Matrimandir View Point

From Auroville Visitor Centre, a bus takes us closer to Matri Mandir. Then a short walk to the view point. Very enchanting to look at. Wished we could go in. But we were told that we should book our visit on line at least two weeks ahead.
Very peaceful amidst a vast area of forest. The walk was very pleasant.

A nice scenic trek takes you to the view point. On the trek, there are many places for a good photoshoot as well.

The trek is of around 15 minutes and can easily be done at any time of the day as it is covered by trees.

On return you can either trek back or take a shuttle bus. Bicycle is also available on rent.

There are so many places to explore on the way as well. A cafe, shopping centre and clean rest rooms also available.

This is the center of attraction in Auroville. From here, you get a spectacular view of Matrimandir.
A covered sitting area has been provided at this place.

One needs to walk for 1.5 Km from Auroville Visitor Center to reach here.
This walk is scenic with natural beauty and you are most likely to enjoy this walk.

While returning from Matrimandir View Point, you can avail free Bus journey which will drop you back at the Auroville Visitor center.

NOTE: To go to Matrimandir View point, you need to get/collect a ticket/pass. It is provided at the Auroville Visitor center free of cost.

For those with limitations of time to physically witness the Concentration Chamber of Matrimandir get a partial Vibe just watching the gold clad dome of Humanity and Peace.
Suggest the traveller to better make an online booking in advance, though the visit to the view point wouldn't need it .

People who work here are really nice. They are very polite & humble. Entry fee is free. They charge only for the parking. It's about 1km walk to the destination. For aged people they also have a bus facility. I love walking in the path. It's done beautifully. You can read boards while walking. It's meaning too. Place is maintained really well. Even though so many visitors walk in each day its maintained really well. I am amazed by thier organizational skills. If you want to enter into the main structure, you will have to email them a week's prior.

It was very cool experience and it has many beaches and a beach with all activities like: atv riding , wave beach , climbing pakour , more+

Matrimandir is a very beautiful structure situated in the middle of Auroville. There is lot of greenery. But it can be very hot during summer time. You need to walk around 1km from parking to reach there. Free Bus service is available to and fro Matrimandir to visitor center(around 100 mtr from parking). But frequency is less. Entry is free but you need a pass that is available just after the visitor center. Parking fee is 100rs.

Only thing you need to do is to walk almost one kilometre to see this mesmerizing architecture. You need to plan before if you want to enter inside mantramandir. But to view from outside nothing is necessary, decide when you can reach there and enjoy the view. Good that they allow you to take pictures how much ever you want.

To reach the view point we have to walk around 1.5 km. The view was certainly Splendid. Its advisable to wear comfortable shoes, hat, sunscreen and stay hydrated as it's humid during the day.. You would also find information related to the Mantrimandir just overlooking the view..

There couldn't be a more loving and inclusive place in the world. So serene scenes, lush green trees and calm beings everywhere. Though going anywhere near the Maitri Mandir is prohibited for the outsiders, there are a plenty of places where you could meditate or sot down to read a book.

You also have many shops to quench your thirst with uniquely flavoured soda 🥤 and have snacks or breakfast. Those who cannot walk can also take the mini van. On Sundays, go there by 10 AM to avoid the crowds.

This could be #1 on the must visit places in Pondicherry and South India.

Very beautiful and peaceful. Also very well maintained. We need to walk about 1-2kms from the vehicle parking lot to the view point. There is a free return bus service from the view point to the parking lot. There are cafeterias near the view point and the food tastes average.

Had to walk 2 kms almost to reach matri mandir from the main entrance. While returning there was a free bus service.

It was worth visiting this place. Very neat and clean and peaceful. It is only about 9kms from Rock beach. We went there by auto, but going there by two wheeler would be best option to enjoy the scenic beauty.

There are lots of cafes and souvenir shops around the road to Matri Mandir. Best place to have wood fried Pizza 🍕.

The view was very beautiful. A photogenic spot. To reach here, after parking... We had to walk for more than 30 mins...the path that led to the mandir was full of trees. It was a nice experience. It also led through the market of Auroville. While returning from Matrimandir, a free bus/cab system is provided all the time that dropped us back in the shopping market from where we walked back to the parking.

It's very peaceful, and serene. Very well maintained and very very beautiful surrounding. You can find drinking water stations at every few hundred metres distance. The layout of path is very thoughtfully designed and also rest rooms are at required places. There are places where one can sit for a while if you feel tired walking. There is a bus service for return journey as one doesn't need to walk back to the entry point. Entry is free. There is beautiful cafeteria and shops arround. All In all,.. It's a must visit place.

Such a beautiful place for a nice getaway. This place is a beautiful scene. You can stay here, watch the birds chirp, look at the beautiful dancing trees, enjoy the nice weather. The best thing about this place is the different group of people come here. People from different parts of the world come here. They have beautiful coffee shops, dress shops which are pricey, naturally. The parking is huge and can house around 100 cars at once.

The place is kept very clean and has very good walkway. There are places to sit quietly and be at peace.
Cycling facility and cycles are available for rent.
Some construction work is going on right now. So some part of the view isn't great.
But overall a well maintained beautiful place.
Best to visit early morning. 9am when it opens. It's less crowded

Visitors are only allowed to visit till the Matrimandi View point unless you have booked a session inside the temple wherein you do the meditation. The entire place and the 1km walk from visitors information centre till the view point is beautiful, calm and nice. You can spend around 15 min at this place though you can spend more. There are a lot of cafes and shops near visitors information centre. Do give them a try. They sell tasty stuff within budget. Also dont miss watching the small 10 min documentry shown at the beginning at information centre. Maybe it can help connect you with the place more and help you understand it. Else it will become a mere instagram trip.

By entering into you can feel all greenery with fresh air and can make yourself calm. Best place to photoshoot.. There are tourists all over here I got a different experience over here.. If you get to come to pondicherry visit once.. And also you read about Auroville you get inspired.
