staffs are very friendly and the food is wow. Italian is served on most days, and the seafood barbecue is awesome. It's not difficult to find beautiful corals and fishes here, you don't have to swim too far from the resort's beach side. Divers find this place a heaven, too, for there are daily diving trips to some of the most beautiful underwater conservations of Indonesia.

Quarantine can be soo relaxing

We're a family of 5 with 3 children under 6 years and have spent our first 3 nights in quarantine in Siladen and so far the experience has been outstanding. A lot has been written in favour of this resort and I second this. I'm focusing on the quarantine experience in this review from a family perspective.
Everything from the professional and friendly pick-up at the airport, the private boat transfer to the extremely warm welcome in the hotel by all the staff made us feel welcomed at every moment. We are the first guests since April 2020 and the owners and staff put a lot of effort in re-doing and maintaining the resort in the last 2 years. Everything was well prepared for us including bed arrangement we requested, local pre-registered sim cards and the menu tailored to our taste. After this long time without guests and the difficult overall situation it is astounding how well the team is holding together and working on an amazing experience. We are staying in a beach villa with a small jacuzzi embedded in the terrace only a few meters away from the ocean. The kids love to play in the jacuzzi and the private beach in front of the villa. Me and my wife loved this place. The staff is awesome the atmosphere is great, beautiful beaches and diving. It’s on an island but still has all the luxuries of a 5* hotel, the blue tooth speakers provided in the room to take to the beach is also a nice touch. Finally the diving is AMAZING! Can’t say enough good things about this place!

Beautiful resort, friendly Management and Staff, clean and spacious room, delicious food specially the Italian. Stayed here for 2 nights was not enough to experience the whole resort and facilities. It was a memorable stay and will be back for sure. Highly Recommended!!

Extremely relaxing place to stay with grate facilities. The staff are very friendly and know us by name. Food is fantastic and varied each day. Snorkeling trips were wonderful as well as the house reef.

Wonderful view, excellent food. I took OW dive course there, that had been a real pleasure learning. Big thanks to the outstanding coaches and kind staffs!

Some of the best service I've had at a resort, from breakfast on the beach through to the massage parlourparlour, and the dive guides have hawk eye vision they will take you to the best stuff day after day! Excellent facilities and the value is outstanding. Love the big table idea to be more sociable and to have the option to sit seperatly. Very good thank you 👌

My girlfriend and me did our open water diver here and it was absolutely perfect. Mike (our instructor) is a great guy and explained everything to us in an easy and fun way. We can highly recommend this place!

One of the best indonesia location. The resort is good also for non diver guests. Diving is superlative and food is the best you can find in bunaken.
