White Crater

This place is suitable for you who want to take some photoshoots, or just hang out with your friends and family. Price may change depending on the management. Private car can go directly to the crater (the price more expensive). On the way up, we can learn lots of plants, trees, and animal that exists there by scan barcode in front of the gate and we can slowly hear the explanation from our devices.

Kawah putih (white crater) is the great destination if you come to Bandung. It is near from many tourism places in Ciwidey too, such as Ranca Upas which has camping ground, so you can spend several days to enjoy the areas, the weather usually around 17-23°, such a fresh ambience. The distance from the central city is around 2 hours. Better you rent vehicles cause there haven't any public transportation.

Pretty nice view and scenery, there’s a short walkway that you can go up to a slightly higher area with a small fee but nothing much to see from above that’s too different. The air feels a bit choking and took a while to get used to but quite pretty. Just be careful to not step near the muddy places or you may sink into the sand.

White crater, or simply Kawah Putih, was located in Ciwidey, Kabupaten Bandung. It was a nice place to visit during bright days since the place would look greenish. The smell of sulphur got quite a bit in the way, that's why it's better to put your mask on.

The bridge was a famous place to take photos. The ticket was IDR 15k. You could also rent a photoshoot service offered by some people.

Since I was going there in a travel group, I needed to take a shuttle because the bus couldn't make it to the road. It took about 6-8 minutes from the base, around 2 km I think. However, personal vehicles could get there without using the shuttle.

A wheelchair person could also get there since the roads were made to be disabled-friendly. Since this place is located on the hill, you could also bring your jacket because it's rather chill, especially in this rainy season.

Kind of far, but this place is unique and beautiful.

Amazing place to visit, Kawah Putih (White Crater) is 100% worth the hastle to visit, just get a tour guide to take you there and to the lakeside boat nearby.

Wow... A beautiful tourist place in Bandung. A 2 hour journet to reach Kawah Putih. Traffic Jam and bumpy road but it's worth to visit. Good experience 😊

Beautiful white crater that look greenish. Better to go there in the morning to avoid lot of people. Since its a crater, the sulphur smell so real and the weather quite cold bring your jacket.
If you drove your own vehicle you can go to near white crater and park there then take a few step of stairs.

Been here when raining from light raining to heavy raining but we all enjoyed getting wet, though bloody cold. Personal entrance fee was affordable, which around IDR 28-38k each but then if you wanna cross the bridge in the middle of the crater, you must pay IDR 15k each. Worth to visit.

One important thing to be considered: entrance fee for car is separately counted, which is bit expensive, IDR 165k each car. Alternatively, you can take shuttle bus service which costs IDR 50k each for two-way (up and down).

Going here with my family and my fiancee. This place is suitable for family vacation on weekend especially if you come from outside of Bandung. Lots of freelance photographer that you can rent for 10k rupiah($0.7) each photo but this price still negotiable, I got 100k($7) for 22 photo. Photo transfer to phone with wire.

You cpuld go to the middle of sulphur pond for 15k($1) for 15 minutes. But you can enjoy the smell of the sulphur around the side of the ponds.

If you take picture here it would be blueish and kinda cool. This place is a mandatory visit if you go to Bandung.

Kawah Putih or White Crater is a natural attraction in Ciwidey, Indonesia. It is a volcanic crater that looks like a white sand beach at first glance. However, the sulphuric smell of the water and the yellowish smoke that a cetain part of the crater emits, would tell you that you're at a volcano's mouth. We drove for about 2 hours from Bandung to reach this national park. We entered the park area where we had to pay entrance fees per head, and a separate fee for the car driven by our tour guide. From the park entrance, we drove uphill for about 10 minutes before we reached the parking area for tourists. From there, a short walk brought us to the breath-taking view of the crater. The view was surreal. It's as if we're in another planet. The whitish water and the "shore" were a sight to behold, a photographer's dream landscape, and should be in every tourist's bucketlist.

We spent time taking our photos and exploring all the angles for our shots. We even mounted a huge rock to have our photos taken. There is a floating deck in the middle of the crater but tourists have to pay another fee to be able to have access. Who wouldn't want to be photographed in the middle of a natural wonder? Not us, tourists from the Philippines, who have travelled far enough to miss the opportunity.

It's an experience of a lifetime. It was an unforgettable experience for our group of 5.

Definitely a very popular place to visit in Bandung. View of the crater with the stunning turquoise water was really beautiful. Avoid coming here during public holiday or holiday season to be able to enjoy the view without too much people and disturbance. Masks are recommended, since the sulphuric water produce unpleasant smell and the dust could make it kind of hard to breathe sometimes. Overall, a nice place to take pictures either with your friends or family. Photographers are also available on site if you ever need help to take group photography. On the side note, bear in mind that the entrance ticket is quite pricey, we paid around 250K (2 people with a car). Also, I suggest that you go on a SUV car since the road up from the entrance to the parking lot is horrible (lots of holes).

One of the very beautiful historical sites around Bandung, a very beautiful view for enjoying. 90 minutes trip from the city of Bandung and you can also visit cidiwey or to Rancabali, there are very many places you can choose as you wish (15-30 minutes from the white crater)

Beautiful place but one has to consider the Sulphur gas that is being emitted there, depending on one's level of tolerance. It can get very cold up on top, so warm clothing (like a jacket) is advised - although there is provision to rent warm jackets at the top for some fee (can't remember how much the fee was). The green colored lake is very scenic and the stark contrast of bare-naked trees in the water gives an eerie feeling. The smell of Sulphur can be overwhelming under prolonged exposure. Nonetheless, it is worth a visit there.

Beautiful place to spend your holiday, you can take many different photograph here, but dont take too long cuz the SO4 will make your nose smell kinda weird.

Love the scenery, it is so beautiful, love the vibe here.. it was a public holiday so traffic was crazy.. i would recommend to avoid this place during holiday cos it is also crowded with ppl.. no food vendors around here, so bring your own food if u easily hungry, and also some water.. entrance isnt too expensive per person, but if you want to drive your car up there, it gonna cost you some money..
